Gu Chen had incurred communal anger when Long Junhao decided to be an evil person and tyrannized everyone in the institution.
“General Gu!” The staff in the institution prostrated miserably at his feet. “How have you offended the prince? Why are we the targets used to vent because of your bedroom problems!?”
“Yes, everyone in the institution knows that you two sleep together. Nobody believes that you two still have a pure relationship!”
Gu Chen was helpless. “I haven’t done anything at all.”
There was a momentary silence before someone cried out, “It’s because you haven’t done anything! The prince vents his anger on us because his desires aren’t satisfied!”
“…”
The staff pondered for a bit, and someone spoke up, “If need be… you can just voluntarily lie down.”
“…”
Long Junhao walked over casually. “What are you all doing here? Discussing some of the great issues of life?”
“…” Everyone quietened down and immediately adopted flattering attitudes. “Your Highness, you must be looking for the general. You came at the right time. The general just said that he will spend a completely unforgettable and extremely romantic night with you later. So, we shan’t get in the way. Have a good chat.”
The crowd dispersed in just a few short moments.
“…” Long Junhao turned towards Gu Chen stiffly. “Hic… Completely unforgettable?”
“…”
Long Junhao’s beautiful eyes blinked. He bit his finger innocently and asked, “… Extremely romantic?”
Gu Chen continued to maintain his silence.
Long Junhao backed off three paces and eyed him warily. “What are you trying to do.”
Gu Chen held his palm up to his forehead. “I should be asking you this question. What exactly have you done these past few days?”
Long Junhao had an innocent expression. “I haven’t done anything.”
“Then how exactly do you explain that?” Gu Chen pointed at something in the distance. Comrade Shu Wen was dripping wet after being fished out of the pond only moments before. He was now picking up a piece of rope and tying a noose on the beams of the pavilion as his entourage frantically stopped him.
Long Junhao glanced at that scene. “That’s just what it is. He is ill.”
“And why did he become ill?”
“Oh, that, huh?” Long Junhao continued, “I wrote him a letter.”
“What letter?”
“A divorce letter.”
“…”
Long Junhao paid no notice to Gu Chen’s silence. He shifted his sights to some of Chu Jian’s attending staff that had just bypassed them. With an innocent look on his face, he then told Gu Chen, “Next, I plan to find Chu Jian and tell him that the legendary herbs that all miracle doctors yearn for day and night lie beyond the walls of this asylum. Say, what do you think he will do?”
Those people who had just walked past froze and slowly turned back towards the two of them.
Gu Chen slowly turned his head away. In the distance, the discarded ‘pregnant’ person was hell-bent on trying to kill himself. Everyone around was trying their best to stop him. “Master, that divorce letter is fake. It’s fake! Your husband was just joking with you!”
Comrade Shu Wen had just stuck his head into the noose. Upon hearing this, he immediately stopped in his tracks. His eyes lit up. “Really?”
“For real, really…” Everyone nodded their heads uniformly. “Master, please come down and change to a new set of clothes. If not, it may be detrimental for your unborn child.”
“Right, right.” Comrade Shu Wen was very receptive to this advice and pulled his head out. He then took off—Not to change his clothes but to find Long Junhao.
The institution staff behind held their breaths when they saw this and chased after hurriedly.
“Hus… husband…” Comrade Shu Wen gasped, gazing at Long Junhao with his crystal-clear eyes. “You… you were joking with me, right?” Dust clouds formed behind him just when he said this as many attendants had come running after. Each of them watched Long Junhao uneasily.
Long Junhao mulled, then glanced at Gu Chen. The attendants of Chu Jian and Shu Wen also turned their sights onto him as well.
Gu Chen was silent; he realized he couldn’t remain unfazed under so many intense and begging gazes. “Alright…” He kneaded his temples. “I’ll tell you whatever you wish to know.”
Long Junhao was satisfied. He wiped his face, then went forward to hold Shu Wen’s hand. He spoke lovingly, “Of course, darling. How could I bear to divorce you? I was just joking to add some fun into our otherwise dull lives.”
“…” Everyone watched as tears silently streamed down their cheeks. Oh god, we were wrong. We shouldn’t have sought help from the prince. Watching the prince perform such an intricate romance plot is even more terrifying than watching Shu Wen convulse. It’s of a totally different level!
Seeing the look in Long Junhao’s eyes, Gu Chen had an unpleasant feeling. He realized that he would rather have this person demolish the whole institution than see him show such tenderness to another man, even if it were just an act.
“Husband…” Shu Wen’s shy voice sounded in the silent courtyard, “I just knew it. My husband wouldn’t abandon our baby and me.”
Long Junhao nodded. He noticed Shu Wen attempting to throw himself at him from the corner of his eye and hurriedly cried out, “Stop, my dear, you can’t have such intense motions now that you are pregnant. Also, why are your clothes so wet? Go and change. It wouldn’t be good if you catch a cold.” All the other people around remained petrified.
“En.” Shu Wen nodded and wiped away the tears that had formed at the corner of his eyes. He sniffled as he went off in the direction of his room but would turn to look back at Long Junhao every few steps.
“…” Gu Chen said, “What’s he dithering for…”
Long Junhao turned over slowly. “Have you been possessed by a jealous ghost?”
“…”
Long Junhao noticed Gu Chen’s look and immediately threw himself over with a fawning smile. “I was just kidding, really. Let’s talk about something else.” The two held hands and headed towards the small pavilion. Young Master Long Junhao demanded a great deal of stuff from his entourage before laying down elegantly on the lounge chair. “Alright, let’s start.”
Gu Chen sat by his side and mulled for a while before finally speaking, “…Are you sure you can understand everything that I’m going to say?” Investigating an issue with a mental patient was still really… Even though this person’s logic was still not too bad, he couldn’t exactly be considered normal, especially the times when he blew up.
Long Junhao felt piqued. “Haven’t I already said that your prince isn’t crazy!”
Gu Chen was still pondering.
Long Junhao became even more incensed and jumped up in front of him. With his hands resting on either armrest, he lowered his head and eyed Gu Chen. “Which part of you is able to tell that I am insane? Especially when compared to those three creatures!”
Gu Chen nodded in approval. “You are indeed better than them.”
Long Junhao proudly tossed his head back and said, “That goes without saying.”
“This can merely mean that your condition isn’t as serious as theirs…”
“…” Veins started bulging on Long Junhao’s forehead. Gu Chen hurriedly added, “But, you are about the same as them during the times you flare up.”
Long Junhao’s anger momentarily dispersed. He inhaled sharply and returned back to his seat. He lowered his head miserably. “You just don’t wish to tell me… You all don’t believe me when I say I’m not sick… Turns out, you are just like my mother and father…”
Gu Chen felt his heart clench. “Haohao…”
Long Junhao continued to lower his head and sniffle. “It’s alright. I’m used to it… Actually, even if you all are lying to me… I am… I am still very happy…”
Gu Chen surrendered. “Stop pretending. I’ll just tell you.”
“Alright.” Long Junhao immediately returned to his original state and beamed.
Gu Chen scrutinized him for a moment and then spoke, “Actually, I felt that, in the beginning, you were insane. However, after much interaction, saying that you are insane…” He thought about it seriously and continued, “How about saying that it is amnesia…”
Long Junhao stared blankly at him before his eyes lit up. “Oh, right. Why didn’t I think of this excuse?”
Gu Chen gazed at his beautiful eyes and knew that Long Junhao was already considering the next plan to persuade his parents during their next visit. He reached out and rubbed Long Junhao’s head. “Alright, don’t you want to know about what happened that day?” Gu Chen chuckled. “Without mentioning anything else, you should have found that Chu Jian’s mother’s reaction was strange on that day, right?”
Long Junhao’s thoughts were brought back to the topic. He nodded. “Did she not know Chu Jian was here all this time? Didn’t she try finding Chu Jian during these past two years?”
Gu Chen sighed. “That’s because she thought that Chu Jian had already died four years ago.”
Long Junhao was startled. “Why?”
“This is confidential.” Gu Chen said. “Furthermore, it’s extremely confidential. Not just anybody is able to probe into this subject.”
Long Junhao slowly digested what was being said. He knew what Gu Chen wished to explain wasn’t the issue with Chu Jian. Thus, he bit his lip and pondered before asking, “So the assassin from that day was no ordinary fellow?”
“Yes.” Gu Chen nodded. “He has a very powerful organization behind him. They were able to obtain this information. And you…” He paused and solemnly stared at Long Junhao. “You were once a member of this organization—and a high ranking member at that.”
“Me?!” Long Junhao gasped. Finally, after a few long seconds, he asked, “Was I originally some sort of powerful being?!”
“…” Gu Chen spoke, “Think properly, they are trying to kill you now. The more powerful they are, the more dangerous it is for you. Furthermore, you weren’t selected just because of your skills.”
“What skills?”
“Computer genius.”
“…” Long Junhao gave a raspy cough. “Never mind then, continue on.” Right now, he could only use a computer’s most basic functions with great difficulty.
Gu Chen explained simply, “You were a very good hacker.”
Long Junhao nodded. “Then why do they want to kill me?”
“Because you had itchy fingers.”
“…”
“Don’t give me that look. It’s true.” Gu Chen shrugged. “You hacked Lei Yan’s personal computer because you were bored and discovered something that you shouldn’t have.”
Long Junhao raised his hand feebly. “Who is Lei Yan?”
“The organization’s leader.”
“…” Long Junhao clutched his chest. “Those were some itchy fingers indeed.”
Gu Chen nodded and continued, “Worse still, you were discovered.”
“…”
“Back then, you pretended to… Uhm, I meant, when you first came to this institution, Lei Yan originally wanted to kill you. However, after you became mentally unstable, he wanted to get you out. The assassin that day wanted to drug you. Only Lei Yan has the antidote and you would have had to find him to get rid of the poison.”
Long Junhao inhaled sharply. “And why is that so?”
Gu Chen rubbed Long Junhao’s head gently. “It’s because you are a rare talent, indeed. He can’t bear to kill you and wants to bring you back to be hypnotized.”
Long Junhao continued breathing deeply. “Having a mental patient undergo hypnosis? Is that feasible?”
“Who knows; Lei Yan can be very crazy sometimes.” Gu Chen sighed. “The top hypnotist in the world, along with the superb medical teams and equipment Lei Yan has at his disposal… Perhaps they could try brainwashing you and restoring your memory.”
“Top hypnotist…” Long Junhao gritted his teeth. “I hope he gets run down by a car when he steps out tomorrow, so he doesn’t hurt others. Oh right, who is he, by the way?”
Gu Chen turned his head over with a look of pittance. “Your former primary doctor, He Tianfan…”
“…” Long Junhao answered feebly, “I hit him twice…”
Gu Chen nodded.
“…Then how?”
“Not a problem.” Gu Chen consoled. “His wounds haven’t healed yet, and he can’t come out for now.”
“…”
