At that moment, a loud thunderclap echoed outside, and raindrops suddenly poured down, pounding against the window.

Everything that happened before losing consciousness felt like a distant memory.

Tang Qing only recalled that he had come to clean the room, but unexpectedly encountered Butler Andrew and was nearly killed by him.

At the critical moment, the legendary vampire prince Sephiroth appeared, snatched him from Andrew’s grasp, and then dragged him into the coffin.

They even seemed to have kissed…

The image of that black-haired, red-eyed man with a perfect face, elegantly licking the blood from his wrist, and that passionate, wet kiss flashed through his mind.

Tang Qing awkwardly wiped the corner of his mouth, trying to make himself forget that cold, delicate sensation.

If not for the two small blood holes still present on his wrist, he might have thought it was all just a nightmare.

Tang Qing just wanted to leave this room as soon as possible.

He went to the door, but no matter how he pushed, he couldn’t open it—it had some intricate mechanism embedded that prevented it from opening.

“Meow.”

Tang Qing was startled by the sudden sound of a cat’s meow.

A black cat sat quietly on the windowsill, its claws lightly gripping the stone railing. Its pair of glowing green eyes calmly gazed at Tang Qing. Its jet-black fur shimmered coldly under the moonlight, giving an air of mystery.

Maybe because of the night, Tang Qing felt the black cat’s eyes were even greener than before.

“Little Coal Ball1The utter disrespect towards Julian though, can you help me get out?” Tang Qing looked at the black cat on the windowsill, anxious.

He was afraid that if he stayed here too long, Sephiroth might regret it and come back to suck his blood again.

The black cat rose elegantly, stretching as if performing a ceremony, then leapt down lightly.

“Thank you, Little Coal Ball.”

The black cat padded over to the door, jumped up, pressing a hidden mechanism embedded on the doorknob, and the door promptly opened.

Tang Qing stepped out of the room and breathed in the outdoor air deeply, finally feeling that he had truly escaped death.

He looked down at the silver cross resting on his chest and carefully tucked it back under his clothes.

He vaguely recalled that it was the silver cross on his chest that made Sephiroth let him go at the last moment.

This cross was a relic left by Princess Lily’s mother. According to the common background of Mary Sue worlds, in this small world, the cross was probably set as some precious treasure.

How could an ordinary maid possibly have such a rare item?

Such special items held by the heroine—perhaps Sephiroth had already recognised it and suspected his identity.

Maybe Sephiroth even deduced from the cross on his clothes that he was sent by the royal family.

Moreover, the legendary vampire prince actually appeared right here in this castle. Tang Qing had to deliver this news to Princess Lily.

If Sephiroth could be killed, then Princess Lily could be with Lord Carter, and his mission would be complete.

Tang Qing sorted through his thoughts.

Now, Countess Bathory already hated him deeply for letting the blood slaves escape, and Prince Sephiroth was preparing to kill him, but had failed only because of the threat from the cross.

Not to mention, any random vampire in the castle could easily put his life in danger.

Although earlier, Julian had rescued him from the clutches of Countess Bathory and Butler Andrew, he couldn’t possibly fight the vampire prince Sephiroth for his sake.

So staying here was no longer safe at all.

He had to leave today.

With these thoughts, Tang Qing cradled the black cat in his arms and dashed out of the castle.

Heavy rain poured outside; the sky was dark and oppressive, pitch-black as ink.

“Meow.”

When they reached the edge of the garden gap, the black cat finally meowed once.

Tang Qing suddenly remembered that the black cat couldn’t follow him out, so reluctantly, he set the cat down.

The black cat looked at Tang Qing once, then transformed back into the vampire youth Tang Qing knew.

Julian was tall and upright, with a noble and cool aura. His green eyes were narrow and deep, quietly gazing at Tang Qing.

Tang Qing suddenly realised that Julian’s narrow phoenix-like eyes somewhat resembled those of the vampire prince.

But one’s eyes were as clear green as green agate, while the other’s were blood-red like scarlet.

If he hadn’t just seen Sephiroth, it would have been hard to connect the two.

“Anne, where are you going?” Julian grabbed Tang Qing’s hand.

“Julian,” Tang Qing’s thoughts were interrupted, and at the thought of their imminent parting, he opened his mouth and said, “Thank you for all your help these days.”

He truly appreciated Julian. From the very first day he came to Castle Csejte, it was Julian, in the form of the black cat, who hinted that he should leave. Later, when he was attacked by a low-level vampire, it was the black cat who appeared and scared the attacker away.

And when he was almost captured by Countess Bathory, which triggered Butler Andrew’s pursuit for helping the blood slaves escape, it was also Julian who appeared to save him.

“If I hadn’t met you, I definitely wouldn’t have survived even a day in this castle before becoming vampire food. You saved my life again and again. I really thank you, Julian.”

A breeze stirred Julian’s black hair as he calmly looked at Tang Qing.

“But I have to leave now,” Tang Qing said nervously, tightening his fingers, “Just now, in that room at the end of the fourth floor, I encountered the vampire prince.”

“Sephiroth has awakened?” Julian asked.

“Yes. He almost sucked my blood… and he may have discovered that I was sent by the royal family.” Tang Qing pressed his lips, “I have to return and inform Princess Lily.”

Julian let out a cold laugh.

He had already known—Princess Lily and this maid were on the same side.

The maid had infiltrated Castle Csejte to gather information and prepare for an early assault to destroy all the vampires.

“So, you’re planning to go back and call for reinforcements?” Julian asked coldly, his voice devoid of warmth.

Tang Qing lowered his head and remained silent.

After escaping today from Prince Sephiroth and Butler Andrew, he was more clearly aware that vampires and humans were opposing forces by nature.

They could strike at him anytime.

“That’s the maid! Don’t let her escape!” The low-level vampire Tang Qing had seen before rushed out, followed by several other vampires.

“Countess Bathory said not to let this maid escape Castle Csejte.”

It turned out that ever since that day when Tang Qing freed the blood slaves from the dungeon, the Countess had set up spells along the garden’s perimeter.

If any human tried to leave, it would trigger an alarm.

These low-level vampires were the ones sent to capture Tang Qing.

“I’m sorry, Julian, but I have to go,” Tang Qing said, looking at the vampires closing in behind him. He knew he had to leave.

Julian blocked Tang Qing’s path and asked, “You haven’t answered me yet—are you planning to make enemies of all vampires?”

Tang Qing didn’t know how to reply and remained silent, lowering his head, unwilling to meet Julian’s gaze, afraid his resolve would shatter under that melancholic green stare.

One vampire had already run up behind them, but was violently knocked to the ground by a wave of Julian’s hand.

“Wait.”

Julian slowly reached out and took off a necklace from his neck.

Tang Qing had glimpsed the chain before flashing around Julian’s neck but hadn’t known it had a pendant beneath it.

The bronze chain held a dazzling teardrop-shaped green gem, the same clear and bright hue as Julian’s eyes—green as a serene, crystal-clear jade pond, deep and unfathomable, like a shooting star in the night, pure and free of any impurity.

That necklace was the last heirloom from Julian’s mother, worn close to him at all times.

She was a human woman with long black hair, whose smile, like that maid’s, held a shallow dimple and a gentle warmth.

When Julian was a child, before he became the green-eyed entity, that fragile woman had treated him as her treasure, giving him a brief moment of maternal love.

Just like the feeling he had when he was held by the little maid as a black cat.

Warmth.

“That necklace looks like your eyes,” Tang Qing couldn’t help but comment.

“Then consider it as me always watching over you,” Julian said softly.

He moved behind Tang Qing and gently fastened the necklace around his neck.

Tang Qing suddenly felt a cool sensation at the back of his neck.

A faint, almost imperceptible kiss fell, restrained and gentle.

“Go,” Julian looked at Tang Qing, his tone calm and unruffled.

But in those narrow, deep green eyes, shards of fragmented emerald amber seemed to hide countless layers of loneliness and desolation.

Tang Qing had never seen such intense emotion in Julian’s eyes before.

Perhaps, he too could feel sorrow.

The rain continued unabated, the leaden sky hanging low as if within reach. The world around the castle seemed draped in this endless curtain of rain, becoming hazy and indistinct. A stone staircase led to the castle amidst the downpour, with water rushing down both sides, producing a bubbling sound. White flowers lay scattered on the ground, like pure snow blossoms blooming in the rain. Red rose petals were also beaten down by the rain, scattered on the blue stones like pools of crimson blood.

The cold raindrops splashed on Tang Qing’s face, blurring his vision.

Several vampires swarmed forward, claws outstretched, lunging at Tang Qing.

Julian turned around, blocking their attack.

“I’m sorry, Julian.”

After saying this, Tang Qing looked back deeply at Julian, as if wanting to engrave the image of this vampire youth forever in his heart.

Behind him were the sounds of Julian fighting the vampires.

Tang Qing knew that if he stayed, he would only be a burden and couldn’t help him.

He had to leave to complete his mission.

But he also didn’t know when he would see Julian again.

Would those green eyes still look at him with the same wistful loneliness?
