Wei Tingxiao hadn’t even thought about why Yan Shu had come to see him. He was just so delighted to see him.

He didn’t want to think about anything else and just hoped to quickly bring the person into his own territory.

Now it was his private space, and he could comfortably enjoy the time alone with the two of them.

Seeing Yan Shu standing there hesitantly, Wei Tingxiao quickly cleared a spot and patted the bed, “Just sit, it’s okay.”

Not everyone liked others sitting directly on their sleeping bed, and Wei Tingxiao actually didn’t like it either, but in front of Yan Shu, he didn’t mind at all.

Even though the young man had returned to the countryside, he still gave Wei Tingxiao an extremely clean and pure feeling.

Under Wei Tingxiao’s hopeful gaze, Yan Shu sat down on the edge of the bed, feeling a bit embarrassed.

After sitting down, he expressed his intentions directly, “I heard you were injured. This is a medicinal ointment passed down from my grandmother. It was just made today. It can treat bruises, promote blood circulation, and reduce swelling. Give it a try.”

Wei Tingxiao was very surprised to hear Yan Shu’s words, “Where did you hear that I was injured?”

Only the crew knew about his injury, and he hadn’t even met with Boss Zhou and the others when he came back. Yan Shu’s family shouldn’t be aware of his injury, let alone mention it to Yan Shu.

Yan Shu couldn’t possibly have the WeChat contacts of the crew members, so how did he know?

No one leaked the information, so could it be… that the other person was following him?

“You went to the set today.” Wei Tingxiao’s statement was a fact. He stared into Yan Shu’s eyes; the boy couldn’t hide anything from him.

Almost certain of the answer, he continued, “You saw me injured, then went back and made the ointment?”

Yan Shu lowered his head, unable to speak, his cheeks flushing red as he nodded timidly.

Suddenly, everything became clear to Wei Tingxiao.

So this was the reason Yan Shu couldn’t live-stream today? He had taken leave, saying there was something important.

Was the important thing… related to him?

“Thank you for bringing me the ointment. Your family’s traditional recipe must be especially effective, and since you made it yourself, the effects are surely multiplied,” Wei Tingxiao began praising before even trying it.

Yan Shu looked flustered and corrected him, “It wasn’t just me, it was my grandmother and me… she taught me bit by bit.”

Wei Tingxiao nodded in agreement, “That’s still great. This medicine is unique, and I’m really lucky to have it.”

No matter what Yan Shu said, Wei Tingxiao just gave the other person emotional value.

Though being injured should be a painful experience, when Wei Tingxiao mentioned it, it turned into an incredibly happy event.

When Yan Shu came, he was a bit nervous, worrying that Wei Tingxiao, a big star, might look down on rural herbal medicine. He even thought about what to do if he got rejected, how to avoid an awkward situation.

But in reality, Wei Tingxiao didn’t give him a chance to feel awkward at all. His eyes were full of affection for the ointment Yan Shu had brought.

It was as if he truly considered this gift as an extraordinary present…

The joy in Yan Shu’s heart quietly climbed up. He didn’t display it on his face, but compared to when he first entered, his whole body had relaxed significantly.

Wei Tingxiao had this ability to unknowingly make people who talked to him relax, even involuntarily open up their hearts.

“I didn’t know where you were filming. This morning, when my grandmother and I were gathering herbs in the mountains, we happened to see you. We didn’t dare to disturb you and just watched from afar,” Yan Shu slowly opened up.

“What a coincidence. You happened to witness the whole process of me getting injured. I suddenly felt a bit embarrassed. If I had known, I would’ve filmed more seriously and performed better. That scene was too embarrassing,” Wei Tingxiao chuckled and rubbed the back of his head, showing no signs of embarrassment. It was clear he was just casually speaking.

But Yan Shu took his words seriously, shaking his head, “I thought it was cool and handsome. You did great, both my grandmother and I were impressed.”

Wei Tingxiao often received compliments from crew members on set and fans online. He was used to it and didn’t let the praise make him proud or conceited. He was meticulous about his work and always aimed to do better each time.

But when Yan Shu praised him as “cool and handsome” today, his head felt a bit dizzy, and he felt warm and fuzzy all over. It was really comfortable…

When feeling proud, it’s easy to push the boundaries. Sensing that Yan Shu intended to leave after putting down the medicine, Wei, the big movie emperor, started acting.

“Yan Shu, can you help me apply the ointment? After applying it, it still needs to be wrapped in gauze. It’s a bit inconvenient for me with just one hand,” Wei Tingxiao rolled up his sleeve, showing Yan Shu the injured area. He put on a pitiful look, completely ignoring the fact that his assistant could have helped with this.

With a strong sense of purpose, he used his words to “pressure” a naive and innocent young man.

Yan “naive and innocent” Shu: “Ah? Okay, I’ll help you.”

Yan Shu agreed almost without any hesitation, which was completely within Wei Tingxiao’s expectations.

A boy who saw him injured on set, who was willing to put aside his own live-streaming work just to make and deliver medicine for him, how could he have the heart to leave at a time like this?

He had always known this boy was soft-hearted, but this was just too easy to manipulate.

Wei Tingxiao turned his head slightly, feeling a bit guilty, and couldn’t look straight into Yan Shu’s pure eyes.

What kind of innocent little bunny was Yan Shu?

If he had continued in the entertainment industry, he would have been chewed up long ago. Fortunately… Yan Shu had left that murky place, and this current lifestyle suited him best.

Before Yan Shu left, his grandmother had told him the method of applying the medicine. It indeed required applying it and then wrapping it with thin gauze, leaving it on for eight hours before changing it.

According to his grandmother, if Wei Tingxiao kept the medicine on overnight, he wouldn’t feel much pain, and if he continued applying it for two to three days, he would recover directly.

Wei Tingxiao quietly watched as Yan Shu slowly opened the lid of the small porcelain jar, revealing the dark and sticky ointment inside, the herbal scent instantly filling the air.

“It might not smell good, you’ll have to bear with it,” Yan Shu, unsure if Wei Tingxiao could handle the smell, reminded him.

“Back then, while acting, I even crawled through stinky gutters. This smell is much better than that; it’s just the smell of Chinese herbs. I actually find it quite pleasant,” Wei Tingxiao deliberately sniffed.

Amused by his antics, Yan Shu smiled and didn’t say more. He picked up a flat bamboo stick, scooped a bit of ointment, and started applying it to Wei Tingxiao’s injury.

His movements were gentle, afraid of causing any pain to the other person.

Wei Tingxiao felt a slight itch as the ointment touched his skin. Yan Shu wasn’t just applying medicine; it felt more like he was applying a mud mask.

The boy’s hands were steady, ensuring the ointment was evenly spread each time, layer by layer. Once it reached a certain point, he finally set down the jar.

Taking a small piece of gauze, he gently wrapped it around the area where the ointment was applied.

Wei Tingxiao found the process of Yan Shu applying the medicine both enjoyable and agonising. He wanted to prolong the time, yet also hoped it would end quickly.

This conflicting mentality was driving Wei Tingxiao crazy.

Surprisingly, the moment the ointment was applied, the swollen area of the sprain immediately felt cool, and a part of the pain was instantly relieved.

“Your family’s remedy is truly amazing! It’s really effective,” Wei Tingxiao exclaimed.

Yan Shu was a bit sceptical, “Really?”

Accustomed to Wei Tingxiao’s exaggerated compliments, Yan Shu was unsure if he was just trying to please him or speaking sincerely.

“Really! It’s really miraculous!” Wei Tingxiao nodded repeatedly.

Feeling a bit embarrassed to continue having Yan Shu stay and help apply the ointment, he said, “I’ll apply the rest of the medicine myself. I also have injuries on my legs, but I can handle this one, so I won’t trouble you.”

Yan Shu was momentarily stunned, seemingly surprised that Wei Tingxiao had injuries on other parts of his body.

After a moment of contemplation, Yan Shu said, “In that case, this jar won’t be enough, you’ll need to apply the medicine for a few more days… How about this, I’ll bring you more tomorrow.”

Yan Shu was a helpful person, and since he had already brought the medicine, he wanted to ensure that all of Wei Tingxiao’s injuries received treatment.

Wei Tingxiao, about to politely say, “Don’t worry about it,” unexpectedly changed his response mid-sentence and said, “Great, thank you so much. Please thank your grandmother for me.”

“No problem, it’s nothing,” Yan Shu replied nonchalantly as he stood up.

In his heart, Wei Tingxiao thought: He had taken leave from his livestream account, saying it was for something important, but this little guy was saying one thing and thinking another.

Of course, he would never say this out loud and just enjoyed the thought silently in his heart.

Being cared for by such a cute younger brother felt really nice.

Wei Tingxiao had completely forgotten about the cousin he had back home.

His annoying ‘younger brother’ at home just couldn’t compare to the care he received from the outside.

“I’ll head off now, Wei…” Yan Shu started to address him and quickly corrected himself, “…Tingxiao-ge. See you tomorrow, rest well.”

Wei Tingxiao felt that the injury he had suffered today was truly worth it, suddenly feeling content.

He walked Yan Shu to the door, but Yan Shu stopped him from going further, “No need to see me off. You still have an injury on your leg, go back and rest.”

Wei Tingxiao watched Yan Shu’s departing figure with a strong sense of reluctance in his heart.

Peeking out from the adjacent room, Xiao Lin shook his head silently.

Oh no, oh no… His brother had truly fallen…

Xiao Lin might not have experienced romance, but he had seen enough idol dramas to know the signs.

The male lead, gazing longingly at the female lead’s silhouette, his emotions unable to settle, must be accompanied by a romantic, lyrical background score at this moment.

A close-up shot directly into the past showing the male lead’s affectionate expression, focusing on his eyes, where the reflection in his pupils was that of the person he loved.

“Tsk tsk…” Xiao Lin actually had a vague inkling about Wei Tingxiao’s sexual orientation, but it was only after Yan Shu appeared that this uncertain speculation was solidly confirmed.

Especially after encountering Yan Shu on the mountain, Wei Tingxiao had been acting strangely since that day he returned.

While outsiders might not notice anything amiss, as Wei Tingxiao’s personal assistant, Xiao Lin, was just too sensitive to pick up on it. There was a shift in some aspect of his brother’s demeanour.

Once stiff and proper, now bent like a mosquito coil.

Even after Yan Shu had left completely, Wei Tingxiao still hadn’t returned to his bed.

Seeing his family’s brother looking troubled, Xiao Lin couldn’t help but ask, “What’s wrong again, Xiao-ge? If you’re going to disregard your injuries and chase after him, I don’t have an issue with it.”

Wei Tingxiao slapped his forehead hard, “How could I forget to get his WeChat again! Ugh!”

“Sorry to bother you, ge. Goodnight, Makka Pakka1apparently this cartoon character got famous in the chinese internet during 2023. So now people would say goodnight makka pakka as a way of saying good night in a cute and teasing way,” Xiao Lin retracted his half-protruded head back into the room and closed the door.
