“Xiao Bei, what happened to your eye?” Mother Lu looked at the faint bruise on Lu Bei’s right eye, asking with concern.
Lu Bei didn’t seem bothered at all and casually replied, “It’s nothing. I accidentally bumped into the flower stand while playing with the cat downstairs.”
Mother Lu frowned disapprovingly and said, “You always like teasing cats. It’s fine if it’s the cat from Tang Qing’s house, but you shouldn’t play with stray cats outside. Be careful not to get scratched. You’ll need to get a shot.”
Father Lu glanced at the injury but remained silent. He could tell it was caused by a person. Only Tang Qing could make Lu Bei willingly endure being hit.
If Tang Qing, with his good nature, couldn’t resist hitting someone, it must be their son’s problem. He deserved it.
As Lu Bei poured soy milk for Tang Qing, he explained, “Mom, you don’t understand. That cat is really cute, soft, and great to cuddle. Once you start, you can’t stop. I’d happily die for him.”
Mother Lu immediately reached out and lightly slapped Lu Bei. “Good luck and great prosperity, don’t talk nonsense.” This unlucky child, talking like a fool every day.
Tang Qing couldn’t resist and sneakily extended his foot under the table, giving Lu Bei a firm kick.
Lu Bei’s face twisted for a moment, then quickly returned to normal. He proudly shared with everyone, “You guys don’t know, even when a little cat steps on you, it’s like stepping on something soft, all soft and cute.”
Father Lu and Mother Lu couldn’t bear to listen any longer and silently finished their breakfast, turning a blind eye.
After breakfast, Mother Lu watched the two return to school. In just a few steps, her son still clung tightly to Tang Qing, like a piece of dog skin plaster. The person who couldn’t even say ten sentences to his family in a month was now whispering in someone’s ear every day. It was amazing that Tang Qing had been able to tolerate this for so many years.
As a bystander, she found this unlucky child incredibly annoying.
She wondered if it was time to start preparing for a second child, if there was still time.
Lu Bei and Tang Qing arrived at school and entered the classroom. Immediately, everyone looked excitedly at them, their eyes shining with gossip. Tang Qing glanced at them in confusion, and they quickly lowered their heads, whispering among themselves.
“What’s going on?”
Was there something on his face today? Tang Qing was a bit puzzled.
Zhang Chiheng had saved them seats, smiling and saying, “Oh, the newlyweds are here for class.”
Lu Bei was pleased with his choice of words and gave him a rare good look, saying, “If you have something to say, go ahead.”
Zhang Chiheng looked at Lu Bei, laughing, “Let me guess, what breed of dog is our school grass?”
It was then that Tang Qing remembered yesterday’s incident and began to feel awkward, fidgeting with his toes. “Chiheng, how do you know about this?”
Zhang Chiheng took out his phone, trying to suppress his laughter as his facial expressions twitched, “Isn’t it common knowledge at University A? It’s all over the forums. ‘Shocking! School Grass and School Flower Play āPet Game’, School Grass Publicly Declares Himself a Dog!’“
Still finding it amusing, Zhang Chiheng continued, “Look, everyone has started a poll and heatedly discusses what breed of dog the school grass is.”
Lu Bei enjoyed hearing others discuss him and Tang Qing. Even if they called him a dog, he didn’t mind and found it rather interesting. He approached, asking, “What breeds are there?”
“The top choice is a Wolfhound, saying the school grass is an athlete, looks fierce, and has the physique of a male dog. Second is a German Shepherd, known for loyalty and being affectionate. There’s also mention of a Border Collie…”
After a moment of consideration, Lu Bei commented seriously, “Wolfhound, sounds cooler.”
Tang Qing looked at Lu Bei speechlessly.
How could someone be so interested in discussing what breed of dog he was?
And a wolfhound, really? A Siberian Husky might have been a better fit.
Pointing at the phone screen, Lu Bei inquired, “What about this post? ‘What is the school flower to the school grass?’“
Hearing something related to himself, Tang Qing also leaned in to look at the phone.
ćThe school grass is the school flower’s dog, so what is the school flower to the school grass?ć
ćThe school flower is the school grass’s owner?ć
ćIs he the school grass’s little puppy?ć
ćCould he possibly be a kitten? I think the school flower’s cold demeanor is somewhat cat-like.ć
ćCat-dog couple! I’m in! I’m all in! LOL!ć
Scrolling to the bottom, there was a highly praised comment.
ćDog trainerć
ć…ć
ćYou dare to say that.ć
ćAren’t you afraid the school grass will come after you for posting those comments? I heard he got the network department goddess to delete all comments calling the school flower their wife.ć
Tang Qing drifted through the class in a daze.
Maybe it was time to transfer after all?
Lu Bei remained silent, his expression inscrutable. He took out his phone and messaged Lu Xiaolin, asking her to delete the comments. He had dinner with Lu Xiaolin yesterday to build a relationship and get her help in controlling the negative comments online. He didn’t want Tang Qing’s campus life to be affected because of him.
Unlike the clear-minded Tang Qing, he knew exactly what that word meant.
He didn’t care how others talked about him, but he wouldn’t allow insulting words to be used against Tang Qing.
Even if it was all in jest.
However, his mind inexplicably drifted back to the dream he had last night.
In the dream, he was at Tang Qing’s home. Opening the bathroom door, he caught a faint scent of orchids, refreshing and pleasant, and inside was a young man showering with his back to him. The young man’s skin was fair, so fair it seemed to glow, his waist slender enough to be grasped with one hand. Below the waist, his curves were round and perky, with ample flesh, all in a pale, snowy smoothness.
“A-Bei, help me.”
The young man’s voice was clear and pleasant, and he slowly turned around…
Then he woke up, with no more sleep left at five in the morning.
He thought of his Tang Tang, staying in bed until almost six.
After releasing his thoughts, he couldn’t help but climb over the balcony and into Tang Qing’s room. Knowing that Lu Bei had a spare key to the front door, Tang Qing always locked his room when he slept.
Luckily, Lu Bei had quickly mastered the skill of climbing the balcony.
He only wanted to see the sleeping kitten, but he couldn’t resist wanting to smell, touch, and even kiss until he accidentally woke Tang Qing up.
Perhaps all cat owners couldn’t resist such impulses.
This was how Lu Bei comforted himself.
On the weekend, Lu Bei packed their bags and joined Tang Qing for a two-day class trip.
Originally, Lu Bei firmly refused to let Tang Qing participate in the trip, using the excuse that traveling would affect their studies. However, after Tang Qing informed him that each student could bring a family member, Lu Bei immediately agreed, feeling delighted.
Lu Bei had Tang Qing sit by the window, and he sat close beside him.
“Bei-ge, Tang Tang, want some snacks?” Zhang Chiheng, seated in front, turned around and pulled out a bag of potato chips.
“No need, you have your own.” Lu Bei pushed away Zhang Chiheng’s head. Of course, he wouldn’t let Tang Qing eat snacks brought by others. He preferred to take care of everything for Tang Qing.
He had brought several snacks that Tang Qing loved, even a cat treat, although he hadn’t had many opportunities to use it. It was a part of his fond wish.
He took out a box of seaweed, unwrapped it, and offered a piece to Tang Qing’s lips.
Tang Qing extended his tender, pink tongue, sticking a piece of seaweed to it and eating it in small bites. After finishing, he unconsciously licked his lips.
Lu Bei watched Tang Qing intently.
Would Tang Tang’s tongue be like a kitten’s, slightly prickly, causing a tingling sensation when licked, warm and ticklish? Probably not. If Tang Tang was in human form, his tongue would likely be soft and gentle.
Visions of this idea suddenly popped into his mind.
The journey was neither short nor long, spanning a two-hour drive. As the car rocked back and forth, Tang Qing’s eyelids began to droop, feeling drowsy.
Lu Bei gently pressed Tang Qing’s head onto his shoulder and softly said, “Go to sleep.”
Leaning against the familiar shoulder, Tang Qing quickly drifted off.
The girls behind them were excitedly pulling each other’s sleeves, whispering, “The cat-dog CP is too sweet.”
“Ah, the dog feeding seaweed, it’s so nauseatingly sweet.”
“Sleeping together snuggled up, so sweet, aww.”
Finally reaching their destination, Tang Qing woke up.
He instinctively touched his lips, relieved to find that his sleeping position was fine, and he hadn’t drooled. Otherwise, it would have been too awkward.
What Tang Qing didn’t know was that Lu Bei was secretly feeling regretful.
Lu Bei hoped that Tang Qing could be like the female lead in an idol drama, falling asleep so innocently and leaving a drool mark on his clothes. How cute would that be?
He felt that this kind of scenario would make their relationship even closer.
The group arrived at the hotel and received their room keys.
The class monitor came over to distribute the room keys and said to Tang Qing, “You and the school grass are sharing a room.”
Tang Qing was taken aback. Because he would transform into a human without clothes in the morning, he didn’t really want to share a room with anyone, feeling a bit awkward about it.
Moreover, Lu Bei had been getting increasingly clingy lately.
The class monitor added, “To save on costs, everyone is sharing standard double rooms. If you want to change, you’ll have to go to the front desk yourself.” Due to the well-known relationship between Tang Qing and the school grass, the class monitor forgot to ask Tang Qing if he wanted to change rooms and just assumed they would share a room.
“No problem, thank you.” Lu Bei took the room key, then glanced at Tang Qing and asked softly, “Tang Tang, you’re not repulsed by me, right?”
Tang Qing looked at Lu Bei and shook his head helplessly.
Would it even make a difference if he said he was repulsed?
No.
Tang Qing gave up the struggle and resignedly followed Lu Bei to find their room.
“Taking my Tang Tang to check-in~”
Lu Bei held Tang Qing’s hand firmly, smiling like a dog who had just seen a bone.
