Chapter 2

Translator’s Note-Ready for a fresh chapter. Let’s begin!

When Xiao Wen entered and saw the smile on Mu Xingyu’s face, he couldn’t help but be stunned. He had been with Mu Xingyu for a while, and he already thought Mu Xingyu was quite good-looking, even as someone of the same gender. But now, he realized that Mu Xingyu was even more dazzling than before.

“What’s wrong?” Mu Xingyu asked, puzzled, as he noticed Xiao Wen staring at him. He quickly tucked the lotus bracelet into his sleeve.

Xiao Wen shook his head and said with a smile, “Xingyu ge, you look even better than before. I was so mesmerized.”

“Really?” Mu Xingyu felt somewhat strange. Could it be because he had drunk the water droplet from the lotus flower? He hurriedly walked to the bathroom to carefully examine his face in the mirror.

His face was the same as before, but his skin seemed much smoother. There used to be a scar on his right cheek from a childhood incident when a branch had pierced his skin while he was playing. Now, when he looked closely in the mirror, he couldn’t see any trace of the scar.

He couldn’t help but be surprised and gained a new understanding of the healing power of the lotus water.

Seeing Mu Xingyu lost in thought while looking at himself in the mirror, Xiao Wen teased, “Xingyu ge, you’re not amazed by your own appearance, are you? No wonder fans say that the biggest regret of your life is not being able to kiss your own face.”

“Stop teasing me. How did it go with the request for leave?” Mu Xingyu stepped out of the bathroom and asked.

“Director Ye approved your one-week break, but…”

“But what?”

“I haven’t told Sister Qin about the leave yet. I’m worried that she…”

Mu Xingyu interrupted Xiao Wen, saying, “Don’t worry about her. Whether I continue with this role or not will be decided later.”

“What!” Xiao Wen was surprised. “Xingyu ge, is there something wrong? Did Feng Zian do something to harm you behind the scenes again?”

Mu Xingyu shook his head with a smile. “No, there’s nothing like that. I have something to deal with at home.”

Xiao Wen finally relaxed, but then he remembered something he had seen earlier and said, “Xingyu ge, guess who I saw just now?”

“Who?”

“Mr. Andre! He must know about your injury and came specifically to see you.” Xiao Wen said excitedly.

However, Mu Xingyu’s expression instantly darkened. In his previous life, Andre had indeed heard about his injury and had come to the hotel to visit him. At the time, he had been happy, thinking Andre was genuinely concerned. But that was just one of Andre’s tactics to gain his trust.

Andre was exceptionally skilled at deception, and not only was Mu Xingyu deceived, but even the people around him believed that Andre held a special place in Mu Xingyu’s heart.

He entered the entertainment industry while concealing his true identity and received poor treatment on the set, as evident from his standard hotel room. André, with his noble status and prestigious family background, coming to show concern for him at this moment was undoubtedly a source of support.

However, now…

Mu Xingyu had learned Andre’s true identity and wanted to quickly distance himself from him.

“Xiao Wen, you go ahead and move the stuff downstairs. I’ll come down later.”

“Xingyu ge, aren’t you waiting for Mr. Andre to arrive?”

“No, there’s no need. I’ll go find him myself.”

“Huh?” Xiao Wen didn’t quite understand Mu Xingyu’s intentions.

Mu Xingyu didn’t explain and changed into casual attire. He packed up the remaining items and had Xiao Wen move them downstairs. Meanwhile, he took the elevator upstairs.

Upstairs was a suite where the key members of the production crew resided, and Feng Zian was on the same floor.

In his previous life, Mu Xingyu had a hostile relationship with Feng Zian and had never been upstairs. However, later, during his low point, he learned from Feng Zian that Andre had a long connection with him. Feng Zian had always targeted him, partly because he was afraid Mu Xingyu would take Andre away.

After the elevator doors opened, Mu Xingyu followed his memories and knocked on Feng Zian’s door.

Feng Zian answered the door, and upon seeing Mu Xingyu, he froze for a moment, looking somewhat surprised. Then, he put on a smug smile, adjusted his clothes to reveal a hickey on his neck, and pretended to be surprised, saying, “Xingyu, why are you here? What’s going on?”

Mu Xingyu calmly stated, “It seems like this isn’t the right time. Feng ge, I’ve been injured and need to rest at home for a few days, so I came to let you know.”

Feng Zian, with an apologetic tone, said, “Oh, I’m really sorry. It was my carelessness while filming. How’s the injury now?”

Mu Xingyu replied, “A few days of rest at home should do the trick,” not wanting to engage in more conversation with Feng Zi’an. He glanced towards the room and softly added, “Please give my regards to Mr. Andre.” With that, he turned and left.

In the room, Andre’s movements of getting dressed stuttered. He had initially thought that the suite was spacious enough, and Mu Xingyu wouldn’t notice him inside. However, when he heard Mu Xingyu’s final words, he realized that Mu Xingyu knew he was in the room and quickly rushed out.

Feng Zian blocked his way, saying, “Andre, don’t rush to leave.”

“The company has some matters to attend to, and I need to go back.” André said as he left the suite. By this time, the elevator doors had already closed. He had no choice but to wait for the next elevator and catch up with Mu Xingyu in the hotel lobby.

Mu Xingyu intentionally slowed down, waiting for André to catch up.

Hearing Andre calling him, he turned around and displayed a surprised smile, saying, “Mr. Andre, how did you come downstairs?”

Andre was an American, with his blond hair, blue eyes, and an imposing presence. People passing through the lobby couldn’t help but look at him.

This handsome foreigner approached Mu Xingyu with a guilty expression, saying, “Xingyu, please listen to me. I was just discussing something with Feng Zian, don’t get the wrong idea.”

“Mr. Andre, we’re just friends. I don’t need to know the details of your relationship with Feng ge,” Mu Xingyu responded politely.

In his previous life, he learned from Feng Zian that Andre had visited him after meeting with Feng Zian. This is why Mu Xingyu had taken the initiative to meet with Feng Zi’an, hoping to establish clear boundaries with Andre.

“Xingyu, please don’t be upset. I…”

“Mr. Andre, as friends, I genuinely wish you and Mr. Feng all the best. I need to get home now,” Mu Xingyu said and left the hotel lobby.

It was the middle of winter, and the harsh wind blew through him, making him shiver. However, a sense of relief washed over him, leaving him feeling comfortable. He briskly walked over to Xiao Wen.

Since the company hadn’t provided him with a car, Xiao Wen had arranged for a taxi. After getting in the car, Mu Xingyu told the driver to head to Bailu Bay.

Xiao Wen looked puzzled. Bailu Bay was a well-known wealthy neighborhood in Beijing, filled with standalone mansions, and property prices were exorbitant.

“Xingyu ge, your home is in Bailu Bay?” Xiao Wen asked with curiosity.

Mu Xingyu nodded. He had kept his identity hidden and was generally low-profile. Nobody at Fenghe Media knew about his family background.

The shooting location was in the suburbs, and on the way back, they encountered the evening rush hour, causing the car to move very slowly. Mu Xingyu took out his phone.

To avoid questions from his parents about his whereabouts and his escape from his engagement with Gu Yunzhou, he initially traveled, but he was unexpectedly discovered by a talent scout, leading to his entry into Fenghe Media.

For fear of his parents’ inquiries, his phone was usually on silent mode and stashed in his bag. Now, his phone had run out of battery. Mu Xingyu had to use Xiao Wen’s power bank to charge his phone and check his messages.

Upon turning on his phone, he was greeted with numerous missed call notifications. Opening WeChat, he found that his mother had sent him over ninety messages.

He quickly glanced through these messages, most of which were asking about his whereabouts and urging him to pick up the phone.

As soon as he finished reading the messages, his phone started ringing.

Mu Xingyu answered the phone, and his mother’s anxious voice immediately came through, “Xingyu, you finally answered the phone. Where have you been? Why was your phone off for so long? Do you know how worried I’ve been?”

“Mom…” Mu Xingyu remembered the scene from his previous life when his mother took sleeping pills, and his eyes welled up with tears. He struggled to control his emotions and said, “Mom, I’m on my way back now. I’m sorry for making you worry.”

“Really? It’s good that you’re coming back. Let me tell you, if you don’t want to marry into the Gu family, Mom is willing to help you. Don’t worry, just come back safely.”

“Mom, I’ve figured things out. I’ll talk to you about the details when I get back.”

Mu Xingyu and Gu Yunzhou’s engagement was a joke made by their mothers when they were children. Later, Mrs. Gu passed away, and he thought this joke wouldn’t be taken seriously. But unexpectedly, Mr. Gu brought up the matter again and firmly decided on the engagement.

Although the Mu family was wealthy, it was limited to domestic affairs, while the Gu family was internationally renowned. Gu’s family had started in technology and had expanded into overseas trade early on. Through an alliance with European nobility, Gu’s family had further extended their international market. Gu Yunzhou’s mother, Anna Philips Windsor, was the CEO of a top-notch international fashion conglomerate. The union of his parents elevated the Gu family to new heights.

Mu Xingyu and Gu Yunzhou were both men, but modern society allowed same-sex marriages. Gu’s family had foreign lineage, and their beliefs were more open-minded. Mr. Gu didn’t mind at all if his grandson married someone of the same sex.

However, this put Mu Xingyu in a difficult situation. He only knew about Gu Yunzhou from conversations with his parents. Gu Yunzhou was a business genius who combined his father’s technological industry and his mother’s fashion industry, creating a vast Gu Corporation. His father spoke highly of Gu Yunzhou, bordering on reverence. The business world was like a battlefield, and Gu Yunzhou was its ruthless overlord. Any company that dared to oppose Gu Corporation should prepare to go bankrupt.

Yet, this formidable figure in the business world had a disability, making him unable to use his legs. Even the world’s top doctors couldn’t cure him.

Perhaps due to his physical disability, Gu Yunzhou had a very cold and distant personality. To be honest, Mu Xingyu was quite afraid of Gu Yunzhou. He didn’t want to marry him at all.

Then Gu Yunzhou had an accident, falling into a coma with slim chances of recovery.

Mu Xingyu heaved a sigh of relief, but he hadn’t expected Mr. Gu to insist on his engagement to Gu Yunzhou, clearly hoping for Mu Xingyu to marry Gu Yunzhou and bring him happiness.

This infuriated Mu Xingyu. He had traveled under the guise of a vacation to escape the marriage. This was how he ended up entering the entertainment industry.

However, after experiencing a near-death encounter, Mu Xingyu had changed his mind. This time, he would marry Gu Yunzhou to rectify the mistakes of his previous life.

By the way, he now possessed a valuable treasure, and perhaps it could heal Gu Yunzhou and help him wake up sooner.

Mu Xingyu couldn’t help but touch the lotus flower bracelet on his wrist.

  1. His emotions facing Andre were too weak. Revenge sustained his previous life but he could face his enemy calmly and simply draw the line?

It’s also weird that a snake like Andre would react in such a flustered manner. Is he truly a mastermind? He could have claimed to be demanding compensation for MC.
