Chapter 55

The taste of blood coats the inside of Wei Xiu’s mouth. The taste of iron mixes with the fragrance of osmanthus, so enticing he almost loses control. Of course, what has him losing control isn’t the pheromones, it’s the fact that the person he’s biting is Xu Yunchun, the one he’s always loved but never dared to touch.

I have him! He’s mine now! Crazy thoughts swirled through Wei Xiu’s head.

But finally, Wei Xiu stops. Years of proper education and the love he has for Xu Yunchun allow him to control himself. He knows that he can’t engage in such indecent behaviour at this time and in this place. It wouldn’t be good for Xu Yunchun, and he couldn’t do something like that to him.

Endless knocking is heard. Wei Xiu opens the door.

“Can I help you?”

“Is there a…”

Wei Xiu releases intense S-rank alpha pheromones, overwhelming the alpha to the point of suffocation, rendering him unable to speak further with no other choice but to scurry away.

Gaze cold, Wei Xiu scans the whole office, all present avoid eye-contact at all cost. The office door closes with a loud slam.

In the office, Xu Yunchun is still out of it. Ever since reincarnating, he had only ever seen heat cycles from the perspective of an outsider. This is his first time experiencing it for himself.

He finally understands why so many people are unable to hold back, it is quite easy to get carried away. Just now, when the young master was hugging him, he almost wanted to pull down his pants.

Wei Xiu: “Feel better?”

Xu Yunchun: “Yeah…”

Xu Yunchun gets up and looks at himself in the mirror and sees an evident bite mark on his nape.

Xu Yunchun: “Your bite hurts, young master.”

Wei Xiu: “….”

Xu Yunchun: “Have bite marks always been this deep?”

Wei Xiu feels incredibly awkward. That bite mark is a great testament to his slight lack of control.

The atmosphere between the two became even stranger; they’re well aware of each other’s feelings, but they’re too shy to dive deeper into the matter. Xu Yunchun stares at the mirror, attempting to use a suppressant patch to cover the wound, but he can’t quite line it up. He hasn’t even opened his mouth to ask for help before Wei Xiu is up to lend a hand. But, when the alpha stands behind Xu Yunchun, the memories of how it felt to bite him come rushing back, and all the blood goes rushing to his face.

“Stick it yourself.” Wei Xiu throws back the suppressant patch.

“Young master…nevermind.” Xu Yunchun wanted to let out a few pouty complaints, but then he felt uncomfortable. The words curl right back in right as they reach his lips.

How strange, they both think.

The two never tell anyone that they have a temporary mark between them, and they believed that no one would be able to tell. But higher level alphas and omegas are incomparably sensitive to pheromones, they can sense even the slightest change.

One day, the two are walking on the street. 

Before, Xu Yunchun would always nuzzle up to Wei Xiu which would annoy the alpha because of the excess body heat, still, he wouldn’t push him away. But now, with this new strangeness in their relationship, not only is Xu Yunchun reluctant to nuzzle up, he’s even keeping a distance, leaving the two walking one behind the other.

While walking, Xu Yunchun spies something fun on the side of the road. He wanted to call Wei Xiu to stop, but after some thought, he held off and stopped to look at it on his own. 

Thus, when Ji Chen notices the two in the distance while sitting in his car, he sees Wei Xiu walking up ahead by himself and Xu Yunchun lagging behind, as if he’d been neglected.

Ji Chen is elated. Did they fight? Is Wei Xiu finally over him?

No wonder, before Wei Xiu had wanted to remove his alpha glands for Xu Yunchun, but then the news of it died down. It must be that he’s lost interest in Xu Yunchun.

Ji Chen smiles proudly. He thinks, “if Wei Xiu is willing to come back and beg for him, he’ll be magnanimous, he won’t fuss about Wei Xiu’s past.”

“Drive slower.”

Ji Chen rolls down the car window, intending to revel in Xu Yunchun’s state of abandon. This beta has sat arrogantly for too long, he must have remembered his status now.

The driver slows down, the car glides by and Ji Chen pridefully looks out.

Right then, a gust of  wind blows, Ji Chen’s smile freezes in an instant, it’s then replaced with a look of confusion and surprise…why is Wei Xiu’s scent coming from Xu Yunchun’s body?

No matter how much an alpha is with a beta, there’s no way to leave pheromones on the beta’s body.

Could it be…that Xu Yunchun has become an omega?

Ji Chen suddenly has a realization. The reason Wei Xiu didn’t remove his glands isn’t because he’s over him, it’s because there’s no need to do so anymore.

Ji Chen had felt overly confident with his omega identity, always laughing at Xu Yunchun for being a beta. But now that Xu Yunchun is also an omega, what is left for him to laugh at. Wei Xiu has never even loved him.

As he is thinking this, Wei Xiu turns around and walks over to Xu Yunchun.

In the moment the car passes the two, Ji Chen sees Wei Xiu’s fingers twitch, as if he wants to hold Xu Yunchun’s hand, but is too scared of startling the other.

Wei Xiu’s loving yet cautious demeanor is like a slap in Ji Chen’s face. Suddenly a wave of unforeseen hate rushes into the jealous omega.

In the original novel, Ji Chen hates Shen Xi for stealing Wei Xiu, so he teams up with Xu Yunchun, who’s turned “evil” at this point, and they both kidnap Shen Xi. Xu Yunchun kills Shen Xi, but mistakenly injures Wei Xiu who came to save the omega and accidently also kills Ji Chen. It turns out to be a loss on all ends.

After the two reincarnated,  Ji Chen doesn’t even know who Shen Xi is and all his hate is directed at Xu Yunchun. And so, the plot of the original work still happens, it’s just that the kidnapped party is Xu Yunchun instead.

Ji Chen bribes some people to get a hold of Wei Xiu’s schedule and chooses the day Wei Xiu goes on a business trip to make a move.

“Mr. Ji, there’s another omega at his side.” One thug sends a message.

In the distance, Ji Chen sits in a car and sees a gorgeous omega walking with Xu Yunchun.

Ji Chen frowns and has the thugs wait until Xu Yunchun falls behind to make their move. Not even another minute later, Ji Chen sees the two suddenly stop, then the beautiful omega leaves.

Ji Chen immediately orders: “Now.”

A minute before, Xu Yunchun stops walking, then says to Shen Xi: “How about you go get something to eat.”

Shen Xi: “Is Wei Xiu asking for you again? Didn’t he go on a business trip? Why can’t he just leave you alone?”

Xu Yunchun: “It’s not that the young master can’t leave me alone! I just have something to do! Come on, now! Go!”

Confused, Shen Xi can only leave.

Xu Yunchun walks along the way, alone. Suddenly, he turns around and hurls the drugs he was holding in his hand at the people behind him.

Several thugs are ready to attack, but the line of them that were hit immediately falls to the floor.

Xu Yunchun chuckles: “Ji Chen sent you?”

When it comes to kidnapping, Xu Yunchun has overtaken much more than this band of thugs. These guys have no idea what they’re dealing with.
