Gu Chen rushed forward and immediately pulled Long Junhao into his embrace, his heart beating anxiously in his chest. He took out his phone and quickly made a phone call, “stay put for now and guard the front. We have people here already.”

Long Junhao trembled slightly in Gu Chen’s arms as he saw Chu Jian rushing into the fray with Luo Yi and the medical staff chasing behind. He shifted his attention to the forest where he could hear sounds of many people fighting but saw no one. He was silent for a long time before he asked, “is it Lei Yan’s men?”

Gu Chen shook his head, “no, these people were obviously prepared to break in. There will be too many casualties with this method of doing things, Lei Yan would never use such a stupid method.”

Long Junhao’s anxious heart eased a little at his words and he asked in surprise, “then who are they? Where did they come from?”

“I don’t know.” Gu Chen replied. He looked at the dean’s assistant carrying a rifle and at Shu Wen’s entourage running straight for them, and patted Long Junhao’s head, “be good and leave this place with Shu Wen.”

Long Junhao stretched out his trembling hand, “…what about him?”

Gu Chen looked in the direction he pointed, only to see Taoist Master Chu being thrown to the side again. The two mercenaries angrily shouted at Luo Yi and the group of medical staff, “can’t you people just haul him away?! The boss paid you to work and not idle around right?! Right?!”

The medical staff also started to get angry and they shouted back, “but the dean didn’t give us a tranquilizer! In any case, he’s in your territory right now so do your job! The dean didn’t hire you to idle around too, right? Right?!”

“……”

The taoist master slowly got up from the ground, his taoist robes a mess. The wooden sword he wielded had long been broken into two and was nowhere to be seen, however, that did not demoralize him. “Bold evil spirits! For daring to attack me… I will show you what fear truly is after I defeat you!”

The two mercenaries immediately cried, “sir, we beg you. Can you go back and train first before coming back? The next time you come, we’ll willingly surrender ourselves, abstain from meat and pray to Buddha. We’ll wholeheartedly do good deeds, study hard to make progress everyday and strive to get another three good students by the end of the year… isn’t that great?” As soon as they finished talking, there was a loud noise behind them and their expressions immediately changed, “f*ck! Grenades! Exactly what kind of army is this?!”

“Bold evil spirits, what sort of black arts are you using now?” Taoist Master Chu shook his sleeves and clasped his hands behind his back before announcing impressively, “this taoist master shall defeat you today!”

The two cried again, “sir, men should sympathise with men ahh!”

“Hah, you are evil spirits, not men!”

“……”

Seeing that Chu Jian’s attention was elsewhere, Luo Yi rushed over and prepared to grab onto him. But it was at this moment, Chu Jian leaned to the side and Luo Yi was flung away by a beautiful shoulder throw. The action was clean and precise, and without any unnecessary movement, indicating that he had gone through strict training.

Chu Jian raised his head and was stunned. He looked down at his hands, and looked at his disciple on the ground before murmuring, “why did my magic arts suddenly become stronger…”

“…..” The two mercenaries weakly said, “w-why are we o-okay…”

“Ow…” Luo Yi rolled on the ground and sighed, “that’s because you didn’t provoke his body to react. There, you’ve seen it already, it’s not that I don’t want to carry him away, I can’t!”

Long Junhao’s mouth gaped wide open and he couldn’t say anything for a while, “I-I-I almost forgot that he was…”

“Even if it was in the past and he isn’t what he is now, his body still remembers. Although he doesn’t have a weapon now, fighting him would still mean death.” Gu Chen assessed the situation in front of him and issued a brief order to Shu Wen’s entourage, “you can choose to knock Shu Wen out or tie him up, just take him away.” After that, he glanced at Luo Yi and at Chu Jian’s entourage who were huddling together and crying while saying their last words, “you guys leave too. For the time being, you don’t need to care about Chu Jian.”

As soon as the medical staff heard his words, it was like they were being pardoned of a crime and they were immediately overwhelmed by gratitude. They scattered away instantly and soon, not a trace of them was left. Long Junhao opened his mouth, “Gu Chen…” He weakly said, “you’re my main doctor right…”

“Yes.” Gu Chen replied and looked at the assistant in front of him. The sad little assistant still had tears in his eyes and he sniffed before taking out a pistol from his back waist. He raised the rifle in his other hand and brought both of them in front of Gu Chen, signaling for him to choose.

“Gu Chen,” Long Junhao continued weakly, “then why do they follow your orders…”

Gu Chen picked out the pistol and touched Long Junhao’s head, “I’ll tell you about it after I come back.” After that, he glanced at Su Cong, who was already standing at the side and smiling happily, and pulled Long Junhao to stand beside him. And without a word, he walked into the forest with the assistant.

Long Junhao looked at Su Cong in surprise and questions formed in his head, “why didn’t he ask you to leave as well? And why did he pull me to you? You and him… I’m asking, do you and Gu Chen really have feelings for each other?”

Su Cong remained smiling and ignored his question, “your highness, do you want to listen to a song?”

Long Junhao looked at Chu Jian who was in a mess, and looked at Gu Chen’s back in the distance before he blankly nodded, “lis… listen to what song?”

Su Cong also looked at Gu Chen’s back and suggested with a smile, “how about ‘Farewell to My Concubine’?”

“……” Long Junhao turned back to look at him and asked after a long silence, “you’re actually taking revenge on me, aren’t you? Just because I accused you of having an affair with Gu Chen?”

Su Cong smiled and did not answer.

A cold wind blew, causing Long Junhao to scrunch up his neck. He silently walked away from Su Cong and moved to Luo Yi’s side.

Luo Yi never got back up from the ground after being thrown, instead, he had found a spot to sit and was now smoking. He took in a long puff of smoke before slowly exhaling and watched as Taoist Master Chu once again flew out from the fray and fell onto the ground.

“……” Long Junhao didn’t know how to react, “do you need my help?”

Luo Yi sighed and pointed his cigarette at the person who became braver the more he fought, “…can you persuade him to come back?”

Long Junhao pondered for a moment, “It’s possible. I’ll persuade him to come and rest for a bit. Then, I want to stand with you guys.”

Luo Yi was surprised, “why with us?”

“Huh,” Long Junhao blinked his honest eyes, “it’s safer being with you guys.”

“Forget it, there,” Luo Yi said as he pointed at Yu Ao who was standing in the distance, “do you see? Your doctor is afraid that Lei Yan will take advantage of the chaos and take you away, that’s why he placed you next to Su Cong. Be good and listen to him.”

Due to his position, Long Junhao didn’t realise that Yu Ao was here until Luo Yi pointed him out. He thought about it for a moment, well, he has a point… After resisting the urge to wave to Yu Ao, he asked curiously, “how do you know Lei Yan? And also that Yu Ao was sent by him?”

“I know a lot of things… more than you think I know…” Luo Yi took a puff of cigarette and watched through the smoke as someone flew past him again. He sighed heavily.

Long Junhao immediately squatted down beside him, “what about Su Cong? Do you know what’s the relationship between him and Gu Chen? Do they have feelings for each other?”

Luo Yi only smiled in answer and looked at the two mercenaries. It was clear that they had lost all their patience already and were now discussing, “why don’t we drag him back and tie him onto the bed before coming back? We can’t provide support now anyway.”

The other party considered for a while, “okay, let’s do it.” The two of them immediately rushed up to Chu Jian, cracking their knuckles and with their eyes glinting in excitement. But it was at this moment that another explosion happened from within the forest, the sound louder than before. It was obvious that the enemy was getting closer.

The two mercenaries exchanged glances and one of them patted the other’s shoulder, “I’ll go support, so I’ll leave this to you…” The moment he finished talking, he disappeared off into the distance.

“……” The person left behind silently turned his head to look at Chu Jian.

Luo Yi once again sighed and pressed his cigarette on the ground. He waited for Chu Jian to rush in again and get thrown out again before rushing over and hugging his thigh. He said in agony, “master, I’ve been tainted by the evil spirit’s power and can’t live any longer. This disciple won’t be able to take care of you in the future so you must take good care of yourself ahh!”

“……”

Long Junhao looked at the person on the ground and thought to himself. So he is also a talented person!

Chu Jian bent over immediately to look at him, “what’s wrong? Where are you hurt? Let me see, I have an elixir of life.”

“Master…” Luo Yi raised his head to look at him and was just about to fake a serious injury and pretend to be nearly dead when he saw the mercenary creeping up behind Chu Jian, obviously taking advantage of the situation to try and knock him out. He immediately called out in surprise, “don’t—”

But it was too late. The mercenary lunged at Chu Jian.

Chu Jian only felt a slight breeze from behind and dodged to one side in reflex. His elbow instantly shot out to counterattack and hit the mercenary’s chest before he effortlessly grabbed hold onto one of his arms and twisted it behind his back. A crisp cracking sound could be heard.

Luo Yi weakly asked, “…is it broken?”

The mercenary’s expression distorted, “…it’s broken.”

Luo Yi nodded his head, “congratulations, you’ve triggered his muscle memory…”

“……” The mercenary stumbled back a few steps and gasped for air as he clutched his chest, “I think my ribs are broken too…”

Luo Yi was still tightly holding onto Chu Jian’s thighs with no intentions of letting go and looked up at him, “you deserved it…”

“……”

The culprit once again was in a daze as he stared at his hand and said, “recently, my skill has increased greatly. It might not be long before I ascend as an immortal…”

“……” Luo Yi subconsciously opened his mouth to reply, but the noise from the forest became louder again and Chu Jian became angry, “those bold evil spirits are wreaking havoc again!” With that, he made a move to rush in again.

Luo Yi who was still hugging onto his thigh also got angry, “what exactly are those people doing?!” He shouted at Long Junhao and the half-crippled mercenary, “hold him down for me while I’ll call someone!”

The two people immediately understood and went forward to hold Chu Jian down, giving Luo Yi enough time to take out his phone. But instead of calling, he silently stared at it for a long time.

Long Junhao was trying his best to hold down the person and shouted out, “what the hell are you thinking about?! Make the call!”

“I can’t…” Luo Yi covered his head and said in agony, “I don’t know which group of people to call…”

Long Junhao’s voice grew louder, “how many groups do you even have?!”

“I…” Luo Yi opened his mouth to speak but suddenly there was a roar in the sky. He looked up and saw a helicopter approaching and his pupils immediately shrank, “……”

Long Junhao froze, “what?”

“…” He pointed at the symbol on the helicopter and said grimly, “Chu Jian’s former subordinates.”

“Chu Jian’s former subordinates?” Long Junhao asked, “aren’t they yours too?”

Luo Yi turned to look at him and after a long moment of silence, he reluctantly replied, “I’m actually… really…”

“……”
