Chapter 5

At 6:30am the next day, Han Cheng woke up on time.

Han Cheng always had very good habits and followed a regular schedule. Even if he went to bed late at night, he would definitely get up early, take a shower, eat breakfast, read newspapers, and deal with business issues that were delayed due to the time differences of various countries..

Han Cheng checked the time after washing and prepared to wait half an hour before waking up Xia Tian.

Han Cheng opened the door and went downstairs. After scanning Xia Tian’s room, he unexpectedly found that the door was wide open.

“Where is Xia Tian?” Han Cheng went downstairs, looked around and still didn’t manage to find Xia Tian. He took a sip of tea that was on the table, “Has he gotten up?”

The housekeeper auntie brought the prepared breakfast to the table and nodded with a smile, “He has been up since six o’clock and is currently running outside.”

“Running?” Han Cheng was a little surprised, “He got up earlier than me?”

The auntie nodded, “Yes, he got up half an hour earlier than you. I didn’t think he would come down that early, so I hadn’t prepared his breakfast yet. But he said it was okay and that he would eat when he finished his run.”

Han Cheng didn’t expect that Xia Tian’s schedule was healthier than his. He was quite surprised and said, “If that’s the case, please help him prepare a sports drink every morning.”

The auntie agreed.

Although it was only breakfast, it was Xia Tian’s first meal in this house. Han Cheng didn’t move away from the dining table, but sat and handled business affairs while waiting for Xia Tian to return.

Fortunately, Xia Tian didn’t run far and make Han Cheng wait for long

When Xia Tian came back and saw Han Cheng reading the newspaper while waiting for him, he embarrassedly grabbed the waist of his pants and fidgeted slightly as he said, “You, you don’t have to wait for me.”

Seeing Han Cheng put the newspaper down, Xia Tian didn’t wait for him to speak, and his eyes kept looking at the hearty breakfast that was placed in front of him and said, “Besides, there is so much food. No matter how much you eat, the leftovers will be enough for me.”

Auntie didn’t hold back her smile, while Han Cheng brows raised slightly and said, “I don’t eat much… enough, quickly let’s eat.”

Xia Tian actually wanted to take a shower first, but since Han Cheng had been waiting for him for a long time, it would be bad to continue to make him wait. Just like that, Xia Tian proceeded to sit next to Han Cheng and had breakfast with him.

What Han Cheng said was right. He usually didn’t have a good appetite for breakfast. After having two slices of toast, half an omelette, and a cup of coffee, he would be full. But for Xia Tian, he was an adolescent, plus he exercised in the morning. Thus his appetite was more than three times that of Han Cheng. Xia Tian was used to eating breakfast by himself. Towards the end of the meal, he realised that Han Cheng had already stopped eating. He was a little embarrassed and glanced at Han Cheng.

Han Cheng sensed Xia Tian’s dilemma, and the corners of his mouth were slightly raised as he had another fried egg. He accompanied Xia Tian and leisurely ate the fried egg whites.

Xia Tian noticed Han Cheng’s reserved kindness, and his heart warmed at the sight. He ate with a peace of mind till his stomach was mostly full.

After the meal, Han Cheng sent Xia Tian to school.

Huatian had been established for a century and aimed to provide talents to major universities at home and abroad. Based on the purpose of rigorous academic research, the threshold had always been high. Han Cheng considered the actual situation and said, “At the beginning, it will be difficult to keep up with the progress of the students. You don’t have to be too eager; give yourself a smaller goal, and slowly take your time… Within two years, as long as you are able to be admitted to the university you like, it’s fine.”

Xia Tian thought about his grades and dryly laughed, “Okay…”

Han Cheng had also attended Huatian school. The school’s alumni list still recorded Han Cheng’s splendid results during his school days. Several teachers who taught him had not retired yet, and Han Cheng always respected his teachers. Therefore, after arriving at the school, he met some of his teachers first, and at the same time, introduced Xia Tian to the teachers.

The marriage between Han Cheng and Xia Tian was a secret that everyone knew, but just like living in an ivory tower, the news was blocked and concealed. Only then did several teachers realise that the person Han Cheng had brought was his newly married wife.

Han Cheng patiently accepted the blessings of the teachers and sat as they chatted for a while. Only afterwards did he bring Xia Tian to go through the admission procedures.

Han Cheng calmly signed his name as Xia Tian’s guardian on the registration form and smiled at the person who came to receive them, “My wife has just turned eighteen and is too young. His mother has her own company and is usually very busy. You don’t have to bother her. If there are any issues, just contact me.”

The teacher in charge of registration nodded repeatedly. Han Cheng filled in Liang Qingfeng’s phone number and said to the teacher, “This is my contact information.”

Xia Tian awkwardly whispered in Han Cheng’s ear, “Don’t worry… I will never get into trouble or fight, nor will I confront the teacher.”

Han Cheng smiled, turned his head, and said in a low voice, “I’m not afraid that you will be naughty, just worried that you might fall sick one day, or get injured during physical education… If this is the case, you or the teacher could contact me, and I will pick you up…”

Han Cheng was ten centimetres taller than Xia Tian. When he turned his head to talk to Xia Tian, Han Cheng’s breath just swept over his ears, making his auricle redden. He nodded, “Okay… I, I will definitely avoid this from happening.”

Han Cheng smiled with satisfaction, his eyes unconsciously holding a momentary look of fondness. Xia Tian coughed, he was a little embarrassed by a few young teachers who were looking at them. He looked at the time and said, “Didn’t you just answer a phone call and said that you’ll be heading back? Go ahead… I’ll be fine here.”

Han Cheng raised his hand and looked at his watch and was a little surprised. Before he knew it, he had been delayed for almost an hour. He nodded, “I’ll let Liang Qingfeng pick you up when school is over. Don’t get in anyone’s car except his. I may not be returning home in the afternoon, you…”

Several teachers were watching their interaction. What Han Cheng said made Xia Tian’s cheeks blush madly, and he spoke up, “I’m an adult… I’m able to head back on my own…”

“I’m in a hurry. If you have anything to tell me, tell me later at night.” Han Cheng interrupted him. As soon as those words were spoken, Han Cheng realised that using the tone of a boss talking to his subordinates might embarrass Xia Tian in front of his teachers. After thinking about it, He gently rubbed Xia Tian’s head and said, “Listen to the teachers. I will be leaving first.”

Xia Tian was bothered about what Han Cheng said just now, and promised, “I will be fine and won’t bother you.”

Confident words said too soon, it was easy to predict a face slapping just around the corner.

Three days later, Xia Tian sat in his room with the entrance assessment report card in his hand and sighed heavily.

In the autumn entrance examination assessment, there were 22 people in a class with an average total score of 563. Xia Tian’s total was… 247.

Xia Tian looked at his report card with a miserable look. He didn’t think he would do that badly and angrily reflected, “Just one person! Causing the entire class ranking to be reduced by ten points! You, you… you can’t get more questions correct?!”

As today was the day the report card came out, none of the teachers or students expressed any dissatisfaction with Xia Tian’s results. Of course, no one else needed to do that as Xia Tian was dying with self-blame.

The previous school that Xia Tian attended was a public middle school. The students in the school were from different backgrounds and Xia Tian’s school results were not very conspicuous. Occasionally, he was able to get a better grade. However, this time Xia Tian was a little more self-aware. He knew that after transferring to Huatian, he would be at the bottom category, but he didn’t expect it to be such a unique situation.

The second to last person in the class scored more than two hundred points higher than him.

The sudden emergence of him alone made the average grade of his class in the school’s class ranking system drop. It was bad enough to even make the principal think that someone in his class skipped the exam.

Xia Tian covered his face in shame… Could it be more embarrassing?

Of course. Since this was the first test of this semester, the results needed to be signed by a guardian.

Xia Tian did not dare to approach Han Cheng to sign his report card.

Although he was being treated well by Han Cheng, he was still somewhat afraid of him.

Not to mention approaching him for such a shameful thing.

Xia Tian sat down and again stood up, walked round the bed a few times, opened the door and looked at the study room for a while.

It was already nine o’clock in the evening. Han Cheng, Liang Qingfeng, and an executive of their company had been discussing business for more than two hours in the study room. Xia Tian hesitated and pondered the possibility of letting Liang Qingfeng sign on Han Cheng’s behalf… Liang Qingfeng had been with Han Cheng for so long. Thus, he must be familiar with Han Cheng’s handwriting. In addition, the mobile phone number that Han Cheng left at that time was Liang Qingfeng’s. Even if someone at the school was able to miraculously see through it, after making a call, it would still be Qingfeng who answered the phone. Surely, he wouldn’t be exposed.

The more he thought about it, the more he thought his plan would succeed. Xia Tian turned back and headed to his room, carefully checked the report card, and quietly put it away.

It had been almost a week since Xia Tian had moved in, and he had a little understanding of Han Cheng’s habits. When this kind of private meeting was held at home, Han Cheng wouldn’t head downstairs after the meeting ended but would sit in the study for a while.

After a while, Liang Qingfeng headed downstairs. Everything would be fine as long as he intercepted Liang Qingfeng before he left.

Xia Tian inexplicably felt a little flustered as he went downstairs with light steps and sat in the living room waiting for Liang Qingfeng.

After nearly half an hour, as expected, Liang Qingfeng and the executive of Hancheng Company went downstairs, while the door of the study room on the second floor was still tightly closed.

The two were not surprised to see Xia Tian here. The executive greeted him politely. Xia Tian looked at Liang Qingfeng and spoke a little bit awkwardly, “Big Brother Liang… I have something I would like to tell you.”

The executive laughed and said, “I’m wanted at home. I will leave first.”

After he left, Liang Qingfeng looked at Xia Tian inquiringly. Xia Tian hesitantly took out his report card and said in embarrassment, “Could you… help me sign it using Uncle Han’s signature?”

Upon hearing Xia Tian’s request, Liang Qingfeng’s face stiffened, but he quickly resumed his usual professionalism and calmness and smiled. He hesitated a little but still signed for Xia Tian.

Xia Tian’s heart fell to the ground, and he lowered his voice and thanked him profusely. Liang Qingfeng nodded a little, turned, and walked away.

Xia Tian took a long breath, folded the report card carefully, and went upstairs in a light-hearted mood.

Back in the room, Xia Tian opened his report card and checked. The more he looked, the more he felt like the teachers would not be able to tell that the signature was forged.

But this was not a long-term plan. Xia Tian ahh… you have to start studying seriously… you can’t keep holding others back.

It was just half-past nine, and it was too early to go to bed. Xia Tian wanted to read a book, and when he got up, his mobile phone beeped, prompting a text message.

Xia Tian picked up the phone and frowned… It was sent by Han Cheng.

Why did Han Cheng text him?

Xia Tian unlocked the screensaver and saw that it was Han Cheng who sent him a screenshot with a text message from Liang Qingfeng.

【Mr. Han, Young Master just asked me to sign your name on his transcript with a total score of 247. I wanted to let you know.】

“Aaahhhhh…”

Xia Tian became so crazily petrified that he almost threw the phone away!

The phone sounded again, signalling an incoming text message from Han Cheng. Xia Tian swallowed his saliva nervously, and with a trembling finger, he clicked on it with fear…

【Come to the study room now.】
