Chapter 7 – A complete success

Translator: ChuRen/ YuQiChen

In a corner of the set.

A-Liang, squatting on a small stool, suddenly perked up his ears and stood up, “Who said Teacher Wei? Which Teacher Wei? Is it my idol?”

His curious glances around made Yan Shu unable to hold back a smile.

After looking around for a while without spotting the familiar figure he was expecting, A-Liang sat back down on the small stool with a sigh, “It must be someone with the same surname. After all, how could Movie Emperor Wei come to this poor crew? There’s not even a proper chair in the lounge.”

Yan Shu actually found the small stool quite convenient. It could be moved around easily and didn’t take up much space.

Glancing sideways at Yan Shu, who was sitting like a good boy waiting for his turn, A-Liang felt a pang of sadness in his heart.

“Forget it, who needs a personal van… Just a small supporting role, getting some screen time and a few lines is already good. Xiao Yan, I have a feeling you’ll be a star in the future.”

Yan Shu smiled but remained silent. He wasn’t sure how long he could continue in this line of work.

Not wanting to dampen A-Liang’s spirits with his pessimistic thoughts, he simply nodded in agreement.

“Xiao Yan, your scenes are all done, why isn’t the director letting you go?” A-Liang asked, puzzled.

Yan Shu shook his head. He was a novice in this area, and if the director said to wait, he would obediently wait.

He knew his performance wasn’t great, and perhaps the director wanted to reshoot later.

The director took every character’s scenes seriously, even for minor roles like his, they needed to be polished.

Respect and admiration welled up in Yan Shu’s heart. People from different positions shine in the careers they love.

Through this experience, he understood Guan Shuo’s anger and frustration that day even more.

After spending time together, Yan Shu felt that Leader Yu and the others were all great. He didn’t want to be a stumbling block on their dream-chasing journey.

No matter how far he could go on this path as an artist, for now, he couldn’t lose heart. He needed to give it his all.

After silently making up his mind, Yan Shu’s mood brightened.

Before long, a crew member came over with a message.

“The director said your scenes are good as they are, no need for reshoots. Your part is finished, you can leave now.”

“Alright, thank you.” Yan Shu’s eyes lit up with a touch of brightness. “A-Liang, let’s go back. Thank you for your hard work today.”

“I didn’t do much, just sat here waiting. It’s not easy for you to film for the first time today. Keep going, you’ll only get better in the future!”

Wei Tingxiao, who was hiding behind the film crew’s vehicle in the distance, breathed a sigh of relief. The director’s loud voice almost exposed him, but thankfully, he moved quickly.

Leaning against the car door, he watched the two figures who shared a smile, looking relieved as they walked out of the set. A slight curve formed at the corner of his lips.

Since they were both artists in the entertainment circle, they would probably meet again in the future…

Wei Tingxiao couldn’t explain it himself, but he felt a strong connection with this youth and inexplicably looked forward to their next meeting.

In the following week, Yan Shu was diligently training for the upcoming singing and dancing show they were about to perform.

At a music festival, the opening act was to be performed by the SAP boy group, and this time, he couldn’t afford to make any mistakes.

Other members of the group could feel Yan Shu’s seriousness during this period and noticed his improvement day by day.

Initially, Yan Shu had trouble coordinating his body movements, but after intense training, he gradually became skilled and fluent in completing the entire show.

Yu Chenzhou and the others were all very pleased.

The one who felt the most touched was Guan Shuo. He realized that his judgment of Yan Shu had been wrong.

This kid had unlimited potential. As long as he was willing to do it, he could do it well, and…

Yan Shu now exuded a charm that was hard to look away from.

Had they all overlooked Yan Shu’s shining qualities before? Why did this kid suddenly become so handsome in the past few days? Strange!

Yan Shu himself felt the progress in his singing and dancing.

He wondered if his soul was becoming more integrated with this body, and he faintly felt that the muscle memory of the original owner was about to awaken.

Although he still lagged behind Yu Chenzhou and the others in singing and dancing, at least he didn’t make any mistakes. Yan Shu was already satisfied.

Being able to keep up with the others, maintaining uniformity, and not lagging behind, gave Yan Shu a sense of accomplishment.

It’s no wonder so many people are willing to pursue their dreams here. Yan Shu seemed to understand a little bit of the fascinating feeling after sweating profusely and giving it his all.

Soon, the music festival arrived as Yan Shu prepared day by day for the performance.

The host was lively on stage, and the members of the SAP boy group were waiting backstage.

In the dim backstage environment, Yan Shu could almost hear his own heartbeat.

This was the first time after crossing over to this world that he was about to face a performance seriously. He was no longer standing dumbfounded like when he first arrived.

In this completely unfamiliar field, Yan Shu had to put in all his effort.

Yu Chenzhou patted his back reassuringly, “It’s okay, you can do it.”

Guan Shuo tapped his ear and said, “Just dance like you did during rehearsals, relax your body and expressions, don’t be nervous.”

You Qi added, “Xiao Yan was really great during rehearsals, didn’t make a single mistake. This time is your chance to shine and show those critics how cool you are on stage!”

Song Shi’an smiled and said, “Just stay calm, I believe in our teamwork.”

“Okay!” Yan Shu took a deep breath and nodded firmly.

As he took the stage and the music started playing, Yan Shu felt like he was back to the day he first arrived, but this time, it was a completely different scene.

He almost wished his late dad could see him now, a ge’er who rarely left the house, going wild like this.

His dad would probably be shocked. His flamboyance, his lack of restraint… every move exuded a force that broke free from constraints and cages.

Perhaps this was what people longed for in this era.

“Ah! Oh my goodness! They are really, really handsome!”

“I’m going to cry! Their moves are so synchronized! Is this the joy of experiencing live performances?”

“Our SAP group is the best! Even Xiao Yan did a great job this time! Keep it up!”

The SAP boy group was referred to by fans as the “SAP Group”. In this music festival, there were other male and female groups as well as singers performing, but only about a tenth of the SAP Group’s fans were present.

SAP was currently in a period of steady growth, not the most popular, but not without a following.

The live atmosphere of today’s music festival truly made the SAP fans feel the impact. The spiritual shock they experienced was indescribable in words.

“The brothers look so much better on stage than in the camera, I was so hyped just now, I forgot to film!”

“No worries, I got it all on camera. I’ll edit individual shots later. Let’s see who dares to say our SAP group lacks talent!”

“Yan Shu really surprised me today. I remember in the show we followed before, he seemed to make a lot of mistakes. I guess his condition wasn’t good back then.”

“Today, everyone’s condition was great! The official video will probably be online later. I’m going to watch this performance a hundred times!”

“If they keep up with the standard set by this opening act, the SAP group will explode in popularity. I hope Longfeng Entertainment treats them well and provides more resources for the kids! Pretty please!”

“The brothers are shining so brightly on stage that I dare not blink. My favorite group has really gone from unknown to better and better. I suddenly feel so moved, why is that? *Sob*!”

At this moment, Yan Shu was still in a post-performance daze, his heart pounding, his mind wandering.

You Qi suddenly rushed over, lifted Yan Shu up, and spun him around. “Yes, yes, yes! The first performance was a complete success! Xiao Yan deserves credit for it!”

Guan Shuo firmly held onto Yan Shu, separating him from a certain someone who was trying to get close, grabbing the person’s collar and sternly saying, “Don’t suffocate him! Can’t you see he’s still recovering?”

“Why? Are you jealous that I’m getting close to Xiao Yan?” You Qi replied mischievously, sticking out his tongue.

“You…” Guan Shuo’s face suddenly turned red. “You’re insane!”

“Haha, I hit the nail on the head, didn’t I? You’re just jealous. Otherwise, why don’t you get close to Xiao Yan too?” You Qi teased, playfully pushing Yan Shu towards Guan Shuo.

Yan Shu, still in a daze, accidentally bumped into Guan Shuo’s arms when he wasn’t paying attention.

“You dead squid1the word squid in chinese is youyu鱿魚, the you(You’d pronounce it like: Yo oo but with no pause in between the Yo and the oo) here has the same pronunciation as the you in You Qi ! Stop right there!” Guan Shuo hurriedly held Yan Shu, then showed a face ready to pounce on You Qi and beat him up.

Yu Chenzhou and Song Shi’an watched the playful scene of the group, sharing a smile.

“It feels like it’s been a while since we performed so joyfully,” Yu Chenzhou remarked.

“Yeah, the atmosphere within the group hasn’t been this lively for quite some time,” Song Shi’an said, gazing gently at the scene, feeling sentimental.

“Let’s hope we never part ways and can stand on even bigger stages in the future to achieve our shared dreams,” Yu Chenzhou expressed his wish as the team leader.

After finishing work and returning to the company, the group decided to have a hotpot feast in the living room to unwind.

Yan Shu had just changed into his home clothes when he was called away by Wang Shigang.

“Why does it have to be right now? Old Wang really can’t see the timing, how annoying!” You Qi grumbled unhappily.

“It’s okay, let’s get the hotpot ready first, and we can start eating when Xiao Yan comes back.” Song Shi’an poured a pot of hot water and added it to the pot.

“That old fox must have something up his sleeve.” Guan Shuo helped unpack the freshly ordered ingredients and arranged them on the table, muttering to himself.

“Let’s not overthink it. Xiao Yan did so well today, why would Wang-ge want to make things difficult for him?” Yu Chenzhou’s words calmed everyone down a bit, and indeed, there was no reason for Wang Shigang to cause trouble for Yan Shu at this critical moment. They would wait for Yan Shu to return before discussing it further.

In the manager’s office.

Yan Shu, who had performed exceptionally well, was being fed empty promises by Wang Shigang.

“Xiao Yan, I watched your performance! It was great. I knew I didn’t make a mistake. You are suited for this industry!” Wang Shigang even proactively poured a glass of water for Yan Shu and handed it to him.

“…” Yan Shu remained silent with lowered eyes.

Regardless of Yan Shu’s emotions, Wang Shigang continued excitedly, “The director of the supporting role drama I sent you to before also praised you. You have a future in the entertainment industry!”

“I’m telling you this to inform you that tomorrow, you’ll join me at a dinner party. There will be many investors there. Sweet-talk them, don’t stay silent. If you can latch onto one of the big shots, you could easily become the male lead in our next production!”

Yan Shu raised his eyes, his gaze clear yet bewildered.

Why choose him?
