Chapter 12 – That name sounds nice

Translator: ChuRen/ YuQiChen

After peeking at the screen for a long time, Wei Tingxiao finally learned the name of that idol.

Searching for this name, the profile with the person’s own photo popped up.

Wei Tingxiao: “??”

Isn’t this the young actor he met on the set next door the other day?

The same guy who had his mouth all red from eating spicy noodles.

【SAP – Yan Shu】

Hmm, quite a nice name…

He hadn’t asked the director for his name on set before, but now finding out this way, Wei Tingxiao found it quite magical.

Could it be that the guy had actually recognized him at the spicy noodle shop before, and his pretending not to know was all an act?

But it didn’t seem likely. He knew the guy’s acting skills weren’t that great; he had figured that out from watching the guy’s scenes on the neighbouring set.

A definite newcomer in the entertainment circle.

So, what did it mean for him to come to his super topic and like those posts praising him?

Apart from showing that he was his fans and admired him greatly, Wei Tingxiao couldn’t think of any other reason.

As a renowned actor in the industry, Wei Tingxiao was used to admiration; many new actors idolized and respected him. He wasn’t too concerned about how others viewed him.

This kid was one of the few he had remembered recently.

He still recalled how, at the spicy noodle shop, the guy had accidentally bumped into him on his way out.

When they returned, his manager found an oily lip mark on the back of his clothes and bombarded him with questions until he explained it was an accidental collision.

Thinking back to that day when Yan Shu, clearly not good with spicy food, stubbornly insisted on eating it, Wei Tingxiao couldn’t help but smile.

The slightly swollen red lips from the spiciness were still fresh in his memory.

Wei Tingxiao, with great interest, clicked into Yan Shu’s Weibo account, where most posts were official promotions, either for his group’s new songs and music videos or reposting business-related content.

Since the SAP boy group had only debuted a year ago, Wei quickly scrolled to the bottom of Yan Shu’s Weibo.

The content on Weibo was heavily managed by the agency, with very few personal life updates. Occasionally, there were some photos shared, but it was clear they were staged as per the company’s requirements.

The comment sections under each Weibo post were truly unbearable, akin to a camp for trolls.

If Wei Tingxiao hadn’t met Yan Shu in person twice already, he might have thought this idol had desecrated the ancestral tombs of these haters with the way they were cursing.

What kind of grudge led to such filthy language?

Comments like these, neither addressed by the company’s PR nor moderated, were left there for anyone to come in and spit venom?

Having been in this industry for many years, Wei Tingxiao quickly understood the reasons behind it.

Longfeng Entertainment was using this kid as cannon fodder, following the path of black publicity.

Exposing oneself in this manner could seriously damage a celebrity’s career path.

No one would remember Yan Shu’s efforts in his work, no one could appreciate his hardships; people only knew him because of his bad reputation.

Ironically, this so-called “bad reputation” was very likely fabricated.

Although this publicity garnered attention, would the end result truly be what Yan Shu wanted?

Wei Tingxiao could easily understand that it was just the artist having no say and being forced to comply with the company’s arrangements.

Wait a minute! So… giving likes to his super topic was also forced?

Intentionally provoking the displeasure of his fans would once again tarnish Yan Shu’s reputation.

When did Longfeng Entertainment become so disgusting?

Although Wei Tingxiao was not an artist under Longfeng, he knew many actors and senior executives in the company. He remembered that the old Longfeng didn’t indulge in such antics.

“Ge, we’ve arrived. It’s raining outside. I’ll go down first to grab an umbrella. Be careful of your wound when you get off.”

Xiao Lin had been silent for the latter part of the journey, observing Wei Tingxiao’s expressions.

At first, Xiao-ge seemed quite indifferent, but later, upon finding something interesting on his phone, his lips curved into a smile that never seemed to fade.

Then, at a certain moment towards the end, his smile vanished instantly, his brows furrowed deeply.

Xiao Lin didn’t think there could be anything on the internet that would cause such a drastic change in Xiao-ge’s mood. He could only deduce that Xiao-ge’s injury was causing significant pain, unbearable but unwilling to show any weakness in front of others, deliberately keeping quiet.

Xiao Lin also felt uneasy. Xiao-ge was paying him such a high salary, something he had struggled to earn for many years, and now he was responsible for managing Xiao-ge’s daily life and ensuring his safety. He felt like he had failed to take care of Xiao-ge properly.

Supporting Wei Tingxiao as he got out of the car, Xiao Lin kept the umbrella tilted towards him, afraid of getting him wet.

Facing such a “motherly” Xiao Lin, Wei Tingxiao smiled helplessly, lifted his functioning right hand, and adjusted the umbrella.

“Just a few steps, with such light rain, do you think I’m made of paper? Will I collapse if I get wet?” Wei Tingxiao patted his assistant’s shoulder. “Alright, alright, we’re here. You can put the umbrella away.”

Muttering to himself, Xiao Lin put away the umbrella, while Wei Tingxiao headed straight to his usual spot.

The emergency room number had been pre-booked. This place was familiar to him, and every time he had an injury, he would go to the same room.

Upon opening the door, the young man in a white coat, Shen Hezhi, had already prepared the medical tools.

Hearing the sound, Shen Hezhi, who was initially facing away from the door, glanced back. “You’re here pretty quickly this time. Want to lie down or sit for the stitching? Your call.”

“Long time no see, Dr. Shen.” Wei Tingxiao didn’t even spare a glance at the surgical bed, choosing to sit on a chair directly. “If you don’t hurry up, my little assistant will start crying.”

Xiao Lin, who had just returned to the car to fetch a hot water bottle, hurried into the room. The first thing he heard was this.

Xiao Lin: “…”

“Ge, I didn’t do anything,” he actually tried to defend himself in a low voice.

Shen Hezhi took the hydrogen peroxide, unwrapped the blood-soaked gauze from Wei Tingxiao’s arm layer by layer, and began cleaning the wound.

“If you’re reckless, that’s your business, but stop messing with others. And what’s with the serious act? We met just last Friday; don’t make it seem like we haven’t seen each other in years,” Shen Hezhi scolded while stitching up the wound.

Wei Tingxiao winced slightly in pain but continued to smile broadly. “Old Shen, you’re as unhumorous as ever.”

Shen Hezhi blocked someone’s words, skillfully starting to stitch up the wound.

Seeing Wei Tingxiao’s expression finally showing some discomfort, Shen Hezhi chuckled abruptly, “Good assistant, bad movie star, let’s treat him with a needle.”

Blushing with embarrassment, Xiao Lin retreated outside the examination room.

Wei Tingxiao could endure pain quite well, so Shen Hezhi didn’t have to worry too much. The process of stitching up the wound would soon be over.

Before coming this time, Wei Tingxiao had already briefed Shen Hezhi on his injury situation.

The two had been close friends since high school, and over the years, their understanding and cooperation had been well-established as they pursued their respective careers and dreams.

Due to the busy schedules of both of them, their meetings weren’t frequent.

However, Wei Tingxiao often got injured while filming, so visiting the hospital had become a routine.

“If your fans see you all bruised up, they’d be so heartbroken. Take it easy; I don’t want to see you here every week,” Shen Hezhi mercilessly teased.

“The filming is almost done. Endure a bit longer. After it’s over, I’ll rest for a while. You won’t see me in the hospital after that,” Wei Tingxiao joked nonchalantly.

Shen Hezhi returned to his seat, typed on the computer, and after a few clicks and lines of text, the nearby printer spat out a medical treatment form and a prescription.

“Just in case, get an IV drip. Go to the nurse’s station on the first floor for assistance,” Shen Hezhi handed the forms to Wei Tingxiao and began packing up.

“What about you?”

“What about me? I’m off work. You expect me to stay and watch you get an IV?” Shen Hezhi hung up his white coat and nudged Wei Tingxiao, “Move along, move along. If it weren’t for stitching you up, I would’ve been home by now. A day of surgeries is exhausting, you know?”

Wei Tingxiao understood Shen Hezhi’s hardship. After exchanging a couple of jokes, he bid farewell.

The hospital had excellent privacy and top-notch facilities. The services were specifically aimed at public figures like artists and those with deep pockets.

Due to the expensive medical fees, the general public rarely chose this kind of secluded and not-so-cost-effective private hospital, unsure of its reliability.

While other hospitals were overcrowded, Jinhe Hospital was relatively quiet. Moreover, considering the late hour, there were very few people in the emergency room.

After getting the medication, Wei Tingxiao went to the injection room to receive the anti-inflammatory shot.

He wasn’t afraid of getting stitches, much less getting an IV drip; it didn’t even make him furrow his brows.

“Alright, you can rest in the VIP room now.”

The nurse who administered the drip had been working at the hospital for over ten years, well-acquainted with Wei Tingxiao.

Stars of Wei Tingxiao’s calibre valued privacy and often opted for private rooms. However, the infusion room was empty today…

“Forget it, no need to bother. I’ll wait in the rest area until the medication is done.”

Wei Tingxiao wasn’t being dramatic; he considered today’s injury minor. Carrying the medication bottle, he strode confidently towards the rest area.

Hastily catching up, the young assistant following behind urged, “Xiao-ge, let me hold the medication bottle for you. Your hand is still injured, take it slow!”

Wei Tingxiao had already settled in his seat, and he hung the medication bottle on the hook above, giving it a gentle shake.

“Xiao-ge, have some hot water.” Xiao Lin sat down beside Wei Tingxiao, offering the thermos he had brought from the car.

This time, Wei Tingxiao finally didn’t refuse. He took a few sips of water, allowing Xiao Lin a moment to rest his eyes. He had been assisting the team all day, working tirelessly; even a man made of iron would feel tired.

Wei Tingxiao himself was still energetic, possibly at the peak of his career and physical fitness. He always had endless energy to spare.

Often, he would argue with his family’s old antiques one moment, then spend two hours boxing at the gym the next. Memorising lines until dawn, he could still wake up early the next day, maintaining a high level of focus during filming, rarely showing signs of fatigue.

Getting an injection at the hospital was like stealing a break amidst his busy schedule.

Since the injection was in his left hand, it didn’t hinder him from using his right hand to scroll through his phone.

While scrolling through Yan Shu’s Weibo again, he accidentally stumbled upon a fan-posted video of a music festival opening act, specifically featuring Yan Shu’s singing and dancing.

Almost involuntarily, the movie emperor put on his bluetooth earphones and started playing the video.
