Chapter 19

After dinner, Xia Tian’s mind was full of Han Cheng.

Han Cheng mistakenly thought that Xia Tian spent a day in the office and was bored. After dinner, he asked, “Shall I change the car and take you out for a drive?”

“No, no.” Xia Tian shook his head hurriedly. “I forgot to bring my physics textbook today and I need to review it. Since we are heading home now, I can study.”

Han Cheng smiled. “So studious? That’s good.”

After returning, Xia Tian used the excuse of being tired and wanted to lie in bed to read to decline Han Cheng’s suggestion of tutoring him. So instead of going to the study room, he returned to his room early. Han Cheng was a little surprised and wanted to call Xia Tian over to ask, but a phone call came in and he went to deal with his affairs. Subsequently, he forgot all about it.

In his room, Xia Tian sat in front of a small writing desk, staring into blank space.

He was trying to remember which exact moment made him fall for Han Cheng.

Although he had met Han Cheng when he was five or six years old, the only time he’d really interacted with him were these two months of their marriage.

Xia Tian was a bit surprised when he thought about it. Was it possible to like someone in just two months?

He adored him so much.

Xia Tian didn’t doubt his feelings for Han Cheng. Although he’d never been tempted by anyone before nor had he been in contact with Han Cheng for a long time and didn’t know much about him, he was very sure he truly liked Han Cheng.

This kind of liking had been growing in his heart for a long time. Today, it was triggered by several events and suddenly broke out. The burning of his internal organs were about to explode. Just now, Xia Tian almost confessed.

Only god knew how much he’d endured.

Xia Tian was not afraid of confessing, nor was he shy. He was worried that Han Cheng would immediately terminate the marriage contract if he confessed.

Although Han Cheng had said several times that if the marriage contract was terminated in the future, he would still be responsible for Xia Tian and would try his best to take care of him. However, Xia Tian was not yearning for those promises. He could feel that Han Cheng had plans for the relationship between them in the next few years, even decades. Terminating the marriage contract early was just to advance the process.

Xia Tian sighed anxiously… Instead of being silently taken care of by Han Cheng after the divorce, it was better to stay here.

If he were to stay here, maybe someday Han Cheng could come to like him too?

If he really came to like him, then there was no need for a divorce.

Xia Tian’s face turned white and red. He lay flat on the bed and thought for a while. He wanted to call Liang Qingfeng… but he was afraid that he would inform Han Cheng.

Xia Tian tossed about in bed for a long time. When it was almost ten o’clock, he finally couldn’t help himself and dialed Liang Qingfeng’s mobile phone.

“Young Master Xia?”

Liang Qingfeng was like a robot that was on standby for 24 hours. Whenever one called him, he would always be in contact.

Xia Tian was embarrassed and asked, “Am I interrupting your rest?”

Liang Qingfeng replied, “No, what’s the matter?”

Xia Tian thought for a while and hesitated, “I want to ask you something, but… don’t tell Uncle Han, okay?”

Without waiting for him to speak, Xia Tian quickly blurted out, “I promise that it has nothing to do with official business! It also has nothing to do with my grades!”

Liang Qingfeng was stunned. Han Cheng had told him before that the fake signature was not exposed.

He was professional, methodical and never panicked. It was rare to be nervous.

Xia Tian seized the opportunity to make a request and continued pitifully, “Why did you tell Uncle Han about the fake signature last time?!”

Liang Qingfeng’s tone was slightly awkward as he replied, “That…”

Xia Tian paused and continued, “I got a beating because of it!”

Liang Qingfeng, who had a steel heart after training under Han Cheng for many years, blamed himself for the first time.

Xia Tian pursued after his success and continued, “This time, you don’t have to promise to reveal anything to me but please don’t tell Han Cheng what I asked you, okay?”

Liang Qingfeng hesitated for a while and replied, “Okay. What is the issue?”

Xia Tian covered the microphone. He laughed awkwardly and it was not easy for Liang Qingfeng to promise him. He seized the opportunity and asked, “I want to ask, Uncle Han’s previous companions, um…what are they like? Which type does he usually go for?”

Xia Tian waited nervously for Liang Qingfeng’s answer, wondering if he would be the type that Han Cheng liked.

Liang Qingfeng thought about it, and said, “It’s not fixed. At least in my eyes, there were all kinds.”

Xia Tian was a little disappointed. “Is that so…”

“But there are still some things in common.” Liang Qingfeng’s countless pieces of information were being filtered and consolidated. He analysed and said, “They were not the kind who would treat feelings in an exclusive manner. Basically they were able to part without any hard feelings. When they were together, neither party would cross the line and they could still be friends even after they separated.

Noticing that Xia Tian stopped talking, Liang Qingfeng continued, “Do you have anything else to ask?”

“No, nothing more.” Xia Tian muttered to himself, “It’s good that there’s no fixed type…”

Liang Qingfeng didn’t hear clearly. “Huh?”

“It’s okay.” Xia Tian said gratefully, “I’m sorry, I called you at such a late time… It’s not within your working hours. I’m sorry to disturb you.”

“No need to apologise.” Liang Qingfeng said, “Mr. Han mentioned that anything regarding you, I don’t have any so-called working hours. You will be able to contact me anytime and anywhere… lest there be any accidents.”

Xia Tian was startled and his heart warmed. “I still have to apologise. Anyway… Thanks for your hard work. Good night.”

“Good night.”

Although he didn’t get any useful information, he wasn’t frustrated. Han Cheng was now single (?) and could be pursued.

Xia Tian was willing to try.

Xia Tian embraced the worries of young Werther and his troubles1Saying that his troubles were just like young Werther’s. Based on the book of The sorrows of young Werther https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Werther including the unconstrained pursuit of ideas. After thinking hard for a long time, he was exhausted and fell asleep on the bed.

Xia Tian didn’t cover himself with the quilt all night and when he woke up the next day, his nose was congested and his head was heavy. Even his speech was sloppy.

At the breakfast table, Han Cheng frowned, looked at Xia Tian and asked, “The voice changing period?”

“My voice has changed back in elementary school…” Xia Tian explained dumbfoundedly, “I’ve just caught a cold.”

Han Cheng laughed at himself as he said, “I read some self-improvement books recently and I got confused… Have you taken your temperature?”

“It’s okay, I shouldn’t have a fever.” Xia Tian touched his forehead and smiled at Han Cheng, “I’ll take some cold medicine later and will be fine tomorrow.”

Han Cheng raised his wrist to check the time and replied, “Hurry and eat. Let’s go early. Head to the hospital first and then go to school.”

Xia Tian laughed and refused his suggestion. “No, it’s just a small cold…”

Han Cheng ignored Xia Tian’s small protest and said, “I’ll go to the company to deal with the problems that were not resolved yesterday, so I won’t be sending you to school… It just so happens that Liang Qingfeng will come over in a while. I’ll let him take you to the hospital.”

“No, no, no…” Xia Tian woke up early and regretted it. Yesterday, he shouldn’t have acted on impulse and called Liang Qingfeng.

Although Liang Qingfeng promised not to tell Han Cheng about this matter, he was not stupid. If he thought deeply about it, he might have guessed something was up.

Xia Tian was now embarrassed to see Liang Qingfeng.

“I’m not discussing it with you.” Han Cheng puzzled, “What’s wrong? Aren’t you not afraid of him anymore? Okay, I will send you then.”

“Don’t.” Xia Tian was helpless. He didn’t dare to delay Han Cheng’s affairs, so he had to say, “I’m not afraid… Okay, let him send me off.”

Not long after, Liang Qingfeng came.

Xia Tian buried his head in the bowl and bowed his head to pick up the rice, afraid to look at him.

Han Cheng looked at Xia Tian suspiciously and said to Liang Qingfeng, “You don’t have to go with me. You can send him to the hospital first and see what’s wrong. If there’s no problem, send him to school or back home. Go to the office once you’re done.”

Han Cheng keenly felt that the atmosphere between the two was strange and he looked at Liang Qingfeng thoughtfully.

Xia Tian quickly finished his food and hurriedly said, “I’m going to get my schoolbag.” After that, he went upstairs.

Han Cheng picked up the napkin, wiped his fingertips lightly and ordered, “Say it.”

Han Cheng didn’t need to speak much and Liang Qingfeng knew what he wanted to hear. But thinking of his promise last night, he hesitated.

Han Cheng sneered, “Are you also in a rebellious period?”

Only loyal to Han Cheng, Liang Qingfeng’s slight sense of guilt was swept away by his reprimand. He took a step forward and without any pressure, repeated last night’s conversation word for word.
