Wen Mingyi slapped her hand away, covered his face, and looked at her, putting his guard up.

Wen Wei sighed and looked around the house helplessly. “It’s too dirty here. Let’s find an auntie to clean it up tomorrow. Let me bring you to your godmother’s house for tonight.”

Wen Mingyi let out a snort, turned around and walked out the door.

Wen Wei looked at him and didn’t understand why he was hmph-ing.

Si Junduo was chatting with his parents when he heard the door opening, and when he turned his head, he saw Wen Wei and Wen Mingyi returning. He was not surprised by this result at all. Wen Mingyi had lived in a rented house during the first half of the year, then lived with him in the second half. Not staying in his own home during this time, it stood to be true, that the house would now be filled with too much dust.

In previous years, before Wen Wingyi’s parents came back, Si Junduo would hire someone to clean the house in advance, but this time Wen Mingyi had firmly not allowed it. He did not expect Wen Wingyi to come back with his parents, so the house was still filled with dust; it wasn’t lovable in any way.

Ji Siyao smiled when they saw them coming back. “It seems that Jun Jun is right. You’ll have to rest at my house tonight.”

Wen Wei sat down next to her and nodded. “Will wait till tomorrow to find an auntie to clean it up ba. Ming Ming, you really don’t need to go home at all. I thought you would stay at home for a few days.”

Wen Mingyi: “Hmph.”

Wen Wei looked at Si Junduo. “Why does he keep hmph-ing? Does he usually talk to you like this?”

“Of course not,” Wen Mingyi stated confidently. “Can you compare with my ge? Do I know you? How many times have I met with you throughout the year? Do you and I have proper conversations? And yet you still want to compare yourself with my ge? Touch your heart, feel your conscience and ask yourself, are you worthy?”

Wen Wei: …

Wen Wei felt that she could answer this question without feeling her conscience. Not worthy… When Wen Mingyi was young, she was worthy, but when Wen Mingyi grew up, she was unworthy.

Wen Wei pleased him with a smile, and said softly, “I was wrong.”

“And then?”

“Then?” Wen Wei was puzzled.

Wen Mingyi knew it. “Dared to admit mistakes yet never repent?! This is so you!”

Wen Wei helplessly replied, “Baby, I had no choice.”

Wen Mingyi snorted coldly.

Wen Wei quickly promised him, “After I finish my work for the coming few years, I will rest and go home to accompany you.”

Come home to accompany me? I’m afraid that your son will be gone by then!

Wen Mingyi became more and more furious when he thought of this, and so ate an extra half bowl of rice!

After dinner, Wen Wei distributed the gifts she’d bought to everyone, then took Wen Mingyi back to the bedroom to feel the love between mother and child. However, Wen Mingyi didn’t want to have a deep affection between mother and son. Wen Mingyi only wanted to know that after he died, his mother recognising that thief was because of her impaired three world views or because she was affected by the protagonist’s halo.

“I ask you,” Wen Mingyi solemnly described, “If one day I die because I was pushed by someone, and a car came and knocked me down, whose responsibility is it?”

Wen Wei thought he was condemning herself for not being by his side, and hurriedly said, “My responsibility, blame me for not being by your side.”

Wen Mingyi: …

Wen Mingyi helplessly held his forehead. “Other than you.”

“And your father, blame him for not being with you, we are both at fault.”

“I’m not asking you to find the reason between you and dad now. I mean, who is to blame for this incident? Is it the driver or is it the person who pushed me?”

Wen Wei nodded. “Both.” She looked at Wen Mingyi, puzzled. “Why are you asking this suddenly? I thought you were asking because you thought I didn’t care about you?”

“You don’t care about me indeed, but this is not the main point. The point is, if I died like I said and these two people come to you to pray for your forgiveness, will you forgive?”

“Of course not.”

“Then what if the other party said that he didn’t mean it, he just accidentally pushed me, didn’t expect the car to come over, didn’t expect me to die, feels very guilty and can’t sleep at all, his whole face covered with tears. Then he begs for your forgiveness, wanting to make up for his own mistakes, and since it was his mistake that caused you to lose your child, then from today onwards, he will treat you as his biological parents and replace your lost child with filial piety. Would you agree?”

Wen Wei was shocked. “Can it become like this?!”

Of course it could! After his death in the original book, Jiang Zimo and Wen Bo had said so line by line, and then! His parents, who seemed to have lost their intelligence, even felt that Jiang Zimo had a good character, and treated the incident as unintentional, recognizing this thief as their own! When Wen Mingyi recalled back, he couldn’t wait to vomit blood on his mother’s delicate makeup!

So furious until he could flip! Jiang Zimo, that bitch, really sucked his blood every step of the way as he reached the peak. Not to mention his parents! Also willingly let Jiang Zimo suck their blood! So infuriating!

Wen Wei looked at her angered son who was staring back at her. She didn’t understand what he was so angry about. All she could do was answer his question, “He caused me to lose a child, and he still wants me to be his mother? Is he not afraid of me beating him to death?”

Hmph, of course he was not afraid. He was the protagonist! Besides, you didn’t hit him at all in the original book! You even thought he was pretty good!

“So would you agree?”

“I would agree that he should go to prison and let him regret it,” Wen Wei stated without hesitation.

“Remember what you said!”

Wen Wei nodded, and couldn’t help saying, “I don’t need to remember this kind of thing, normal people would all do this.”

I’m afraid you will not be a normal person by then!

Wen Mingyi thought, but he was still worried. He stretched out his hand and asked Wen Wei to ask for his mobile phone, and then turned on the recording function.”What did I just tell you to remember?”

Wen Wei: …

“You even want to record it?”

“I don’t just want to record it, I want to test you every day!” Wen Mingyi said sharply. “The first thing you do when you wake up every day is to listen to this recording, understood?”

Wen Wei didn’t understand. “Baby, what’s the matter with you?”

Wen Mingyi looked at her puzzled eyes, thought about it, releasing the record button. In half-truth, he said, “I had a dream two days ago. I dreamed that I was dead, pushed by someone, and died under the car. And do you know what happened next? The person who pushed me found you, confessed his mistake, said it was unintentional, and said he will be your son in the future. And you! My dear mother, you agreed!”

Wen Wei was shocked. “That’s impossible!”

“Nothing is impossible. Not only did you agree, but you were also very kind to him!”

Wen Wei was even more shocked. “Was I crazy?”

Wen Mingyi nodded. “I think so.”

Impossible.” Wen Wei didn’t believe him. “Dreams are projections of people’s subconscious minds. Baby, in your heart, am I that person?”

Wen Mingyi shook his head. “Not before, but now…”

He looked Wen Wei up and down, weighing her. “Seems probable.”

Wen Wei felt that she was really being wronged. “How can you think of me like that? You are my son, under pain and hardship, the one I gave birth to. Although after you entered high school, I didn’t care about you much, that’s because I knew you were doing well, that Jun Jun is taking good care of you. I only have you as my child. How could I not care about you, and how could I forgive the person who killed you?”

Wen Mingyi looked back at her because of her words and saw the sadness in her eyes. His heart softened. “Then you have to remember what you said. You can’t forgive the person who killed me!”

“Of course I won’t.” Wen Wei was depressed. “You can’t just treat me like this because I haven’t been with you for the past few years.”

She sighed. “I want to accompany you too, but I’m really too busy. After working on this and that, sometimes I want to come back and see you. When I’m at the airport, other things happen. It’s not that I don’t miss you but I’m too busy. If you really mind, then I will try to come back to see you as much time as possible from this year on, okay?”

“Whatever you want,” Wen Mingyi mouthed off.

Wen Wei hugged him. “Don’t be angry anymore. My Ming Ming is the best, the very best.”

Wen Mingyi struggled a little, but didn’t break away.

“That’s right.” He suddenly thought of something, took out his phone and brought a picture of Jiang Zimo out. “The person who killed me in my dream looks like this.”

Wen Wei looked at the photos on his mobile phone and said in surprise, “Your dreams are quite specific, even having the character’s photos.”

“Look at how real my dream is!” Wen Mingyi looked at her and emphasized, “Remember this person’s face, this is not a good person. He killed me in the dream, and in the real world he also instigated my ge and my relationship.”

“He instigated your relationship with Jun Jun?”

Wen Mingyi nodded his head. “He doesn’t think I am worthy of my ge, getting me ge to leave me alone, letting me fend for myself.”

Wen Wei was dissatisfied. “Why is he caring so much about this? He should fend for himself instead.”

“That’s right!” Wen Mingyi echoed. “He acts too much.”

Wen Wei nodded.

“So when you see him in the future, you must not give him face.”

“Don’t worry.” Wen Wei rubbed his face. “Just based on his worth, he can’t meet me at all. Even when he meets me, I won’t bother to care about him.”

“That’s right.”

When it was almost nine o’clock, Wen Mingyi left Wen Wei’s room, indicating that he was going to sleep.

“So early.”

“Early to bed and early to get up is good for one’s health. If you still have problems, come see me again after 9 o’clock tomorrow morning.”

“Alright. Then, good night baby. Don’t have that scary and unrealistic dream anymore.”

Wen Mingyi: “…Good night.”

Wen Mingyi got out of Wen Wei’s bedroom, saw no one around, and ran into Si Junduo’s room.

Si Junduo originally thought he would go back to his room to sleep today, but unexpectedly, as it almost reached 9 p.m., he came over.

“Done talking with your mother?”

“It’s over.” Wen Mingyi laid on the bed. “So tired. But…”

He was silent for a moment, and said softly, “It’s better than I thought.”

Fortunately, based on the book at this time, it should only be because of Jiang Zimo’s halo that forcefully provided a route for him to cause his parents to lose their intelligence. Wen Mingyi felt a little better when he thought of this. Otherwise, he really couldn’t help but commit unfilial piety, to let Wen Wei know what it meant when her son was gone!

Si Junduo looked at him, sat down beside him, and touched his head before asking,”What’s wrong?”

As he rubbed, he suddenly felt that something didn’t feel right. As soon as he lowered his gaze, he found Wen Mingyi had turned into the little orange cat he was familiar with.

Wen Mingyi was still preparing to answer the question. He opened his mouth, yet only the sound of a “Meow~” came out.

Si Junduo smiled. Wen Mingyi slapped him with his paw in dissatisfaction. What was that smile for!

Si Junduo took the cat into his arms and continued to stroke across his head and back.

Wen Mingyi felt a little comforted by the movement, so he simply laid flat and let him touch — one stroke, withdrawing, stroke by stroke.

The two played, when suddenly, there was a knock on the door.

Si Junduo hurriedly hid the little orange cat under the quilt.

Wen Mingyi: ? ? ? Why hide him! He didn’t have the face to see people? !

Using his paw, Wen Mingyi patted at him, a little unhappy. However, Si Junduo felt this was rather comfortable, hence he didn’t focus on him. The next second, the door opened. It was Ji Siyao, Si Junduo’s mother.

Si Junduo asked puzzledly, “Something’s up?”

“There is something,” Ji Siyao said.

“What?”

Ji Siyao smiled. “Jun Jun, you probably won’t be too busy during the Chinese New Year right?”

“What do you want to say?”

“Mom wants to request one thing from you.”

Si Junduo sensed it would not be a good thing. “I refuse.”

“Can’t refuse.” Ji Siyao shook her finger and sat down beside him.

Si Junduo quickly pushed the unmoving orange cat deeper into the quilt.

Wen Mingyi who was pushed back into the quilt: …

Ji Siyao didn’t notice his movements and said softly, “My friend’s daughter wants to travel here after the new year. Your father and I can’t play with you young people at this age. So, when the time comes, you’ll help me entertain her ba.”

Wen Mingyi’s cat ears instantly lifted: A friend’s… daughter?

The author has something to say:

Gong and Shou are not related by blood, neighbor Gege, neighbor Didi, called Ge because of politeness.

Ge Ge: Rejected.

Ming Ming, the orange cat: Let me out, let me hear!

Ge Ge: Be good, stay in the quilt.

Cookie: I’ve been dying with laughter and tears this entire ch T-T

Bubbles: HAHAHAHAH

  1. After already finishing this with MTL and just keeping up with the TL, I’m still iffy on the parents, but I gotta admit the way Wen Mingyi and Wen Wei interact is cute.
