Chapter 26

It was past 8 o’clock in the evening, the time when most people’s nightlife began.

In a high-end apartment, two people who had just engaged in intense physical activity were embracing each other intimately.

“Andre…” Feng Zian called out and reached out to touch Andre’s cheek.

Feng Zian was very pleased. He had been with Andre for a while now, but Andre had never been as excited as he was just now. It made him feel like he had completely won Andre over.

“I’ve been interested in a TV series lately and want to play the role of the second male lead. Andre, can you talk to the investors for me?”

Andre was in a good mood and asked, “What TV series is it?”

“‘The Journey,’ it’s a historical costume drama. Let me tell you about the director of this series…”

At that moment, Andre’s phone rang, interrupting Feng Zian’s words.

Feng Zian saw the name displayed on the phone – Mu Xingyu. He felt a sinking feeling in his heart, and his face turned unpleasant.

From the beginning, he had noticed that Andre had a special connection with Mu Xingyu, even helping Mu Xingyu pay the breach of contract fee, which drove him crazy with jealousy.

“Why is he calling you?” Feng Zian asked, his tone demanding.

Andre’s cold azure eyes glanced at him, sending shivers down Feng Zian’s spine. He dared not say another word.

Answering the call, Andre smiled and said, “Xingyu, what made you think of calling me?”

“Andre, something has happened to President Gu!”

“What are you saying? What happened to my cousin?” Andre asked urgently.

“Someone poisoned him, and he’s in the operating room right now. I’m really scared. Can you come over?”

Andre displayed a triumphant smile and whispered, “Xingyu, don’t worry. I’ll come right away.”

“Yes, my grandpa isn’t here, and you were the first person I thought of. Please come over quickly.”

“Alright.” Andre got out of bed and hurried to leave.

Mu Xingyu received a signal from Sun Heming, realizing that Andre’s phone was also highly secured, making it difficult to locate Andre’s position quickly. So, he deliberately said, “Andre, wait, I have something to discuss with you.”

“What is it?”

“Well, the thing is, President Gu is currently poisoned. I’m worried…worried about what will happen to Gu’s Group if something happens to him.”

“Don’t worry, I’m here,” Andre smiled.

“Yeah, I believe in you. You are the most suitable person to lead Gu’s Group besides President Gu,” Mu Xingyu said. At this moment, Mu Xingyu saw that Andre’s location had finally been identified on the screen, so he ended the call.

However, he noticed that both Charles and the other bodyguards had surprised expressions on their faces. Although they were all impressed by Mu Xingyu’s acting skills, Gu Yunzhou found it rather peculiar. When had Mu Xingyu become so familiar with Andre? He felt a pang of jealousy.

“President Gu, based on the coordinates, Mr. Andre’s location matches the position of the mastermind,” Sun Heming said, but this revelation didn’t bring any joy to the room.

Andre was Gu Yunzhou’s cousin, and if he turned out to be the mastermind, it would implicate internal struggles within the powerful family.

“It seems that aristocratic families have their share of drama,” Charles couldn’t help but comment.

Gu Yunzhou’s expression became even darker. He remained silent, which made everyone in the room fall into an uncomfortable silence.

Mu Xingyu felt concerned when he saw Gu Yunzhou like this. “Mr Gu…”

Gu Yunzhou shook his head and told Sun Heming, “Continue tracking the signal, and we’re heading there now.” He then pushed his wheelchair toward another hidden door, with Mu Xingyu following closely.

“Please go back!” Gu Yunzhou suddenly stopped and said.

“No, I want to go with you.” Mu Xingyu couldn’t miss such an important situation involving Andre. Moreover, he was worried about Gu Yunzhou.

Charles approached and said, “Let’s go; don’t waste any more time.”

Gu Yunzhou frowned but didn’t argue further.

Soon, five cars rushed towards the eastern part of the city. One of them, a large Hummer, stood out. Inside the car, Gu Yunzhou asked, “How did you know that Andre was the real culprit?”

Mu Xingyu had prepared his lines well in advance and calmly stated, “He is your cousin, holding shares in W&W and also the CEO of the Locke Group. He had both the motive and the means to target you. Additionally, when Grandpa was shocked, I noticed that many of the company’s top executives, including Vice President Zhang, showed an interest in having him take over Gu’s Group. That’s why I find him suspicious. Haven’t you ever suspected him?”

Mu Xingyu found it strange that with Gu Yunzhou’s intelligence, he didn’t notice anything suspicious about Andre.

“I did have my suspicions, but I never found any evidence.”

“Even without evidence, as long as you keep investigating, I don’t believe you can’t find any clues.”

“Yes,” Gu Yunzhou chuckled and admitted, “My mother is the second daughter of the Windsor family, and she excelled from a young age, eventually inheriting W&W Group. Her sister, to benefit the family’s development, married into the Locke Group. So my mother has always felt guilty towards her.”

“So you don’t want to investigate further?” Mu Xingyu understood the complexities of grudges and entanglements between aristocratic families.

…

After receiving Mu Xingyu’s call, Andre was in high spirits. He was well aware of how potent the poison he had prepared was. He felt it was time to pay his cousin a visit.

He got out of bed and began dressing, which made Feng Zi’an anxious. He held on to Andre’s waist and asked, “Andre, where are you going?”

“Suddenly, I have something to attend to. You go ahead and rest.”

At that moment, someone knocked on the door. Andre opened the door to see a worried black-suited bodyguard. “What’s going on?”

“Sir, can you show me your phone?” The bodyguard had noticed signs of a security breach on his own phone, so he came to find Andre.

Andre handed his phone to the bodyguard. After a series of operations, the bodyguard’s expression became solemn as he said, “Sir, you’re being tracked.” He turned off the phone.

“What are you talking about? How is that possible?”

“Sir, now is not the time to talk. Let’s get out of here!”

Andre and the bodyguard spoke in English, which Feng Zian couldn’t understand. It was only when he saw Andre leaving abruptly that he finally realized.

He thought Andre left suddenly because of Mu Xingyu, which made him grow even more resentful toward Mu Xingyu.

In the car, Andre still couldn’t believe that he was being tracked. The bodyguard made a call to the person who was monitoring Gu Yunzhou at the hospital and asked, “What’s the situation with Gu Yunzhou?”

“Go inside and check the situation immediately,” the bodyguard ordered.

However, it wasn’t long before this subordinate’s communication was cut off.

In reality, Gu Yunzhou’s bodyguard had noticed the tailing presence quite some time ago, but to deceive the mastermind behind it, he had been keeping the tail. Now that the true culprit was revealed, any movement from the tailing person was immediately seized upon by Gu Yunzhou’s bodyguard.

Andre also detected a problem and instructed the bodyguard to speed up toward the embassy.

But soon, he noticed a car chasing him from behind, and one of those cars was particularly familiar to him – it was the custom-made car for Gu Yunzhou.

“No, wasn’t he poisoned? How can he be here?” Andre refused to believe it, and eventually thought back to the sudden phone call from Mu Xingyu. It dawned on him, “Mu… Xing… Yu.” He grounded his teeth, unable to believe that his well-thought-out plan was compromised because of Mu Xingyu’s phone call. Moreover, Mu Xingyu had apparently conspired with Gu Yunzhou to deceive him, further fueling his anger.

To evade the pursuers, Andre instructed his bodyguard to overtake other vehicles regardless of traffic signals, simply pushing ahead.

It was past 8 PM, and the traffic was heavy. After passing two intersections, Gu Yunzhou’s team lost sight of Andre’s car.

Andre and his bodyguard had long since turned off their phones, making it impossible for Sun Heming to track their whereabouts. So, Chen Feng asked Gu Yunzhou, “Should we seek assistance from the traffic police?”

“No need. Have one car wait on the route to the embassy.”

Mu Xingyu, curious about Gu Yunzhou’s confident demeanor, asked, “How did you know he was heading to the embassy?”

“Besides the embassy, there’s nowhere safe for him,” given Gu Yunzhou’s current capabilities, he wasn’t exaggerating. His emotions had stabilized, and he asked Mu Xingyu, “You seem quite familiar with him?”

“No,” Mu Xingyu firmly shook his head.

“Is that so?”

“Of course,” Mu Xingyu explained, “I only met him after entering the entertainment industry, and I only learned that he was your cousin after marrying you.”

Initially, Gu Yunzhou had a serious expression, but hearing a certain sentence from Mu Xingyu instantly pleased him, lightening the atmosphere inside the car.

Not long after, a bodyguard ahead reported that they had indeed blocked Andre at an intersection.
