The asylum’s pond filled with lotuses created a very beautiful sight. The impending midsummer heat, along with the chirping of cicadas, made Long Junhao’s dizzy mind even more confused.

“To be honest, I still feel a little confused,” he said weakly. “Why am I being hunted for no reason… Could this be karma?” I might have been hunted in my previous life, but why do I still have to worry about my life when I’m here now? Ah? Why?

Surprised, Gu Chen asked, “What karma?”

“Nothing…” Long Junhao kneaded his forehead. Without any expectations, he asked feebly, “I’m just saying, why do I have to be held accountable for previous wrongs? I’m innocent. Doesn’t this have nothing to do with me?”

Sure enough, Gu Chen patted his head. “You did it, it’s just that you aren’t able to remember it for the time being.”

Long Junhao breathed in deeply and spoke up abruptly, “Actually, you can assume that I have a split personality…”

Gu Chen was stunned and stared at him. Long Junhao met his gaze. Pointing at himself, he enunciated every single syllable, “I. Am. A. Split. Personality. Furthermore, I don’t even have the memory of the previous personality.”

Gu Chen considered it seriously and nodded. “That isn’t entirely impossible.”

“Therefore…” Long Junhao put on a miserable expression. “Why should I be held accountable for the previous personality’s wrongdoings?”

“…” Gu Chen said, “In the end, aren’t you just trying to air your grievances?”

“Of course, am I expected to keep them in?” Long Junhao was very indignant. “I’m going to be killed because of it already!” Having said that, he stood up to leave. Gu Chen hurriedly grabbed his hand. “Where are you going?”

Long Junhao, who seemed to be searching for something, casually replied, “To find my attendants. I’m going to call for food delivery to send over to Lei Yan. Then, I’ll get the beauty to sing ‘Injustice to Dou E’ on my behalf. In a sense, it’s a honey trap but perhaps Lei Yan may forgive me…”

“…” It took Gu Chen a moment to picture the scenario, before opening his mouth to speak, “…I think it’s best to forget that idea. Many people will die if you truly try to do that.”

Long Junhao tilted his head and wanted to ask why when a figure in the distance caught his eye. He raised his hand and pointed. “Why is he here?”

Gu Chen looked towards the direction he was pointing to and saw a familiar figure in the courtyard. It was Luo Yi who happened to be having a cozy chat with some of the doctors and nurses.

“Oh, him,” Gu Chen answered simply. “He’s here because of Chu Jian. You can easily guess that just by seeing the look in his eyes when he gazes at Chu Jian.”

Long Junhao nodded. It was clear that Luo Yi had already gotten rather close with the staff from the harmonious scene in front of him. Long Junhao had spent the last few days thinking of the best way to fish information out of Gu Chen, that he hadn’t noticed Luo Yi’s sudden appearance. “When did he start being here?”

Gu Chen pulled Long Junhao over to his lounge chair before replying, “He’s been coming over whenever he has time ever since the day he found out Chu Jian was here.”

The youthful Mr. Luo Yi, handsome and amicable, would greet whoever he saw. “Hello, I’m Luo Yi. Luo as in Luo Yi, Yi as in Luo Yi. I’ll visit here frequently in the future so please look after me.”

This person hung around Chu Jian and his medical staff all the time. He would try to understand anything that would be good for Chu Jian’s recovery. He grasped medical knowledge proficiently and blended into the role rapidly. The medical staff that had struggled for so long couldn’t help but feel as if they should remove their white coats and put them on Luo Yi. He didn’t stop there. Luo Yi also sneaked into the kitchen and sincerely implored the chef to accept him as a disciple; to teach him how to prepare nourishing meals and to impart all his culinary skills to him.

Luo Yi was also very acquiescent and swore to master the chef’s signature dish that was passed down through several generations:egg fried rice.

Of course, these weren’t all of Luo Yi’s good points. When the A/C in the duty office broke down the previous day, Luo Yi came walking in with a toolbox just as the duty nurses were about to contact a repairman. Luo Yi resolved the problem effortlessly and now there was a phrase going around the nurses at the institution: Marrying Luo Yi would be any girl’s dream~.

It was rumored that Li Xuan had heard of Luo Yi’s heroic feats and wanted to allow him to do more volunteer work. Long Junhao listened silently to this introduction and couldn’t help asking, “Why is it volunteer work?”

Gu Chen replied without even needing to think, “Because there’s no need to pay a volunteer worker wages.”

“…Is the director in need of money?”

“He doesn’t lack money,” Gu Chen went on. “He just loves money. What do you think the objective of him building this asylum was?”

Long Junhao who was being hugged from behind bit his fingers and answered, “…For… Uh, to benefit humanity?”

Gu Chen sighed and rubbed Long Junhao’s head. “You are just too simple. He did it to earn money. Let me pose a question. What is he trying to achieve by not allowing the use of sedatives and depressants here?”

Long Junhao really wanted to say, “Over usage of depressants is harmful, he is trying to protect us.” But he shuddered upon seeing the look in Gu Chen’s eyes. “To… To… To save money…” What a scary director! He wouldn’t let patients take medicine in order to save money! Even if those drugs were sedatives.

Gu Chen nodded in approval. “This child learns quickly.”

Long Junhao exclaimed, “Does that mean I’m a fabled cash cow?!”

“…You could put it that way.”

Long Junhao was about to get up and settle things out with Li Xuan, but Gu Chen locked his arms and held Long Junhao tightly before chuckling. “It’s alright, you wouldn’t be able to change anything even if you go over.”

The mellow chuckle and the moist breath by his ear made Long Junhao’s heart race. This was a familiar feeling he got when he saw the general. Long Junhao stiffened in place.

“How well-behaved.” Gu Chen stroked his head in praise. Noticing that Long Junhao’s ear was flushed, he placed a hand over Long Junhao’s chest and chuckled. “Your heart’s beating very quickly.”

Long Junhao answered feebly, “…This is my normal rate.”

“Oh, is it?” Gu Chen replied casually, then pulled Long Junhao’s head close. “Come, look at me. Who am I?”

Long Junhao continued weakly, “…Gu Chen.”

Gu Chen raised an eyebrow and moved closer. Both their breaths merged as one. Smiling, he gazed at those beautiful eyes and said each word slowly, “Gu… What?”

Naturally, Long Junhao knew what he meant. He breathed in deeply and resigned himself to fate. “Dr. Gu…”

“Oh, Dr. Gu,” Gu Chen playfully recited those words and grinned. “Good, very good…” These words had barely left Gu Chen’s mouth when Long Junhao felt as though his entire body had been flipped. He wanted to cry out in shock, but discovered he wasn’t able to because his mouth had been covered by Gu Chen’s lips.

Gu Chen pressed Long Junhao’s body to the lounge chair during an intimate locking of lips. The tip of his tongue unceremoniously pried open Long Junhao’s teeth and slid inside, gently coming in and brushing against the other’s tongue.

Long Junhao was forced to raise his head. Whatever oxygen he had in his lungs had been stopped at his lips and mouth. He could sense the increasing speed and intensity this person applied to his mouth and each action made his skin numb. In the end, he slowly fell softly into Gu Chen’s embrace, however, his grip on Gu Chen’s arm never loosened.

Gu Chen kissed for a very long time before stopping. There was a heavy look in his originally warm eyes as he met Long Junhao’s gaze. The lips that were plastered together separated slowly. A raspy voice asked, “And now? Who am I?”

Long Junhao gasped for air. His beautiful eyes were now moist as he answered shakily, “Dr. Gu…”

Gu Chen gave him a peck on the lips as a reward and placed his hand on Long Junhao’s chest again. “It’s beating normally now, hmm?”

Long Junhao kept his mouth shut.

Gu Chen smiled and pulled Long Junhao’s hand to his own chest. Long Junhao froze and looked up. Gu Chen chuckled and met his gaze. The two of them were silent for a moment before simultaneously turning their heads towards the side.

The young Luo Yi was squatting beside the lounge chair, giggling as he watched them. He hurriedly waved back when he realized he had been noticed. “You guys continue, don’t worry about me. I just came here to say hi. Really! Hehe.”

Long Junhao: “…”

Gu Chen: “…”

Luo Yi drifted a further two meters away and sat on the railings of the pavilion. He waved once more. “Really, just ignore me. You guys continue, continue…”

Long Junhao gritted his teeth as he noticed the glint in Luo Yi’s eyes. “You have already finished your greetings.” This meant, get lost.

Luo Yi continued giggling. “Yes, but then I saw the good mood between you two and decided to learn a little.”

Long Junhao blushed and was at a loss for words. Gu Chen interjected with a laugh. “Then have you learned enough?”

Luo Yi nodded. “Yes, I did.”

Suddenly, he noticed Miracle Doctor Chu Jian passing close by. He got up at once and shouted loudly, “Physician Chu, come, hurry! I feel so horrible! Aarghh, aarghh!”

This resonant voice reverberated throughout the entire courtyard. Everyone covered their ears and thought to themselves, As if you feel horrible!

Chu Jian was a miracle doctor with a high sense of responsibility. At once, he whizzed over, grabbing Luo Yi’s wrist to take his pulse.

Luo Yi watched him conscientiously. Chu Jian had a delicate and polished appearance. His eyelashes were so long, Luo Yi felt that they could be wings. He couldn’t help but be mesmerized by this enchanting sight.

Chu Jian slowly released his hold and answered calmly, “Don’t worry, Madam, you are just expecting.”

Luo Yi’s expression was unchanging. He nodded his head with the same smile plastered to his face. “It’s all thanks to you.”

With a wave of his sleeve, Miracle Doctor Chu Jian continued, “It’s nothing.” As he turned to leave, Luo Yi suddenly grabbed him. He now had a pained frown. “Doctor, I suddenly feel breathless.”

Chu Jian had never encountered such an illness in all his years as a medical practitioner. He stood stunned in place as Luo Yi continued on, “Doctor, can you perform CPR on me?”

Long Junhao pressed his face into Gu Chen’s chest. “…Despicable, just too despicable.”

Gu Chen nodded his head in agreement. “Indeed.”

Unfortunately, Chu Jian was totally oblivious to the fact he was falling into a trap. He even asked naively, “How do I do that?”

Luo Yi gazed into his eyes and smiled. “Come, come. Let me teach you…” His voice broke off to the sound of lips meeting. Chu Jian was especially innocent and didn’t resist. Luo Yi’s eyes widened. He enclasped Chu Jian’s head and kissed long and deeply. This lasted quite awhile before he released his grasp.

Chu Jian was breathing somewhat unsteadily. Panting, he asked, “Are…are you better now?”

Luo Yi licked his lips. “Much better. You are a miracle doctor indeed, Doctor Chu.”

“Ah, you praise me too much.” Miracle Doctor Chu felt accomplished at completing a monumental task and walked away cheerfully.

Luo Yi watched the leaving figure of Chu Jian and appeared somewhat lost and pensive. He only came to his senses sheepishly when someone tapped his shoulder. He turned and met the gaze of a certain prince. He froze momentarily. “…What’s with that expression?”

Long Junhao smiled then called out to Chu Jian who hadn’t gone far yet. “Chu Jian, come over.”

His voice was loud enough for Chu Jian’s attendants that were nearby to hear. At once, a whole team came galloping after Chu Jian and stared at the prince as though he was a great enemy.

Long Junhao randomly pulled one of them over and said to Chu Jian, “Doctor, this person is feeling unwell.”

Miracle Doctor Chu immediately began his diagnosis. After a few moments, he spoke, “Don’t worry, it’s just a rapid pulse.”

The nurse that was now involved smiled appropriately. “Thank you, doctor.”

“It’s nothing.” Chu Jian eyed her and asked, “Are you feeling breathless?”

Luo Yi went stiff. The nurse continued to cooperate. “Yes, yes.”

“Very well.” Miracle Doctor Chu went closer. “Come, I shall give you CPR.” He went in for the kiss, but Luo Yi caught him and pulled him into a tight embrace as he coaxed, “She’s fine already, she isn’t sick.”

Chu Jian looked at the nurse. The young nurse nodded after overcoming her shock. “I…I…I am fine. I’m not ill.”

“Oh, that’s good.” Miracle Doctor Chu relaxed now. He struggled out of Luo Yi’s hands and once again walked off. Long Junhao peered at the frozen Luo Yi and roared with laughter. “He has learned a new skill that he will definitely use every time he sees a patient. You could stop him once but can you stop him the next time?”

Luo Yi’s face twitched. Long Junhao went over and patted him on the shoulder. “You deserved it. It’s all just retribution.”

Gu Chen: “…”

Long Junhao felt cheery and turned to leave. Smiling, Gu Chen followed after and heard him say, “He seems different from when we first met.” At that time, Luo Yi had an austere aura. There had been absolutely no trace of that harmless and amicable person that was now filling the institution with joy.

Gu Chen naturally knew what he was getting at and replied, “Humans wouldn’t be able to put up a pretense in a helpless situation. What you saw then was his original self. Now, this…is just a facade.”

“Then he is rather scary.” Long Junhao pursed his lips. “What is he up to?”

Gu Chen mused, “When I had passed by previously, I heard him explaining to that bunch that Chu Jian is his senior. Perhaps he is a former subordinate of Chu Jian’s.”

“Eh?” Long Junhao’s interest was piqued. “What did Chu Jian do?”

“He was a cop.” Gu Chen saw Long Junhao’s jaw drop the moment he replied. Chuckling, he lifted Long Junhao’s chin back up. “And he wasn’t just any ordinary cop. He was a S.W.A.T 1special weapons and tactics cop.”

Long Junhao was even more intrigued. “What happened four years ago that his mother thought he had died?”

“Hmmm. He was badly hurt on a mission. The outside world proclaimed he was dead and a funeral was held.”

“What actually happened then?”

“What happened was,” Gu Chen said slowly. “his face was changed and so was his identity. He was given close to a year to recuperate and learn.”

“Then what about the other year?”

“He was a mole.”

Long Junhao fell silent. “And then?”

Gu Chen went over and rubbed his head. “His mission was accomplished very successfully.”

Long Junhao remained in place as he watched Gu Chen walk ahead. Suddenly, he called out, “Gu Chen.”

Gu Chen turned around.

Long Junhao stared at him and said slowly, “You have such impressive skills…You wouldn’t just be an ordinary doctor too, right?”
