Early that day, Tang Qing arrived at the set. He had barely made it when Gu Minghao quietly pulled him into the director’s lounge.
Before the door could even close, Gu Minghao anxiously said, “Tangtang, can you help me today?”
Confused, Tang Qing asked, “What’s going on?”
“In today’s scene, we need a cat. It’s the cat owned by the female lead, and there are several scenes with the Emperor.”
Tang Qing was already aware of this and nodded. He had seen the cat yesterday; it was quite cute, an internet-famous orange cat named Xiao Mi.
Chubby and adorable, resembling a small gas canister.
Gu Minghao rubbed his forehead, saying, “We had already arranged for the cat you saw yesterday. But that cat ended up eating too much last night and has diarrhea… Its owner took it to the vet…”
Tang Qing was at a loss.
That cat indeed didn’t seem very bright.
“Tangtang, I know your secret. When your brother got drunk, he showed me a photo of you, claiming his brother was the cutest in the world.”
“I looked and realized it was a cat. Later, your brother told me the truth. I also know about your other friends, and I’ve arranged more convenient roles for them, giving them each a small room.”
Tang Qing couldn’t believe that Gu Minghao knew his secret.
Being able to transform into a small animal like a cat was a rare ability among a small group of people. Besides the crew, only his brother knew about his ability to turn into a cat.
Gu Minghao smiled warmly and said, “Don’t worry, I’ll keep it a secret.”
As he spoke, he mimicked zipping his mouth shut.
“If you help out with a cameo today, I can tell you a secret in exchange,” Gu Minghao said, bending slightly and revealing the top of his head.
Suddenly, two black ears popped up.
The ears were erect triangular shapes, slightly pointed inward, with short and dense shiny black fur.
“Ah…a German Shepherd?” Tang Qing exclaimed with delight as he looked at the top of Gu Minghao’s head.
Gu Minghao blinked and said, “Smart. Not just Tangtang has secrets, you know.”
Seeing Tang Qing’s keen interest, he chuckled, “Do you want to touch them?”
Tang Qing nodded eagerly.
Gu Minghao half-squatted, revealing his ears to Tang Qing.
Tang Qing reached out and gently touched those ears.
German Shepherd ears weren’t as long as a cat’s, but the short, dense fur felt special and had a great texture.
They didn’t seem to shed, which made Tang Qing envious.
As he touched Gu Minghao’s ears, Tang Qing couldn’t help but exclaim, “It feels so comfortable.”
Lu Zeyu arrived at the set.
Passing by the director’s lounge, he subconsciously glanced in, wanting to catch a glimpse of the young man.
From his angle, he could only see Gu Minghao and Tang Qing in the lounge. Tang Qing had his back to him, while Gu Minghao faced Tang Qing, both of them standing in a peculiar position.
Gu Minghao’s head was buried near Tang Qing’s chest.
He couldn’t make out what they were doing.
Tang Qing reached out to touch Gu Minghao’s head near his chest, saying, “So comfortable…”
Lu Zeyu’s expression darkened as he walked over.
Was this Tang Qing not sparing even the director?
Gu Minghao was indeed decent-looking, but was there a need to be so indiscriminate?
Wait, Gu Minghao came from a well-off family; would he really be taken advantage of by Tang Qing?
Did the Tang family have that much influence?
Perhaps he was misunderstanding something?
Feeling puzzled, Lu Zeyu turned back to take another look.
Then he saw Tang Qing turning around, his back to Gu Minghao, with his hand still on the zipper of his pants.
Lu Zeyu’s face turned icy as he walked away from the lounge door.
Unexpectedly, Gu Minghao had also been involved with Tang Qing in something shady.
When Lu Zeyu came out in his costume, Gu Minghao was already seated in the director’s chair.
He had a cheerful smile on his face, looking very pleased.
In his hands, he held a beautiful little cat.
The cat was a golden gradient with a short, slightly round mouth. Coupled with its golden face, it looked like a beautiful little doll that made people unable to resist wanting to pick it up and pet it1
.
Of course, Gu Minghao was in a good mood. Tang Qing had finally agreed to show him his large tail in human form.
Indeed, it was big and fluffy, truly adorable.
However, Lu Zeyu was in a bad mood.
Walking over, he directly asked, “Director Gu, where is Tang Qing?”
Gu Minghao didn’t understand why Lu Zeyu looked like he had been betrayed.
He replied, “Tang Qing had something come up and took the day off.”
Lu Zeyu sneered and asked, “Is that so? With so many scenes today, he didn’t show up?”
Just a moment ago, that person was still in the lounge, taking off his pants.
Now he was nowhere to be seen.
Absolutely ridiculous.
Could it be he overexerted himself and couldn’t face anyone now?
Ignoring Gu Minghao, Lu Zeyu took a step with his long legs, turned around, and walked straight to the director’s lounge door.
With a bang.
He rudely pushed the door open.
Gu Minghao followed closely behind, complaining, “What’s the matter with you? I told you he’s not here today. Do you think I hid him somewhere?”
Lu Zeyu glanced around the lounge, which was not very big, with only a few chairs and a table.
Empty, with no one inside.
He snorted coldly and asked, “Where’s Tang Qing? I saw him this morning.”
Gu Minghao’s expression instantly became somewhat complicated.
The cat in his arms also lifted its head.
Both the man and the cat stared dumbfoundedly at Lu Zeyu.
Gu Minghao stuttered, “Tang Qing… He did come this morning…”
He quickly came up with an explanation, “He came to take a leave of absence. After that, he left.”
Lu Zeyu looked disbelieving, raised an eyebrow, and skeptically said, “He came to take leave? Couldn’t he just call you instead of coming all the way here to do so?”
Gu Minghao had been in the entertainment industry for many years and was skilled at speaking ambiguously, saying one thing to one person and something else to another.
But at this moment, under Lu Zeyu’s piercing peach blossom eyes, he inexplicably felt a bit breathless.
He nervously glanced down at the cat in his arms.
The cat, with its beautiful deep chestnut eyes, stared back at him.
Round and bright, like a pair of beautiful glass beads.
Impatiently, Lu Zeyu said, “I’m talking to you, why are you staring at the cat?”
“Yeah, Tang Qing just happened to pass by, so he came over to inform me,” Gu Minghao hastily explained.
“Why are you so concerned about Tang Qing’s matters? If he wants to take a leave, let him. It’s not my place to interfere,” Gu Minghao changed the subject, proudly showing off the cat in his arms, “Look at this cat, isn’t it adorable?”
Lu Zeyu didn’t understand why he was so fixated on Tang Qing’s affairs.
It was just inexplicable, finding himself unable to help but pay attention to what he was up to.
Then he felt uneasy.
Lu Zeyu glanced down at the cat.
As if understanding human speech, the cat also lifted its head and locked eyes with him.
With its delicate and elegant face of a golden gradient cat, clear and clean eyes, and fluffy fur, it was a lively and adorable little creature.
He was reminded of the boy from his dreams for no apparent reason.
He must be going crazy.
Even seeing a cat would make him think of that person.
“This cat, that’s it.” Lu Zeyu said lightly, then walked back to the set.
Gu Minghao held the cat, muttering softly, “That’s it… If you’re so capable, go find a cuter one for me to see. You look grumpy every day, one might think your wife ran away.”
“Meow~”
The cat also nodded its little head in agreement, meowing softly.
Gu Minghao carried the cat back to the filming area.
This play only has a few scenes. The first is the emperor walking in the garden, where the female lead’s cat falls from the wall and into the emperor’s arms. Another scene shows the emperor bringing back the cat and interacting with it by feeding it goat’s milk.
“Action!”
The first scene began shooting.
Originally, Shangguan Linlin was worried that the cat would bring too many variables and waste everyone’s time.
She had been in another crew before, where a scene required a husky to cooperate.
That scene… was unbearable to recall.
Fortunately, the thing she worried about didn’t happen.
This golden gradient cat seemed to understand human speech, not needing any commands, and agilely climbed up the wall, standing on the high wall waiting for the shoot.
Its petite body fit perfectly in one’s arms.
Its four furry paws gripped tightly onto the wall, its round deep chestnut eyes curiously observing the surroundings. Its golden fur was fluffy and soft, seeming to melt into flowing gold under the sunlight, emitting a warm glow.
The cat tilted its furry head and let out a soft meow. Its sweet voice sounded like a string of golden bells chiming in the wind, drawing responses from other birds. At that moment, it seemed like a golden spirit between the red wall and the blue sky.
As Emperor Lu Zeyu walked by under the high wall, the cat pretended to be chasing butterflies, took a few stumbling steps, and fell down.
Quick-eyed, the emperor reached out his hand and caught the falling ball of fur.
“How come there’s a cat in the palace?” the man said coldly, looking down at the cat in his arms.
Shangguan Linlin, acting as a palace maid, hid to the side, nervously watching but not daring to speak.
The emperor’s gaze was sharp, imposing without anger.
The little cat shrank slightly, blinking its eyes pitifully.
“Meow.”
It timidly let out a soft meow.
A eunuch stepped forward and said, “Your Majesty, don’t dirty your hands. Let me take this cat away for you.”
The man was about to hand over the cat.
But suddenly, the wide sleeve felt a tug.
He looked down to see the cat in his arms tugging at his sleeve, as if unwilling to leave him.
The man was slightly surprised.
Because he exuded a heavy pressure, animals always ran away when they saw him. Even in the royal hunting grounds, wild animals would run far away at the mere sight of him.
It was the first time an animal wanted to get close to him.
And it was such a small cat.
“No need,” the emperor said lightly.
He took a step, his wide golden dragon robe enveloping the small golden cat, and walked back to the palace.
“CUT!”
Gu Minghao expressed satisfaction, “Well done, all in one take.”
After saying that, he moved forward, wanting to take back the cat from Lu Zeyu’s arms.
Lu Zeyu, nonchalantly, said, “The next scene is also with me and it.”
Gu Minghao puzzled, “So?”
Lu Zeyu, holding the cat, inexplicably said, “I want to act with it.”
Gu Minghao: “…”
Tang Qing: “?”
Truly a Film Emperor, such dedication.

Thanks for including the picture of the cat ChuRen jiejie, also you changed the font, the misunderstanding is too deep now I hope they can talk it out. Also I thought that the gu guy liked out baby tangtang [original boy] but he is being the biggest matchmaker between out baby tangtang and the ml. Also when the movie is released I think many people will doubt why the ml has more chemistry with a cat than the female lead of the movie. Thank you for the chapter ChuRen jiejie.
I did??? Its still the same for me here… I’ll go check it out later when I get back home from work…
Thanks for reading~
