Wen Mingyi saw him coming and his body reacted faster than his brain. Before Jiang Zimo could approach, Wen Mingyi turned around; with his left hand he covered Si Junduo’s mouth and with his right one he covered his eyes.

Si Junduo: “…”

Jiang Zimo: “…”

Wen Mingyi looked back at Jiang Zimo, showing his white teeth as his eyes curved from his smile. “Hey, it’s been so long since I last saw you. Walk out slowly. I won’t send you out.”

Jiang Zimo heard these words and was taken aback. Just when he was about to reply, he saw Si Junduo take Wen Mingyi’s hands away from his eyes and mouth. He looked at Wen Mingyi helplessly as the latter raised his eyebrows, his eyes filled with warning.

Si Junduo kept quiet. Holding Wen Mingyi’s wrist, he walked past Jiang Zimo towards Lin Mu.

“Notify all middle and higher-level leaders, we will have a meeting in the main conference room at 2:30pm this afternoon.”

“Noted,” Lin Mu replied.

Jiang Zimo saw him walk past without even batting an eye. he couldn’t help but call out, “Junduo.”

Si Junduo heard his call. He paused and turned his head to look at him. “Don’t come here in the future. For work-related matters, please find your leader to solve them.”

Saying so, he looked at Lin Mu again. “You are responsible for this. Next time, don’t let him come up.”

Hearing this, Jiang Zimo quickly walked to him and reached out to grab his clothes. Yet, his hands were avoided by Si Junduo.

“What are you planning?” Jiang Zimo questioned. “Are you planning to break off?”

Si Junduo coolly stared at him. “Like I’ve said before, don’t look for me, Jiang Zimo. I’m serious.”

“Why?” Jiang Zimo was dissatisfied. “Just because of Wen Mingyi, just because he doesn’t like me?”

“You are too noisy,” Si Junduo plainly stated. “This is time for work. With you being like this, it will affect other people’s work.”

Jiang Zimo gaped in disbelief at the man in front of him. He was puzzled. The distance between the two was small, yet he could not understand the other. At this moment, Jiang Zimo abruptly realized he had never truly understood Si Junduo. He had always believed there was some form of affection between them. However, looking at it now, the affection he thought had existed seemed so laughable.

Jiang Zimo gave an ugly smile. Bringing with him a bit of self-deprecation and sorrow, he turned back and walked into the elevator with his head lowered down.

Wen Mingyi stared at him until his back disappeared from view. He then blinked and faced Si Junduo who stood beside him. “He’s gone.”

En,” Si Junduo answered in a flat tone as he held Wen Mingyi’s wrist whilst leading him into his office.

Lin Mu patted his heart as an after-thought and silently returned to his seat.

It wasn’t the first time Wen Mingyi came to Si Junduo’s office. He familiarly sat down on the sofa and started playing on his phone.

Si Junduo turned on his computer and started to work.

He asked Lin Mu for a cup of coffee. Wen Mingyi also took this opportunity to ask for a cup of milk tea. When Lin Mu came in, he saw two people – one looking at the files, another playing with a phone. They didn’t disturb each other, looking very harmonious.

He placed the milk tea on the coffee table in front of Wen Mingyi’s sofa. Thanking him, Wen Mingyi picked it up and took a sip.

Si Junduo happened to raise his eyes at this time, inadvertently seeing Wen Mingyi’s pale slender fingers holding the milk tea cup. He instantly remembered the sensation he had felt when he’d held Wen Mingyi’s warm wrist, soft yet firm with joints.

Si Junduo unconsciously stared at Wen Mingyi’s wrist until the other called him. His soul came back. Wen Mingyi asked, “What’s the matter?”

“Do you want to drink milk tea?” Wen Mingyi held his milk tea cup up. “I saw you staring at my cup.”

Si Junduo awkwardly coughed, and cordially responded, “No need. You drink, but drink less.”

Wen Mingyi let out a perfunctory ‘oh’, lowered his head and continued to play his game.

After the game ended, he opened his WeChat and saw that there were many unread messages.

Xu Wei: I saw the hot search. Wen Mingyi, do you and Senior Si Junduo actually know each other?

Xu Wei: I’m so sorry. I didn’t know you guys knew each other. Hope you didn’t mind the previous time when I talked about you two as a CP.

Xu Wei: Wen Mingyi, are you there? Are you upset? I really didn’t have any bad intentions, I just said it casually, I thought you didn’t know each other. I was wrong. Sorry.

Xu Wei: Wen Mingyi, when you read my messages, please reply. I promise I won’t talk nonsense anymore. Sorry.

Wen Mingyi read each of them and typed back: It’s okay, I don’t mind and I wasn’t angry. I was just busy so I didn’t see it. Don’t worry about it.

Xu Wei should have been waiting for his reply as she immediately sent a new message over: It’s good that you aren’t angry. I was so scared to death. There won’t be a next time. Don’t worry, you continue to do your own thing, ba.

Wen Mingyi returned her expression, feeling that she was being rather sensitive. He really didn’t care much about this kind of thing. After all, when he first participated in the competition, his fans had paired him up with several popular picks every day. He and Zheng Feng even had CP fans. When Wen Mingyi discovered it, he was stunned. That dog Zheng Feng even had CP fans with himself? These fans were really too bold. This CP channel was too productive!

Therefore, he didn’t mind being paired with Si Junduo as a CP. Rather than him with Zheng Feng, it was better to pair himself with Si Junduo. How great Si Junduo was, worth more than 180 Zheng Feng strung together!

As Wen Mingyi responded to this information, he found that there was a red dot in the address book. He clicked it open. Someone wanted to add him as a friend. The person wrote in the remarks: Cheng Lu, your agent.

Wen Mingyi quickly responded: Hello.

Cheng Lu acknowledged back: Hello. I am your agent, you can call me Cheng-jie. Can you give me your email address? I’ll send you the script of ‘Pet Romance’. This drama will start filming next month. You should familiarize yourself with the script as soon as possible and perform well.

Wen Mingyi wrote back: Understood.

After that, he gave Cheng Lu an email he used frequently. After a while, the mailbox indicated that he had received an email.

Wen Mingyi forwarded the email to Si Junduo. “My script is here. Can you print it for me?”

Si Junduo could only download and print out the script for him.

He read it through.

Wen Mingyi walked over and took away the script, smiling. “You took a peek.”

So, Si Junduo then made another copy and openly read it.

Wen Mingyi: “…”

Wen Mingyi could not understand. “Why are you reading? You’re not the one acting.”

“Reading to see if there is anything wrong inside with the three world views1Outlook on life, world outlook and values.”

“Really?” Wen Mingyi gave him a glance. “I thought you wanted to see if there were any kissing scenes in it.”

Upon hearing this, Si Junduo unconsciously thought of the accidental kiss this morning. The youth’s lips were soft as petals, the touch gentle and sweet. He couldn’t help but purse his lips. Coughing slightly, he firmly placed the accident at the back of his head, yet the words ‘kissing scene’ brought him back.

“You are still young. You don’t need to shoot these kinds of scenes if you don’t want to film them. There isn’t a plot that can only be carried on by kissing scenes, right?”

Wen Mingyi looked at him speechlessly. “I’m eighteen already. I am a man.”

“So?”

“Adults have the right to take kiss scenes.”

Si Junduo smiled. “Adults have. You don’t.”

Wen Mingyi blurted out, “Ge, have you not kissed anyone before?”

Si Junduo didn’t answer him directly, and said warmly, “Take care of yourself first.”

Wen Mingyi shook his head. “You don’t fall in love, don’t kiss others, and don’t even allow me to film kiss scenes. Such a state official, you don’t set fire, but you also don’t let the common people light the flames.”

Si Junduo calmly stated, “I treat everyone equally and lead by example.”

“Yes, yes.” Wen Mingyi nodded. “You are strict with yourself and others.”

“Not others. Only strict with you.”

Wen Mingyi heard this and burst into laughter.

Si Junduo was perplexed. “What are you laughing at?”

Wen Mingyi looked at him and reminded him, “The green man is wrong, especially the green me! I am your childhood sweetheart didi afterall!”

Si Junduo was taken aback for a moment. When he was able to react, he was torn between crying and laughing. There was nothing he could do with Wen Mingyi, and thus he could only say, “Go back to your sofa and read the script. Stop disturbing me.”

Wen Mingyi sat back with a smile. “See if you still dare to green2something along the lines of embarrassment me.”

Si Junduo reluctantly took out a few candies from the drawer and threw them at him. “Eat these candies. Don’t talk.”

Wen Mingyi reached out to catch. He peeled off the candy wrappers and ate them.

At the same time, the official blog of ‘Pet Romance’ also announced the latest development: The beginning is within sight. Official announcement tomorrow!

As soon as his Weibo was published, the forum immediately became lively.

“The ‘Pet Romance’ is about to be announced! This drama is finally being produced!!!”

“According to the previous news, the male and female leads are basically certain. It must be Xu Jingjie and Yan Feifei. I’m more curious about the other characters, like Le Chi.”

“There seems to be no news about Le Chi. It is very difficult to find an actor for this role. Must be young, good-looking, and youthful. Just having this youthful criteria will eliminate many actors.”

“Yeah, I looked at the 18-year-old male actors online. There are only a few, and they don’t look good. To be honest, I just want Le Chi to be handsome. As long as he is handsome enough, even if his age is a little older, I can still bear it.”

“I cannot! Le Chi has to be young. I would rather he be uglier and still be a young little brother acting!”

“Just afraid that in the end he’ll be both ugly and not young.”

The book fan read the comment and his heart turned sour. “It’s too hard for me, my poor little Le Le!”

“But I had previously heard that Shang Chengze seems to be the second male lead in this show.”

“Really? Shang Chengze looks pretty good, but he has never had a big hit. If this show explodes, he is going to be at the pinnacle of his career.”

“It should be. Maybe he’s expectant of how this drama will turn out. After all, Yan Feifei and Xu Jingjie, as the popular Xiao Hua and Xiao Sheng, are also IP adaptations. If no accidents occur, this drama will definitely explode.”

“So our Le Le is the only one who will be the ugly duckling? Le Le fans cry together. Our Le Le is obviously very handsome in the book!”

“Think of the bright side. It’s mainly because at this age, Le Le is too awkward. Choices are little. The actor playing him would probably be in his twenties. Xu Jingjie is only twenty-five. He is the male lead. To find another of the same age, and even handsome or as handsome as him, would Xu Jingjie be willing?”

“Even if Xu Jingjie is willing, will Shang Chengze be willing? Shang Chengze also counts on this to ascend up!”

“I understand this reasoning. I just feel uncomfortable. My heart hurts for Le Le.” Le Chi’s fans wept.

“I heard, not sure if it’s true – they’re rumors after all – that Zeng Fengshi recently came into contact with the character of Le Chi. I don’t know if it will be him in the end.”

“Who is Zeng Fengshi?” Le Chi’s fans asked.

Very quickly, a photo was attached. Le Chi’s fans looked at it. Their two eyes turned black. They almost fainted!

“How the fuck is this Le Le!!! How does he look 18! He is 28! I don’t care. If the announcement tomorrow really is about him acting as Le Le, if he dares to act as him, then don’t blame me for cursing! Isn’t he aware of his age? It’s fine if he acted as others. But to act as Le Chi, the youngest character in the whole book, is he crazy?!”

“My God, this letter girl is willing to be a vegetarian for one month. Begging Le Le to not be this dear friend. Dear friend, open your eyes and take a look at the world. There are still many good characters in this world, why must you insist on this character? This doesn’t match with your image.”

The book fans were incredibly worried and anxious as they prayed in their hearts. Don’t let it be Zeng Fengshi. It was really impossible. You could axe off this Le Chi character but the difference couldn’t be so big, ah!

Amidst their state of anxiety, the cast of ‘Pet Romance’ was announced the next day.

The author has something to say:

Today, the book fans who heard the rumors: I’m dead.
Tomorrow, the book fans who see Ming Ming: Help me up, I can still fight!

  1. “Yeah, I looked at the 18-year-old male actors online. There are only a few, and they don’t look good.”

What… What the fuck are they talking about. Since when is is hard to find young, good looking actors. That’s not a thing.

    • Probably, not just the age? There’re a lot of 18 y/o actors, that’s true, but most likely the thing they’re talking about is the one who’s free (in other entertainment novels, usually actors rarely had free time and acts after the previous one is done, there’s also the issue of resources, since it was told that the IP is good, the one that’s able to act in such a crucial role should be little in number as well) and fits the criteria (physical, personality, temperament).

  2. Idk it feels kinda predatory for them to thrist over such a young character I do hope that maybe this character is fan favorite for some other real valid reason instead of just this…..
