Tang Qing was spellbound, unable to stop staring into the man’s blood-red eyes for a long while before finally looking away.
He noticed an elegant and ornate line of traditional English written at the bottom right corner of the portrait. Tang Qing made an effort to read it; the meaning was roughly:
“His Highness Prince Sephiroth”
So this person in the portrait was exactly the vampire prince Sephiroth—the world’s strongest villain mentioned by System 99.
Tang Qing looked again and couldn’t shake the feeling that Sephiroth seemed somewhat familiar.
But after careful thought, there was truly no one around him who radiated such a chilling pressure.
And no one had such terrifyingly bloody eyes.
He might have been mistaken. Tang Qing blinked, withdrew his gaze, picked up his cleaning tools, and transformed into a diligent little maid to begin cleaning.
He knocked on the first room’s door; inside, it was pitch dark, with only the slanting candlelight outside faintly illuminating a small area. He fumbled to find the handle, opened a candle holder on the wall, and lit one candle.
The candlelight brightened the room but made it feel even more eerie—the walls were hung with one portrait after another. Regardless of gender, everyone had blood-red eyes and pale faces, seemingly staring at Tang Qing, who had unexpectedly intruded.
Thick dust covered the floor, while the air was heavy with the scent of rotting wood and time. The windows were tightly shut, and the heavy black curtains showed signs of long neglect.
The furnishings had aged considerably, covered in cobwebs and dust. On the bedside table sat a wine bottle, long dried up, with remnants of dried red liquid inside.
Though Tang Qing did not want to believe it, his intuition told him it might not be red wine—but something else entirely…
What Tang Qing did not realise was that these cobweb-laden rooms had clearly long been abandoned, proving that the servants usually did not enter or clean them.
The little maid Tang Qing cleaned the room at an unprecedented speed and left after closing the door.
Then he efficiently repeated the process, cleaning the next few rooms similarly.
Fortunately, these rooms were just dark and eerie—there were no strange creatures like spiders, which greatly relieved Tang Qing.
Soon, he arrived at the last room.
At the end of the fourth floor, the door of the room was completely different from the others. It was a tall, exquisite double door, carved with intricate patterns and emitting a cold metallic gleam. The door handles were two delicate silver dragon heads, and the lock was an extremely sophisticated silver piece, both beautiful and splendid.
The doorframe was adorned with dazzling Baroque-style decorations. Silver serpentine designs were sharp and icy, with snarling snakes sticking out blood-red tongues, sending a chill down one’s spine as if it were a magnificent trap—once a guest entered, escape would be nearly impossible.
Tang Qing tightened his fingers, took a deep breath, and finally pushed open the last door on the fourth floor; however, the scene before him stunned him instantly.
Tang Qing couldn’t help but scream out loud!
In the very centre of the room was an enormous coffin.
The coffin was carved with extremely luxurious patterns, radiating the precious gloss of redwood and gold. The coffin lid was equally lavish; aside from the usual decorations, its centre held a huge green gemstone that flickered with a strange and seductive glow under the candlelight.
Everything before him loudly proclaimed the extraordinary identity and status of the room’s owner.
Tang Qing’s heart immediately rose to his throat.
He didn’t dare glance any longer and hurriedly shut the door, clutching his chest with one hand, leaning against the door, gasping heavily.
It wasn’t that he was cowardly—it was just that this scene was far too sudden.
Who in their right mind would have such a huge coffin displayed at home?
Well, Countess Bathory certainly wasn’t from a normal family…
Tang Qing could only hope that the great figure was not sleeping inside that luxurious coffin at this very moment, and also hoped he hadn’t disturbed their leisurely, comfortable afternoon rest.
Shaken by the ominous coffin, Tang Qing decided to end today’s cleaning task immediately. He packed up his tools and left the fourth floor. This place was far too eerie; there was no way he’d be expected to clean the coffin as well.
He bent down and picked up the tools placed by the door.
“Maid Anne! I’ve finally got you!”
A cold and terrifying voice echoed, and a hand firmly grabbed Tang Qing.
Butler Andrew suddenly appeared behind Tang Qing.
His complexion was paler than ever before; his already gaunt face seemed completely drained of colour, as if he might wither away in the next second. Yet his eyes were even more sinister and ferocious, radiating a twisted excitement—that of a lunatic, filled only with cruelty and madness.
A gruesome scar stretched from his right eye down to the corner of his mouth, resembling a pink venomous snake permanently etched onto his face. The skin around the scar was twisted and distorted, and his left eye was temporarily blind, with a pupil that looked as if scorched by fire, emitting a faint, gloomy red glow.
Tang Qing was startled by Butler Andrew’s monstrous, neither-human-nor-ghost appearance.
“Thanks to you, Maid Anne, all this is because of you.”
Because the blood slaves in the dungeon were set free by this Eastern maid, and Young Master Julian had sheltered her, Countess Bathory could only unleash her fury on Butler Andrew.
Last night, the Countess whipped him for the entire night and even burned his face with fire.
These wounds were not only painful for him—the humiliation was even worse.
Andrew grabbed Tang Qing from behind with monstrous strength, locking his arms so tightly he couldn’t break free.
He leaned close to Tang Qing’s neck; his cold breath brushed over the skin like a summoning from the grim reaper.
“No wonder the young master likes you so much; your blood smells exquisitely delicious…” he muttered softly, as if savouring the finest wine.
“Let me taste it, Maid Anne, I promise to let you experience ecstasy too—”
With that, he suddenly tore open Tang Qing’s collar, revealing his fair and delicate neck.
Andrew’s fangs gleamed icy cold in the candlelight, seemingly eager to pierce the skin before him to claim the rich, fragrant blood.
Tang Qing felt a sharp pain on his arms; Andrew’s grip was immensely strong, and blood gushed from his arms.
But compared to the voracious mouth before him, his bleeding arms seemed insignificant.
“Maid Anne, you are truly sweet.”
Inhaling the scent of Tang Qing’s blood in the air, Andrew’s expression grew more ferocious.
“No… I don’t want to die…”
Tang Qing’s limbs weakened, but he was utterly unable to break free from the monstrous grasp of Butler Andrew’s hands.
For the first time, he vividly felt how powerless he was.
Just as the fangs were about to pierce, a black swirling shadow suddenly appeared behind Andrew.
The next second, a pale, bloodless hand shot out from the shadow, piercing straight through Andrew’s chest and clutching his heart.
Blood splattered, staining Andrew’s clothes and the floor red.
A tall and upright man stepped out from the shadows.
With the hand gripping Andrew’s heart, he lifted the entire man off the ground, then casually threw him to the floor—Andrew’s body hit the ground with a dull thud.
Andrew no longer showed any sign of life.
The man didn’t give Andrew another glance. Treating him like a piece of trash, he crushed the heart in his hand.
The still-beating crimson heart instantly turned to ash and vanished at the man’s fingertips.
Tang Qing had just freed himself from Andrew’s grasp; his skirt was soaked with Andrew’s blood. He could only weakly look at the tall man who suddenly appeared.
A beam of light streamed through the window and illuminated the man’s face—a strikingly handsome and stern visage. His black hair, like a waterfall, contrasted sharply with his pale, bloodless skin. His pupils glowed red, seemingly pulling souls into their depths.
He wore a casual yet luxurious purple ceremonial robe, its collar cut very low, revealing a sexy, firm, porcelain-white chest.
The man’s posture was tall, upright, and elegant—like a noble trained in refined etiquette, radiating royal arrogance and composure.
As he slowly approached Tang Qing, he realized that Tang Qing was clean, not a drop of Andrew’s blood staining him1well I think in this case he refers to Tang Qing’s body and not his skirt.
He lightly sniffed the air, a fragrance sweet and fresh unlike any he had ever experienced.
The crimson eyes flickered with a trace of excitement. The man looked down at the little maid briefly, then fixed his gaze firmly on the fair neck she exposed.
Tang Qing’s body hairs stood on end under that gaze, like a lamb caught in the sights of a predator.
Suddenly, the powerful man grabbed Tang Qing’s hand and silently dragged him into the room at the end of the corridor.
“Sir… what are you going to do?”
“Where are you taking me?”
The man’s arm strength was immense. Tang Qing staggered helplessly as he was pulled into the room at the corridor’s end, right up to the already-opened luxurious coffin.
The huge coffin was open inside, empty.
Clearly, this man who had suddenly appeared had come out of it.
Tang Qing looked at the man, feeling somewhat at a loss. The man’s gaze seemed chilling in the dim room. Suddenly, a faint, elusive smile flickered across his face.
A strong force suddenly yanked Tang Qing into the coffin.
Then the man’s cold body pinned Tang Qing down.
“A girl from the East?”
The man gentlemanly lifted Tang Qing’s delicate wrist, slowly licking the fresh blood seeping from his pale arm. His voice was a morbid, lingering tenderness, extremely affectionate:
“I promise you, this will bring you no harm—you will experience the supreme pleasure brought by a vampire’s embrace2I’m still not sure if I’m supposed to use the word Embrace or kiss in this scenario in pure bliss…”
As the man spoke, he slowly revealed cold, sharp fangs.
