Norton and the others went off somewhere. At least, Dylan didn’t see them around.
The only Grantz left in the room now were Dylan and Ye Muo.
Dylan’s gaze was locked onto Ye Muo.
He still remembered how, when he woke up, Ye Muo’s psychic power occupied his psychic domain unabashedly. They didn’t feel like they had bad intentions, but their blatant presence greatly alarmed Dylan.
Yet he controlled his subconscious desire to attack.
Entering his psychic domain was not as simple as entering the territory of a ferocious beast.
One’s psychic domain was a very vital and private place, equivalent to the neck and heart.
Ye Muo’s actions were the equivalent of rolling around on the vulnerable belly of a big cat while it was sleeping.
Dylan never opened his psychic domain even as a child to his parents. No Grantz would expose their vital areas to others, not even their own family. Such an act would only put them on edge and inspire frustration.
Yet Dylan’s main concern right now wasn’t the invasion of his private domain, but the fact that Ye Muo had been able to enter his psychic domain to begin with.
This concerned him so much that he wasn’t even up to asking his brothers how they had awoken him from his eternal slumber.
Only direct blood relatives could enter each other’s psychic domain. It wasn’t possible even between siblings. Only parents and children could.
But there were exceptions. There has been documentation of certain individuals whose psychic power was fundamentally covert and low-key. Their psychic power could barely force their way into the mental domains of those less psychically powerful than them, as well as allow others to enter their own psychic domains.
In the end, most of these individuals were accepted under special circumstances into military academies, and then Grantz’s intelligence and assassination organizations.
It was rare but not impossible for those with no direct blood relationship to enter each other’s psychic domain.
However…
Dylan frowned at Ye Muo.
Ye Muo had the black hair and black eyes typical of a Grantz.
It was more than likely that he…was Dylan’s child? Dylan took in how ridiculous that possibility was for a moment.
Dylan’s scrutiny had been going on for a bit too long. Everyone else had noticed at this point. They quietened down and kept shooting discreet glances this way.
Ye Muo couldn’t help but lean towards the doctor, subconsciously moving away from Dylan.
The doctor who was examining Ye Muo stiffly spoke up, “Is there anything you need, Prince Dylan?”
At those words, Dylan’s line of sight shifted up a fraction to the doctor. He responded in a rasp with a question of his own, “Is it over?”
The doctor realized after a beat that Dylan was inquiring about Ye Muo’s examination. He subconsciously thought that Dylan wanted to see the results as well and secretly breathed a sigh of relief.
“It is, but the results and the analysis report are still with our head doctor. He’s reporting to His Majesty right now. If you would like–” I can give a brief rundown.
Before he could even finish his sentence, Dylan unleashed his vast psychic power, which immediately filled the entire room with an intense aura of aggression.
Even the instruments in here were affected and went haywire for a few seconds.
Those without blood relations might be able to enter each other’s psychic domain, but psychic resonance was different. Everything would become clear once he tried to enter resonance with this child.
Dylan’s control over his psychic power was far superior to that of a little Grantz. He precisely maneuvered the vast and terrifying psychic power in the medical centre around the others.
Still, everyone present could feel the terrifying pressure Dylan exuded.
Ye Muo, who was facing Dylan directly, felt the full brunt of it all. It was like a roaring lion was pouncing on him, its prey.
He wanted to run, but his body remained frozen in place.
Norton, Ano, and even Adrian had never fully unleashed their psychic power during their first meeting with Ye Muo. This was the child’s first time facing a Grantz and the full extent of their power.
Ye Muo’s eyelashes flickered briefly as his psychic power was cajoled into action by Dylan’s own. Ye Muo couldn’t control his psychic power that well, but he could vaguely sense them to a degree.
His psychic power accepted Dylan’s own without a shred of resistance. It even turned the tables and started entangling with Dylan’s aggressively approaching psychic power.
Like a cub that didn’t feel any fear even when faced with an adult male lion, it happily pounced over to play and try to catch the lion’s tail.
Dylan was somewhat shocked before he frowned imperceptibly. He didn’t encounter any resistance from beginning to end. His suspicions of Ye Muo being his direct blood relation only intensified.
Ye Dylan still cautiously interacted with Ye Muo’s psychic power. He probed the boundary of the child’s psychic domain in an attempt to initiate resonance.
No Grantz liked to allow others to enter their psychic domain, and Dylan’s psychic power naturally came off as extremely aggressive to boot. They put others on edge.
……
Meanwhile, Norton suddenly turned his head sharply in the direction of the medical centre as he was listening to the doctor’s report.
He too mobilized his psychic power in an instant.
Ano and Adrian gave him a puzzled look, not sure why their big brother was suddenly acting this way. They realized what was going on a second later. Like himself, Dylan’s psychic power was like a blazing fireball with ample presence.
Norton’s psychic power soon returned to him like a sharp blade swiftly returning to its sheath.
Dylan’s psychic power could also no longer be felt. Yet now, Ye Muo’s psychic power was roaming and spreading across the entire warship.
More or less everyone present on the mothership was taken aback as they sensed them. They exchanged glances of disbelief with those around them. The mothership was basically the command console of the Grantz fleet and symbolized the Grantz Emperor’s authority. Norton almost always controlled the mothership using his psychic power, not allowing any part of it to run rampant.
Yet now, Ye Muo’s psychic power was rampantly spreading almost unchecked across the mothership, as if they wished to usurp the mothership and the authority of the Grantz Emperor.
Norton avoided Ye Muo’s psychic power for fear it would affect Ye Muo himself. This child was obviously greatly drained after awakening Dylan and Adrian.
Ye Muo had just awoken Dylan today. He couldn’t take another huge blow anytime soon.
Norton allowed Ye Muo’s psychic power to spread across the mothership unchecked after shutting down the command console and channel. With that, he immediately turned on his heels, unsheathing his sword as he headed back.
Ano’s pupils dilated for a moment as he reacted and quickly caught up to Norton. “Big Brother!”
Adrian stood in place. He clicked his tongue after making sense of the situation, “That Dylan again. What’s he up to now?”
He fell in line behind his brothers.
Dylan stopped almost as soon as Norton put a stop to it, but Ye Muo couldn’t control his already active psychic power as they did as they wished.
Norton’s figure appeared at the doorway. His eyes skimmed over Ye Muo first before coming to rest on Dylan.
He didn’t call Ye Muo over to his side. As furious as he was, he understood that Dylan did not intend to harm Ye Muo in any way.
Although Norton’s tone remained the same as usual, everyone could feel the sheer pressure he exuded around him.
“Can I take what you just did as a provocation?”
Dylan didn’t respond. He met Norton’s gaze without any pretense. The staff in the medical centre stopped what they were doing and subconsciously tried to move away from the duo.
Ye Muo was the only exception. He glanced at Dylan, then Norton before running over to Norton’s side.
Dylan subconsciously turned to Ye Muo. He heard Ye Muo call out to Norton, “Father.”
Dylan’s eyes widened slightly.
He heard Ye Muo say almost petulantly, “We didn’t mean it.”
Of course Ye Muo understood the significance of the mothership his psychic power was still gleefully running amok on.
“I can’t control them.”
Norton glanced down at Ye Muo before returning his gaze to Dylan. Dylan bowed his head and finally spoke, “You know, Big Brother.”
His words were a little stiff, “Like he just said, I didn’t mean it.”
Norton stared at Dylan for a few seconds before sheathed his sword. He walked over to the man and bumped their shoulders lightly together. “Welcome home.”
Dylan made a sound of acknowledgement. His lips quirked up slightly before he turned to the doorway.
Ye Muo didn’t follow Norton over. He hid behind the wall and quietly peeked in their direction. As soon as Dylan’s gaze swept over, Ye Muo shrank back again.
Norton noticed the interaction and quietly stated, “That’s Xavier, Xavier Grantz. My child.”
He explained after a brief pause, “His psychic power is very unique and must be dealt with cautiously.”
It took Dylan a moment to realize why Norton was so furious just now. That it wasn’t just because he had taken the liberty of using his psychic power.
Norton left to find Ye Muo again after he finished greeting Dylan.
Adrian and Ano, who were standing by the door, were talking with the child. When Norton left, they went to Dylan and greeted him one by one.
Ano hugged Dylan and greeted him in a good mood, “Welcome home.”
He quietly stated with some hesitation, “You must have scared Ye Muo.”
Ano immediately explained, “I’m referring to Xavier. Ye Muo is his other name. Long story short, his mother is surnamed Ye.”
Adrian bumped Adrian’s shoulder somewhat forcefully. “It’s about time you learned some self-control. Don’t be so impulsive next time.”
Dylan gave him a look, but he didn’t rise to the provocation as he realized he was in the wrong this time. He frowned slightly.
“I admit my fault this time, but that child is a Grantz. Don’t think of him as some fragile doll. That won’t make him happy either.”
If someone had described Dylan that way, Dylan would have made sure the other person understood properly what it meant to be scared.
Adrian snorted loudly as he took Ano by the shoulders, blocking the words Ano hesitantly tried to get out.
That said, Dylan knew he wouldn’t be happy if someone had done what he just did to him either. He was already thinking about what kind of present to give to Ye Muo as an apology. What about a warship or a mecha? Or a king insect hunting trip maybe? Every child liked those things.
He would ask Ye Muo himself the next time they crossed paths.
Dylan thought, reaching over to check the inhibitor around Ano’s neck.
Ano tilted his head a bit and let him. “I’ll bring you one too later. It’s better than nothing.”
Dylan made a sound of acknowledgement before asking, “What about Aria, Helen and Gackpo?”
Ano and Adrian both went quiet. They exchanged a look.
It was Adrian who answered him, “In the graveyard, just like Father and Mother.”
……
Norton led Ye Muo away from the medical centre and into a lounge.
He sat the child down on the couch before carefully looking him over and starting a resonance session.
Ye Muo was still a little nervous. “I can’t recall them, Father.”
He couldn’t control all of his psychic power, so this would happen whenever he used all of it.
“It’s fine. This is normal.”
Norton leaned forward to press their foreheads together. He initiated resonance to help Ye Muo recall them back into his psychic domain.
