Chapter 72

As the variety show progressed, Ryan’s appearance immediately shocked the audience.

Unlike Gu Yunzhou, Ryan often appeared in public and sometimes participated in financial programs, but as a foreigner, this was his first time appearing on a domestic variety show.

Later, when Ryan sent the production team back home on a luxurious private jet, many netizens couldn’t help but marvel:

[“What luck does the production team have to suddenly invite two top tycoons?”]

[“These are people who can’t be invited even with money.”]

[“It seems like inviting Mu Xingyu and An Xiangwan to participate in the program was a wise move. Buy one get one free, it’s a huge profit.”]

Ryan’s appearance boosted the show’s ratings to a new peak. When the plane landed and Gu Yunzhou came to pick them up, kissing Mu Xingyu on the forehead, the ratings reached their peak.

After the broadcast of the first two episodes of “Traveling on a Whim” the topic exploded, and discussions among the audience continued unabated.

As a new variety show, the ratings for the first two episodes were 1.85 and 2.66 respectively, showing how enthusiastic the response was after the first episode aired, directly leading to a significant increase in the ratings for the second episode.

With such strong support, Mango TV rescheduled “Love You Every Day,” and the production team of “Special Operation” also began to intensify its promotion.

……..

It is now midsummer, the weather is hot, and Mu Xingyu continues to rest at home without accepting any new roles.

During this time, the W&W brand filmed a summer-themed commercial for him. For some reason, he always felt Steve was acting strangely. He tried on many suits with similar styles, and Steve diligently recorded the differences in sizes and the effects on his upper body.

Of course, this was just a minor incident in his life, and he didn’t pay much attention to it. What really puzzled him was Gu Yunzhou.

Recently, the Gu Group had been busy acquiring an internet company, and Gu Yunzhou had been working hard, attending meetings frequently. Sometimes when Mu Xingyu went to the company to see Gu Yunzhou, he couldn’t find him. When he asked Jiang Yunxin, she said Gu Yunzhou had gone out for work.

Mu Xingyu found it strange because usually, it was the heads of other companies who came to the Gu Group’s building. When would it be Gu Yunzhou’s turn to go out for work personally? Moreover, by observing Jiang Yunxin’s expression, he realized she was lying, which made him even more curious about what Gu Yunzhou was doing.

If it were someone else, discovering that their partner had gone out without informing them would surely make them suspicious. However, Mu Xingyu understood Gu Yunzhou better, trusted him, and felt that partners should give each other some space, so he didn’t continue to press for answers.

Soon after, the TV drama “Love You Every Day,” starring An Xiangwan, aired. In the previous life, this drama was led by Duan Ming, but this time with An Xiangwan, it had a different effect.

Mu Xingyu didn’t follow the drama closely, but for the sake of comparison, he watched two episodes online.

Duan Ming was tall and handsome, portraying the male lead as a domineering president, while An Xiangwan was young, proud, and arrogant, more like a domineering young master. Overall, An Xiangwan’s acting skills were not as good as Duan Ming’s, and the performance wasn’t as impressive.

However, due to the promotion of “Traveling on a Whim,” the drama still gained a lot of attention, and its viewership and popularity remained quite good. Of course, this drama couldn’t compare to the one from the previous life, and with the changes in the script, it leaned more towards idol drama, with less influence compared to the early year’s “The Journey.”

After that, “Special Operation” began its roadshow mode, and Mu Xingyu, as a guest star, also participated in the roadshow activities.

Although he didn’t have many scenes in the movie, the production team considered his popularity and the promotional effect of the variety show, so they arranged for him to attend the premiere and two roadshow events.

The premiere was held at the Garden International Hotel. When Mu Xingyu went to attend, Gu Yunzhou also went along.

“Aren’t you very busy lately?” Mu Xingyu asked.

“Although I’m busy, I still have time to watch a movie.”

At this premiere, the production team invited many celebrities to attend, but when Mu Xingyu and Gu Yunzhou appeared together on the red carpet, many people exclaimed in surprise.

Their photo together was quickly uploaded online, becoming the most eye-catching topic of the evening.

…

Inside the movie theater, Gu Yunzhou sat in the guest seat, watching Mu Xingyu on stage with a faint smile on his face.

The premiere began quickly, following the planned schedule. After Director Song finished introducing the movie, the media reporters began to ask questions freely. At first, the media mainly focused on the male lead, Nie Shaoyuan, occasionally mentioning Tong Lingling and others.

As the question session was about to end, a media reporter curiously asked Mu Xingyu, “Mr. Mu, if I may ask, when will you and President Gu’s wedding be held?”

“Wedding?” Mu Xingyu was stunned, momentarily at a loss for words.

But Gu Yunzhou frowned in the audience, clearly displeased by the reporter’s question.

Tong Lingling quickly picked up the microphone to change the subject: “I know everyone is very concerned about Mu Xingyu and President Gu’s wedding, but now it’s the movie premiere. Let’s not stray from the topic.”

After the question session ended, the production team and the main cast thanked everyone present and then began playing the movie.

Mu Xingyu stepped down from the stage and sat next to Gu Yunzhou, watching the movie together.

It was his first time seeing himself on the big screen, and he felt a special sense of pride. Director Song was very skilled at orchestrating scenes, and his shot designs were unique, making Mu Xingyu even more dazzling in the movie than usual.

After the 118-minute movie finished playing, the audience highly praised the film, saying that experience counts, and Director Song’s “Special Operation” was definitely an outstanding commercial film.

On the way back, Mu Xingyu asked Gu Yunzhou, “Just now, when the media mentioned the wedding, why did your expression change?”

“I remembered when you came to the Gu family, I was unconscious and couldn’t give you anything.”

“It’s okay, anyway, we just got our marriage certificate this year,” Mu Xingyu smiled and then suggested, “Why don’t we have a wedding now? What do you think?”

Mu Xingyu couldn’t help but frown. According to reason, Gu Yunzhou should be very happy. He quickly asked, “Are you hiding something from me?”

“No, don’t overthink it.”

Mu Xingyu didn’t think he was overthinking it. Gu Yunzhou’s behavior was indeed very unusual.

But later, he had to go to Guangzhou and Shanghai for the roadshows, so he didn’t have time to dwell on what Gu Yunzhou was hiding from him and missed the opportunity to know the surprise in advance.

After the premiere, “Special Operation” opened its ticket presale. Many people, attracted by Director Song’s reputation, started buying tickets. Since this was Mu Xingyu’s first movie, XingXing fans were very enthusiastic, mobilizing to buy tickets to watch. For better publicity, it was usually fans who conducted offline promotion and ticket giveaways.

To Mu Xingyu’s surprise, An Xiangwan actually retweeted his promotion of “Special Operation” on Weibo and even arranged a private screening.

He didn’t know what had happened to An Xiangwan, but since the enemy can become a friend and An Xiangwan was showing goodwill, he put aside his conflicts with An Xiangwan.

Among the many fans helping with promotion, Mother Mu generously organized ticket giveaways. Anyone who retweeted and promoted the Weibo without any negative records about Mu Xingyu could receive movie tickets from Mother Mu.

Gu Yunzhou, watching everyone’s vigorous promotion of the movie, also began to lend a hand to Mu Xingyu.

His method was simple—just directly buy out theaters. He chose a hundred cinemas nationwide, booking ten screens each day. As long as people were willing to watch “Special Operation,” they could follow the instructions on the theater booking chart and go to any theater with a booked screening.

When releasing this news, Gu Yunzhou naturally used his secondary account, and his generosity made the XingXing fans admire him greatly.

“Oh my god, our Meteor God is indeed generous when he acts.”

“Our Meteor God is so amazing, truly our pillar of support.”

The fans did the math. According to Gu Yunzhou’s announced theater booking chart, he would spend over two million yuan each day. This showed the fans what a true rich fan was.

During the roadshow in Guangzhou, Mu Xingyu heard Tong Lingling mentioning this wealthy fan of his, and he couldn’t help but feel grateful. So, he once again opened Weibo and invited fan to join him at the Shanghai roadshow.

The wealthy fan quickly replied, “Sorry, I don’t have time to join.”

Mu Xingyu felt regretful and continued to message, “Where are you? I can go to your city to attend the roadshow. Honestly, I really want to meet you.”

“No need, I don’t want to waste your time,” Gu Yunzhou quickly replied.

“It’s okay, it’s just for promoting the movie.”

Gu Yunzhou became even more intrigued and immediately typed, “Really no need, thank you for your kindness. The movie is very good, I wish it a big success!”

Mu Xingyu sent more messages afterward, but there was no reply from the other side. He had to reluctantly give up his plan.

The next day, Mu Xingyu flew to Shanghai to attend the roadshow. While interacting with other creators on stage, he suddenly heard surprised voices from the audience. There were XingXing fans among them, waving their phones and shouting for Mu Xingyu to quickly check his phone.

Mu Xingyu felt puzzled and quickly checked his messages. Xiao Wen also saw the online news, looking shocked and urging Mu Xingyu to come off stage.

This made Mu Xingyu even more puzzled. But since he was still on stage, how could he just walk off? Some fans couldn’t contain their excitement and loudly told Mu Xingyu, “President Gu’s secondary account has been exposed!”

Mu Xingyu didn’t understand and then heard fans say, “The Meteor God is President Gu!”

Now Mu Xingyu finally understood why everyone was so surprised, and of course, he was equally shocked.
