Chapter 75 – Extra 1

It has been more than half a year since the wedding at sea. When Mu Xingyu awoke from a dream at midnight, he couldn’t help but hear the familiar melody of the “Wedding March” in his ears.

Sometimes he would have a very unreal feeling, fearing that everything now was just a dream.

He buried himself deeply in Gu Yunzhou’s arms, and the familiar scent of Gu lingered at the tip of his nose, bringing him comfort.

“What’s wrong?” Gu Yunzhou, feeling the movement, woke up and asked.

“It’s nothing,” Mu Xingyu usually responded, and sometimes he would express his emotion, “Yunzhou, I feel so unreal.”

“Why does it feel unreal?” Gu Yunzhou bit his lip hard, letting him experience real pain.

“Okay, okay, I know you’re real,” Mu Xingyu hurriedly smiled and moved away.

Mu Xingyu is no longer just a popular idol. At the Golden Branch Awards held last year, he won two awards—Best Newcomer and Best Male Supporting Actor—at once, becoming a powerful idol of the new generation.

Of course, even with two trophies, the public still harbors doubts about him, given his wealthy partner. However, Mu Xingyu was very satisfied and motivated himself to achieve better results.

Soon, there was more good news: ” End of the Dream,” directed by Director Fang Dao, was shortlisted for the main competition unit of the Aksino Film Festival, one of the top three film festivals in Europe.

This festival, which has a long history and great international authority, invited director Daniel from Country M as the chairman of the jury this year, attracting the attention of international filmmakers.

The film festival was scheduled for the end of February. To arrange their itinerary, Mu Xingyu and Gu Yunzhou first flew to the UK on the third day of the Lunar New Year to pay tribute to their parents, then headed to the film festival.

“End of the Dream” is Mu Xingyu’s first major film. Being shortlisted for the main competition of an international film festival was a huge affirmation for him. Since the announcement of the shortlist, domestic media began reporting enthusiastically.

On the day of the opening ceremony, he and the crew walked the red carpet, filmed by reporters from many countries, and appeared in various movie-related reports.

After the film’s release, critics from all walks of life praised Mu Xingyu’s performance, and many speculated whether he would win an award.

Mu Xingyu, aware of his youth and inexperience as a lead actor, was already satisfied with his achievements.

Before the closing ceremony, “End of the Dream” crew received a message from the organizer asking them to attend, a usual indication that a film might receive an award, although the specific award was not disclosed. The whole crew was thrilled yet nervous.

They all hoped for good luck, feeling it unlikely that fortune would favor them excessively.

Mu Xingyu, with no expectations, attended the ceremony calmly and ultimately did not win an award.

However, Director Fang received the Best Director Award, adding to his previous win at the Cannes Film Festival and solidifying his status as a godfather of literary films in China.

During the festival, Mu Xingyu met Greco, a well-known Italian director, and later starred in an Italian-style romantic film. Thanks to his solid foundation in Italian, there was no barrier to communication.

When chatting with Director Greco, Mu Xingyu found that the director had actually seen “Travelling on a whim,” the show he participated in, and had been very optimistic about him since then.

For filming, Mu Xingyu stayed abroad for four months, during that time Gu Yunzhou flew to Italy to visit him. To appease the aggrieved President Gu, Mu Xingyu promised that after the filming, he would take a break and spend every day with Gu Yunzhou at home.

Currently, Mu Xingyu has not received any notices and is enjoying life at home.

At this time, Lan Ying informed him that the second season of “Travelling on a whim” was in preparation, and the program team invited Mu Xingyu to participate again as a resident guest.

The major difference this time is that the program adopts a new model of network linkage broadcasting, divided into live online broadcasts and TV station broadcasts.

Specifically, the performance of the guests on the program will be broadcast live to the audience as soon as possible, and then the recorded content will be edited and aired on the TV station.

However, Mu Xingyu refused decisively. He regretted participating in the show with An Xiangwan last time and now just wants to enjoy time with Gu Yunzhou without going out and facing challenges.

After hearing the news, Gu Yunzhou took the initiative to convince him before going to bed that night.

“You’re bored at home, so go on the travel show.”

“Forget it, I want to stay home with you,” Mu Xingyu replied, scrolling through Weibo absently.

“Go, you don’t have to be a resident guest; it’s good to be a guest for the first time.”

“Don’t you want me to stay with you at home? Why are you suddenly persuading me to participate in the show?” Mu Xingyu put down his phone and looked at Gu Yunzhou with a puzzled expression.

Gu Yunzhou hurriedly explained, “It’s easy to overthink things at home, so going out on a trip should help you relax.”

“Where am I overthinking things?” Mu Xingyu retorted, but recently, he indeed couldn’t sleep because of his worries.

After thinking about it, he agreed to participate in “Travelling on a whim.” The program team’s secrecy was tight, but Mu Xingyu, wary of a repeat of the last time, insisted on knowing all the guests before agreeing to sign the contract. The final guest lineup surprised him.

The permanent guests were still Chen Jia and Ji Yang. Along with Mu Xingyu, the first-time guests included Xia Mujin, Nie Shaoyuan, and Tong Qiu.

Xia Mujin is the heroine of a hit drama this year, sweet-looking and very popular. Nie Shaoyuan, a famous martial arts star, has won several Best Actor Awards, and Mu Xingyu had previously participated in a film starring him.

Tong Qiu is a renowned actress who rarely participates in activities; this would be her first time on a variety show. It is worth mentioning that she once had an affair with Nie Shaoyuan.

Mu Xingyu saw the guest list and felt that there was no one he disliked, so he quickly signed the contract.

This time, the program team changed their approach. Instead of giving the guests time to pack their luggage, they provided each person with a travel fund of $300 to buy necessary items after arriving in Florida, USA.

On the day of the recording, the resident guest who came to pick up Mu Xingyu was Chen Jia again. She was very happy to see Mu Xingyu.

“Xingyu, we meet again!”

“Jia jie, please take care of me on this trip.” Mu Xingyu smiled, chatting with Chen Jia as they got into the car arranged by the show team.

When the recording started, the live broadcast of “Traveling on a whim” also began on the video website. Although the website staff had expanded the server capacity early in the morning to ensure the stability of the live broadcast, it still froze due to too many viewers, and some people couldn’t even access the live broadcast interface.

After Mu Xingyu appeared, the XingXing fans who had been waiting for a long time in the live broadcast sent bullet screens to express their excitement.

Mu Xingyu didn’t know about the live broadcast issues but noticed the car was heading straight for the airport.

He was surprised and asked Chen Jia, “Aren’t we picking up another guest?”

This time, Mu Xingyu and Xia Mujin were supposed to be grouped together. After Chen Jia picked him up, it was time to pick up Xia Mujin. Chen Jia’s smile froze, and she quickly explained, “Mujin suddenly received an announcement that she could not participate in the first recording session. The program team has temporarily invited another guest. You’ll see him at the airport later.”

A bad premonition rose in Mu Xingyu’s heart. “Who is this guest?”

“You’ll know soon.” Mu Xingyu couldn’t help frowning, but considering the live broadcast, he could only smile lightly and say, “I look forward to it.”

Soon, they arrived at the airport, where a lot of fans had gathered. However, the program team had managed the security well, and the fans were waiting outside the barrier in an orderly manner. After Mu Xingyu got out of the car, the fans shouted his name frantically, showcasing his immense popularity in China.

In the live broadcast at this time, there was a sensational scene for viewing. Because of the live broadcast featuring Mu Xingyu, Nie Shaoyuan, and Tong Qiu, the video finally cut to the last guest, and the appearance of this guest directly exploded the topic.

The unexpected reason was that Gu Yunzhou’s face appeared in the live broadcast.

[Wow, I didn’t expect that the guest invited by the program team temporarily was President Gu!!]

[I’m going crazy, Mr. Gu and Xingyu participating in a variety show together, the picture is too beautiful to imagine.]

[The program team is very good. In the last season, Mr. Gu made a cameo appearance. This time, they directly invited Mr. Gu to be a guest. There are no words to express my admiration for the program team!]

[Speaking of Xingyu, he still doesn’t know that President Gu is also coming to the variety show, hee hee, looking forward to their meeting~~]

[Looking forward to it too!!]

All the major media on the internet reported it, but Mu Xingyu was unaware as he passed through airport security and entered the waiting room. After a short wait, he was surprised to see Gu Yunzhou approaching.

“Hey, didn’t you say you were going to a meeting? Why did you come to see me all of a sudden?” Mu Xingyu asked. In the live broadcast, the audience laughed and sent a flurry of comments.

[President Gu actually lied to Xingyu, I can’t wait for Xingyu to find out the truth.]

[President Gu, be careful that Xingyu gets angry.]

[To surprise Xingyu, Mr. Gu even took all the filmmakers with him, haha, will Xingyu be angry when he finds out he’s also a guest?]

“I couldn’t stay away; I decided to… I’m here to see you off, and…” Gu Yunzhou struggled with how to tell Mu Xingyu that he was also participating in the show.

At that moment, Ji Yang arrived at the airport with Nie Shaoyuan and Tong Qiuye.

“Everyone is here, oh, one guest hasn’t arrived yet,” Mu Xingyu noted, puzzled.

Tong Qiu laughed out loud, “Isn’t there another guest right in front of you?”

It was the first time Mu Xingyu had met Tong Qiu, and before he could greet her, he was speechless from her comment.

He looked at Gu Yunzhou, saw an awkward smile, and then heard him say, “Xingyu, I’m also coming on the show.”
