The man calmly closed the car door and sat down beside Tang Qing.
Tang Qing blinked with moist eyes, a faint blush colouring his face. As the car started moving, he wobbled slightly and leaned against the seat.
“Xiao Tang, are you alright?” The man’s narrow, phoenix-like eyes watched him closely.
Tang Qing turned his head in a daze to glance at Ji Shinan, slowly blinking his almond-shaped eyes, which sparkled with moisture.
“I’m fine. Just one sip—I won’t get drunk.”
Tang Qing couldn’t understand why the man suddenly asked him that. He was a man, after all! How could he get drunk just from a sip?
He just felt a bit puzzled because, although the car was spacious, the tall man over 1.9 meters with impossibly long legs seemed to have nowhere to put them except pressed close beside him.
The air between them seemed to warm up somewhat because of this.
“Old Shi, roll down the windows a bit,” Ji Shinan said without acknowledging Tang Qing’s confident reply, turning to instruct the driver.
The driver quickly lowered the rear window, and fresh air blew in through the gap. Tang Qing felt much more comfortable, as if breathing was easier now.
“Feeling better?” Ji Shinan asked softly.
“I’m fine,” Tang Qing still firmly believed he wouldn’t get drunk from just a sip. “I’m just a little happy, so my face is a bit red.”
The man stared at his profile for a moment without commenting.
“You might not know, but I can actually paint. I make really good paintings,” Tang Qing suddenly said proudly, speaking to himself, “When I have free time, I’ll paint your portrait for you.”
He noticed that whenever Tang Qing was tipsy, he seemed to become livelier and less afraid of him.
Tang Qing turned his head to study the man’s features carefully.
Ji Shinan’s brows were sharp and handsome, his facial contours distinct. At every angle, he looked dignified and charming.
Tang Qing couldn’t help but praise, “President Ji, a handsome man like you would make a perfect model.”
The man’s dark, bright eyes flickered slightly as he replied faintly, “Is that so?”
Ji Shinan was tall, with perfect proportions and outstanding managerial skills at the company. He was so exceptional that his cold and distant aura often made people overlook the fact that his appearance was also extraordinarily striking.
It was said that art students, who regularly paint all kinds of models, could instantly tell who was beautiful in their surface features, and who was beautiful in their bones. A man like Ji Shinan was beautiful down to his very bones.
Tang Qing carefully studied the man’s perfect face, nodded seriously, and earnestly said, “Yes, President Ji, don’t you ever look in the mirror? You’re so handsome. I’ve never seen anyone as handsome as you. Even your skull shape is beautiful. Your handsomeness lies in…”
Ji Shinan couldn’t help but slightly lean closer to the boy, wanting to hear his words clearly.
“Your handsomeness lies in the fact that your nose is distinctly a nose, and your eyes are distinctly eyes. But what’s most special is,” Tang Qing looked closely at Ji Shinan’s handsome face just inches away, then suddenly lowered his voice, speaking mysteriously,
“Your mouth—it’s perfectly positioned.”
“*Pfft*.” The driver in the front accidentally laughed out loud, then quickly coughed and regained a serious expression, focusing on driving while pretending he hadn’t heard anything.
Unaware of the sudden shift in atmosphere, Tang Qing continued to compliment, “Your legs are beautiful too, especially long. I’ve never seen a model with legs as long as yours. Even a giraffe would bow down to you.”
The driver gripped the steering wheel tightly, veins bulging on his arm, barely holding back laughter.
Ji Shinan straightened up, pulled back his long legs, and said expressionlessly, “Thank you for the compliment.”
At that moment, a notification beeped—it was a message from Cha Nan.
[Cha Nan: Tang Tang, are you off work yet?]
Tang Qing picked up his phone and sent a voice message, “Cha Nan, don’t wait for me tonight. It’ll be too late. I never thought on my first day at work I’d be called out by the boss for socialising. Sigh, this company won’t collapse without me, will it?”
“Sigh, capitalists are truly bloodsucking demons, no matter how handsome they are.”
Tang Qing didn’t lower his voice at all; his words echoed loudly inside the car.
On his first workday, not only did he call the boss a bloodsucker, but he also cursed the company’s downfall. The driver up front was grimacing, trying hard not to laugh.
After finishing his rant, Tang Qing didn’t press send, but dumbly put the phone back into his pocket.
Ji Shinan’s eyelid twitched slightly.
Of course, the company wouldn’t collapse without this little assistant.
On the assistant’s interview day, he got to ride the president’s private elevator; his first social event required the president to drink on his behalf.
Perhaps the company might actually run better without the little assistant.
Of course, he wouldn’t admit he overheard Tang Qing’s conversation with Cha Nan and temporarily decided to forgo Secretary Li’s company, having Tang Qing accompany him instead.
After rambling on, the intoxication hit Tang Qing again. He leaned back in his seat, eyes half-closed in a daze.
The boy’s pale face flushed faintly pink, his long, thick eyelashes resting obediently on his eyelids, casting a small shadow, turning him back into that quiet, gentle little assistant.
Ji Shinan’s lips curled up slightly.
He already guessed the boy couldn’t handle alcohol and had been drinking on his behalf. Even so, he hadn’t expected Tang Qing to become like this from just a single sip.
“Old Shi, take him home first,” Ji Shinan instructed, reciting an address.
“Understood, President Ji,” the driver silently turned the car around.
He had served Ji Shinan for many years and was well aware of his temper. So he didn’t foolishly ask why the normally unaccommodating president, who never allowed others in his car, would let a new assistant hitch a ride, still remember the assistant’s home address, and even personally send him home.
Old Shi was just a straightforward, honest driver whose only concern was driving.
When they arrived, Tang Qing sat dazed in the seat, not quite aware of what was happening.
Ji Shinan got out first, opened the door for Tang Qing, and helped him out.
“Xiao Tang, do you still remember the way?”
Fortunately, Tang Qing wasn’t drunk enough to lose consciousness and was still able to guide Ji Shinan.
When they reached the door, Tang Qing became confused.
“Where’s my key? I clearly put it in my pocket…” He muddled through his pockets, blinking moist eyes, puzzled:
“President Ji, can you help me look?”
“Alright,” the man said in a low voice, looking at the boy.
He reached his hand into Tang Qing’s side pockets, feeling through the tight jeans and sensing the boy’s warm body heat, murmuring, “Not here.”
“I see…” Tang Qing frowned in thought, then defenselessly turned his back,
“Could it be in the back pocket?”
He was wearing blue fitted jeans that day, the snug denim perfectly outlining the boy’s beautiful curve below his waist.
Tang Qing only wanted the man to help check if the key was in the back pocket of his pants,
Unaware that his action was causing all sorts of daydreams.
No one knew better than Ji Shinan how soft and sensitive the boy’s lower waist was, how the hill beneath his waist was so firm, rounded, and filled with flesh.
The man’s black eyes grew even more obscure.
His Adam’s apple moved as he slowly reached out his hand.
“Ah, I just remembered!” Tang Qing suddenly laughed, abruptly turning around and smiling at the man, “I recently moved to a new place and installed a password lock.”
“Hahaha, bet you didn’t expect that.”
Ji Shinan took a deep breath and silently watched as Tang Qing leisurely entered the password on the lock.
This time, there was no problem; the door opened.
Tang Qing’s rented apartment wasn’t big, but it was decorated very cosily. A fabric sofa was dotted with soft cat-shaped pillows and cute corgi plush toys—just looking at them made one want to slump down comfortably.
A wooden coffee table held a large bouquet of baby’s breath flowers and some snacks. Light green carpet and small potted plants scattered around gave the space a lively, homey feel.
Ji Shinan took a look and noticed signs of a single person living here, which eased the crease in his brow.
Supporting Tang Qing inside, Ji Shinan saw that the boy was still somewhat clear-headed and turned to take a pair of slippers from the entrance cabinet.
These slippers were obviously several sizes larger than the fuzzy slippers Tang Qing was wearing.
“Are these your boyfriend’s slippers?” the man asked casually.
“They’re new and clean, don’t worry,” Tang Qing just assumed the man was a bit of a neat freak and explained.
The two walked to the living room, and Tang Qing poured a glass of water from the kettle, handing it to the man.
Ji Shinan accepted the steaming hot water silently, set it aside politely, and said, “Thank you.”
“Xiao Tang, get some rest early.”
Tang Qing felt he wasn’t drunk, yet he still drowsily followed the man to the bedroom and lay down on the bed.
“Good night, President Ji.”
Tang Qing said this as his eyelids uncontrollably closed, and within seconds, he fell asleep.
The man couldn’t help but smile.
He saw through Tang Qing’s facade of wakefulness; in reality, the boy was already so intoxicated he couldn’t even tell east from west.
The little drunk cat, even when drunk, was still quite adorable.
Beep beep. Tang Qing’s phone lit up.
[Cha Nan: Tang Tang, are you home yet?]
[Cha Nan: I miss you. I’ll come find you—I haven’t seen your new apartment yet.]
[Cha Nan: Do you want to… tonight?] followed by a mischievous emoji.
Ji Shinan looked at the boy who was already deep in sleep, eyes closed, saying nothing.
He picked up the phone and unlocked it using Tang Qing’s fingerprint.
[Tang Tang: I’m asleep.]
[Tang Tang: No, your skills are too lousy.]
He tucked the blanket neatly around Tang Qing, kissed the boy’s fair, smooth forehead, then turned and left.
…
“Tang Tang, I heard you went to that social event with President Ji yesterday. You’re amazing—gaining his trust so quickly,” Qi Lele said while chatting with Tang Qing during afternoon tea in the break area.
“No, I really didn’t help much…” Tang Qing’s voice grew quieter. He was also embarrassed to admit he might have made things worse.
He had no idea how drunk he’d been yesterday or what nonsense he had said or done.
Waking up the next morning, he even found out he had blocked Cha Nan.

This “cosily” is cozily. The ml is so funny, block that shit ass. I looked into the novels u are currently translating, I don’t really prefer them a lot, thanks for the suggestions, I’ll look out for anything new u are translating or just text u in one of these. I FUCKING HATE PEOPLE in my school, I actually kinda since I moved countries am younger than many in my class range [as in grade range] these people fucking piss me off, they are older than me YET SO FUCKING IMMATURE, we are reading LOTF “lord of the flies” before we started we had imagine situation u are on the island stranded what rules etc would u put. the people I was partnered with do not understand how far human cruelty can go, I just watched Stephanie soo’s explanation of burning sun, it was well researched it shows human cruelty well, [I just got into crime stuff these days] being SO FUCKING IGNORANT OF THIS IS SHOCKING, like u underestimate human cruelty and overestimate their empathy and sympathy. Another girl [I thought she was my friend] she left me alone at lunch, we were sitting together without saying anything to go talk to her another friend, she is the job with me in which my brother forced me to join complaining to me how I should be “doing my job” I was working on school stuff, there are other 2 interns in the job for the same class as us, they too dont do much but she is giving excuses FOR THEM like oh they have exams, like I DON’T? BITCH U SUCK, also like telling me to be “KIND” to kids we are working with in the job, THOSE ARE MIDDLE SCHOOL KIDS, THEY ARE CHAOS if u dont sternly reprimand them they will turn and mock u, they do in fact mock her so yea I have to be stern. THE ONLY FUCKING GOOD FRIENDS I HAVE ARE ONLINE LIKE YOU!!! U are such a nice friend 😭. Excuse my cursing because people be pissing me off these days bro. Thank you for the chapter ChuRen jiejie.

I might be too manipulative; however, to make friends, you gotta both give and take. I’ve always done it this way. It’s easy and hard for me to make friends. First, find someone you click with, then you suggest going to places. Find something in common but don’t really make them the center of your world. You gotta treat yourself as the center of their world. Be the leader, not the follower. Sometimes if they want to go anywhere, ask them if you can come with. But don’t be too desperate. If they say no then so be it. I wouldn’t care if my friend here goes out with her other friends because I know in the end we will always have lunch together because we work in the same office. Most of the times I would ask them if they want to visit a new spot or something. Be more proactive I guess?
Thanks for reading. It’s quite unfortunate that you don’t like any of them. I really liked the Ge’er novel…
