Fu Yixuan’s eyes were deep and unfathomable.
He glanced quietly at Zhang Xu, slowly releasing his grip.
Zhang Xu’s feet finally touched the ground, gasping for air with a flushed face, barely managing to catch his breath.
The homeroom teacher walked between the two and asked, “It’s time for class, why is everyone still gathered here?”
Fu Yixuan glanced in the direction of Tang Rong’er, about to speak, when Zhang Xu stepped forward, pointing at Fu Yixuan with excitement, and blurted out, “Teacher, we suspect that Fu Yixuan dirtied Tang Rong’er’s scarf. The evidence is in his drawer. But he refuses to show us his backpack for inspection. He’s the poorest in the class, surely hiding something!”
Fu Yixuan raised his head slightly, his handsome face calm and composed, his voice steady and unruffled as he said, “Teacher, no need to waste time here with me. Go check the surveillance, and the truth will come to light.”
As soon as Zhang Xu heard about checking the surveillance, he immediately clutched his chest, raising his voice significantly, questioning, “If you’re not guilty, why did you hit me? Why won’t you let everyone check your backpack? Are you afraid of being caught for stealing someone else’s things? Let’s all check if everyone’s valuable items are missing.”
Fatty Ren Yuhui had instructed Zhang Xu to target Fu Yixuan. Seeing the scene today, he feigned surprise and said, “Oh no, the limited edition watch I just bought is missing. Its rare for someone in our class to be so careless, isn’t it?”
As soon as he said this, the entire class erupted.
“I thought Fu Yixuan was just poor, didn’t expect him to be so sneaky.”
“Is this his first time stealing? I heard stealing can become addictive, mostly habitual offenders.”
“Even if he’s poor, he shouldn’t steal from classmates.”
“No wonder I lost a pen a few days ago and couldn’t find it.”
“Your pen can’t be worth much, who would steal it.” Some girls even defended Fu Yixuan.
With the thought of someone in the class being a thief, everyone started to suspect each other, recalling if they had lost anything, and wondering if it was Fu Yixuan who stole it.
Everyone knew Ren Yuhui was very wealthy, and his watch was worth more than the monthly income of an average family. So, could it be that Fu Yixuan, who always kept his backpack close, did steal from his classmates due to his poor background?
“This Zhang Xu is going too far, 99. He’s spewing blood from his mouth.” Tang Qing angrily complained to System 99 in his mind, “Clearly, it was Zhang Xu who dirtied someone’s belongings with his own hands, but he’s pinning it on Fu Yixuan.”
[Host, this is how the villain’s high school life unfolds. Envy from both the fat and thin ones due to his good grades and popularity among girls, discrimination for being an orphan, spreading rumours about theft, leading to the villain’s character turning darker, eventually becoming a major villain.]Ā
After reviewing the story background, System 99 earnestly responded,
[It’s all predestined.]
“Is it destined…” Tang Qing murmured.
He didn’t understand what was destined.
He only knew that Fu Yixuan was good to him, studying diligently every day, working hard to make a living, and even feeding him dried fish.
Fu Yixuan had never done anything outrageous, so he shouldn’t be slandered.
The homeroom teacher quite liked Fu Yixuan, after all, he was a good student who excelled in academics and was quiet and non-disruptive. Who wouldn’t like that? But she saw Fu Yixuan grabbing Zhang Xu’s collar, and initiating a physical altercation with a classmate, which was never a good thing. She couldn’t help feeling a bit disappointed.
She looked at Fu Yixuan and asked, “Student Fu, can you let everyone check your backpack?”
The whole class stared at Fu Yixuan, as if not opening his backpack on the spot would prove he was a thief.
The black-haired youth’s eyes were deep and unfathomable, his expression cold and calm. His slender white fingers rested on the backpack, facing everyone’s odd gazes and baseless accusations without a hint of worry. He calmly said, “I don’t need to prove myself to anyone. Go check the surveillance, and the truth will come to light.”
Everyone stared at the pensive black-haired youth, contemplating his words when his backpack shook slightly.
With a swift motion, an orange object flashed by. Before anyone could react, a sizable orange cat leapt out of the backpack and landed steadily on the desk.
The girls immediately forgot about the dispute in the classroom, exclaiming in surprise, “An orange cat! So cute.”
Tang Qing stretched lazily. The cat shook its fluffy little head, and swayed its long and furry tail. Ignoring the teacher’s hand reaching out to grab him, it targeted its goal, agilely kicked its two short legs and leapt lightly.
It pounced on Zhang Xu, deftly using its claws to hook something out of Zhang Xu’s pocket.
A small box fell to the ground, rolling to the feet of a long-haired girl.
The long-haired girl bent down to take a closer look, surprised, “This is an ink box.”
Fu Yixuan wasn’t interested in the commotion. His expression remained indifferent as he walked straight to the ink box, not even sparing a glance at the nervous Zhang Xu, but gently picked up the orange cat, cradling it in his arms and softly rubbing it.
In a clear and cold voice, he said, “Tang Tang, be good, don’t touch dirty things.”
The long-haired girl looked at Fu Yixuan’s cold and handsome face, contrasting it with Zhang Xu’s pale complexion, and couldn’t help but sneer. Was he referring to the ink box as “dirty things” or to Zhang Xu?
Tang Rong’er’s desk mate, upon seeing the ink box, also realized what was happening and asked her, “Rong’er, could it be the person who used this ink box is the one who dirtied your scarf?”
“Some people cry thief to catch a thief,” some classmates also caught on.
The homeroom teacher took the ink box and sternly asked Zhang Xu, “Zhang Xu, why did you bring the ink box? Do you need it for class?”
Zhang Xu’s face turned red with nervousness, and sweat started to appear on his forehead. His small eyes darted around anxiously. He wasn’t particularly good-looking, to begin with, but now he seemed even more dishevelled.
Seeing him stuttering and unable to answer, the homeroom teacher already had an idea in mind. She said sharply, “Let’s start the class, Zhang Xu, come to the office and see me now.”
Pausing for a moment, she looked at Fu Yixuan and softened her tone slightly, “Student Fu, come to my office after class, and bring your cat with you.”
The long-haired girl glanced at Fu Yixuan. The black-haired youth had a calm demeanor, with a cold expression. The classroom’s fluorescent light cast a shadow on his handsome nose, creating a small area of shade.
She thought to herself, this was too cool. Fu Yixuan had been publicly accused of being a thief, but with the orange cat revealing the ink box, the truth was now clear. Despite all the twists and turns, he didn’t change his expression, remaining calm and composed, indifferent to the gossip. Fu Yixuan excelled academically, yet he wasn’t frail at all. He could effortlessly lift Zhang Xu, demonstrating impressive muscular strength.
While everyone saw Fu Yixuan as calm and composed, ignoring the curious or envious gazes of the girls, he unzipped his backpack, took out his textbooks, carefully placed the orange cat back inside, and leaned down to whisper to the cat’s ear, his voice low and tinged with nervousness:
“Tang Tang, I told you not to let anyone find out. Why didn’t you listen today?”
Tang Qing pretended not to understand, blinking his watery green glass-like cat eyes and looking pitifully at him.
Both cute and innocent.
The black-haired youth gently stroked the cat’s ear, his voice low and mesmerizing, “Was Tang Tang trying to help me out?”
The kitten extended its claws, hooked onto the youth’s slender fingers, and stuck out its pink and tender tongue, gently licking in comfort.
The black-haired youth felt a tingling sensation in his palm, a strange and soft feeling surged in his heart. It was as if the deepest part of his heart had been touched by the cat’s fur.
He rubbed the kitten’s head, his movements extremely gentle. In his deep eyes, it seemed like water could overflow at any moment. He spoke each word solemnly:
“Tang Tang, promise me, protect yourself. I’m not afraid of anything, only afraid that you might get hurt.”
