At noon, Winston answered Hunter’s phone instantly after one ring.
He walked out from the door. The call was from the team’s nutritionist.
“Little Hunter! You’re still not coming down for lunch!? You need to eat regularly, if not you’ll collapse during the race, do you understand!?”
“I’m sorry, I’ll bring the food up for him.”
An icy yet courteous voice was transmitted, causing the nutritionist to lose her mind for a moment.
“That… Can I know who you are?”
This voice certainly didn’t sound like anyone’s from the team.
“…Oh! Oh my god! You’re Winston? Winston from Ferrari?”
“My god! Have you eaten lunch? Do you need me to prepare for you as well?”
The nutritionist became excited. She had already heard that Winston’s impression of Hunter wasn’t bad, but who would’ve expected that he’d actually be in Hunter’s room!
Hold on, if Winston was inside Hunter’s room, then why did this kid fall asleep instead of exchanging some expertise?
“If it’s not troublesome, then thank you.”
Winston’s answer made the nutritionist burst with joy.
Heavens! Surprisingly, Winston wanted to eat a nutritional meal that was prepared by them!
When Winston came down to the cafeteria to take the hearty lunch away, the team already having a meal was surprised.
“That… is Hunter alright?” One of the strategy analysts asked with some level of concern.
“He’s fine, just sleeping,” Winston replied and then faced Marcus.
Marcus stood up to shake hands, after all… maybe there would come a day where it rained red— when Winston’s contract expired and he might be willing to join their team?
“Mr Marcus, I’d like to give a little advice regarding Hunter’s race at Silverstone.”
If it was a driver from another team who tried giving advice to Marcus’ team, not Winston, everyone would feel that they were a conceited person who arrogantly humiliated others.
But Winston’s face didn’t show any superfluous expression and his tone was serene and impartial. Instead, he made it incapable for anyone to feel negativity.
“With Hunter’s technical proficiency and your car’s performance, he’s suited for three pit stops 1Race strategies include things like when to take a pit stop and how many times to pit since they need to change the tires that are being worn down through the race all while the timer is still going. So as long as Hunter can overtake either racer, he can safely make a 4th stop to change to less worn tires . If he has an opportunity to overtake Donald or Peni in the final ten laps, there’s no harm in daring to make a fourth stop.”
Winston’s words left Marcus feeling stunned.
“What you’re saying is… Hunter can overtake Sauber’s Donald or Renault’s Peni?” Marcus exposed an expression that seemed to say ‘this was a fantasy’.
For Hunter to be able to achieve sixth position in the previous round was like ‘breaking records’ as far as the whole team was concerned.
But it was impossible for him to go on to break another one. Marcus would already rejoice if he was able to just remain in the top ten ranks in the Silverstone.
“Of course he can.”
Finishing, Winston carried the plate and left.
On the other hand, Marcus dumbly looked at the technical director beside him.
The technical director shrugged his shoulders. “If Hunter was driving a Ferrari… it could be possible?”
“Hey, we’re using Ferrari engines this year ok!”
“So… there’s still a chance?”
Hunter was awakened by the smell of the food.
He opened his eyes to see Winston sitting by the bedside.
“Hey… how long did I sleep for?”
“Oh… Is this the lunch prepared by the team?”
“You went to help get it for me?”
Hunter could imagine the rest of the team’s expressions at that moment.
“Come and eat, the taste should be ok.”
Hunter grabbed the plate Winston passed over, feeling a little amazed.
He felt that Winston… how should one say it, being such a conservative guy, he wouldn’t be accustomed to others eating on the bed?
Hunter couldn’t help but peek at him as he delivered food into his mouth.
The angle of his winding fingers and his wrist while he curled up the spaghetti was truly elegant, in addition to his drooping eyebrows as he was about to send the spaghetti to his lips. Hunter couldn’t even shift his gaze.
“What are you looking at?” Winston raised his eyes.
They were originally sitting quite closely, so he was able to see Winston’s eyes. The bottom of Hunter’s heart felt an indescribable wave of jitteriness for no reason.
“Why do you have German sausages on your plate but I don’t?” Hunter randomly found an excuse.
“The nutritionist said you hated German sausages.”
“But they don’t look that bad today?”
Winston didn’t say a word as he forked a small piece and sent it to Hunter’s lips.
“Then give it a try.”
Hunter’s tiny heart trembled for no reason. He lowered his head to engulf the sausage.
Winston continued to fork up some asparagus and pasta to place into his mouth, completely ignoring how Hunter previously touched his fork.
“It seems fine, can you give me another piece?” Hunter wondered if the other would feed him again.
Actually… it tastes really unpalatable…
“Fork it yourself,” Winston replied.
Hunter felt disappointed.
Why would he even eat that strange thing if he had to pick it up himself!
“Say, if I could still enter the top sixth position, how do you plan to encourage me?”
Hunter put down his plate and looked expectantly at Winston.
The latter’s expression didn’t even change. “Isn’t it a given to get the sixth position?”
“…Do you actually have confidence in me or are you just being perfunctory?”
“I won’t act perfunctorily in your matters.”
Winston finally lifted his eyes, looking at Hunter.
Since the swaying zenith was being supported as such, there was no reason for unrest.
“It’s my first time coming to London…”
“I know. If you can enter the top six, I’ll accompany you around London. Where do you want to go?”
Oh right, Winston was British!
“The London Eye. There’s always a scene of the London Eye collapsing in every apocalyptic movie!”
“It’s just a ferris wheel that’s placed fourth globally. It takes 30 minutes to do a round, whereas it doesn’t even take you more than 10 minutes to start feeling bored and clamour to go down,” Winston indifferently explained.
“…Well, you’re saying it like you know me so well.”
“Yes. At that time you’ll feel sleepy, saying that you don’t understand women’s romance.” Winston set the plate aside, upturning his chin.
That attitude, it was undoubtedly despising Hunter’s taste.
“Hey, have you never thought that after the championship is over, you can bring your loved one to the London Eye to sightsee. You can hug and you can kiss, so why would it be boring?”
“I understand, 30 minutes is also enough to make love.”
Hunter almost spat out his spaghetti.
“Winston! Since you have the ability, reply just like that to all the media that has interviewed you!”
“Sure, but since the reason you gave is ample, I can accompany you to see the London Eye. Where else do you want to go?”
“Tower of London.”
“That’s where convicts are held.”
“Is it really gloomy inside?”
“If I was the king, guess what the first thing I’d do once I get inaugurated?” Hunter laughed, which caused his plate to almost fall. Winston held onto the edge of the bed with one hand while the other firmly caught the bottom of the plate.
“What are you planning on doing?”
At this angle, Winston just happened to look at Hunter’s eyes from the bottom up.
His breath swept past Hunter’s lips, permeating through the cracks of his teeth, yet disappeared as it was about to touch the tip of his tongue.
“I’ll lock you in the Tower of London, making you my eternal prisoner.”
Hunter felt that he was going crazy, he didn’t know why he’d utter these kinds of things.
What he originally wanted to say was that he’d decorate the Tower of London as a gingerbread house for children to play with for free.
But when Winston got closer to Hunter, the tip of his tongue, his vocal cords, even his brain felt like it wasn’t his own.
He was inexplicably nervous, but once he thought about Winston’s cold sense of humour, he felt that this was nothing at all.
“Fine,” Winston replied.
“Fine… what’s fine?”
Is it to visit the Tower of London with me, or to be my prisoner?
Don’t leave me in suspense, could you answer me?
Instead of answering his question, Winston deflected and asked, “Where else?”
Forget about it… Winston would never give him an answer.
“Eton College2Eton College is a prestigious boarding highschool for 13-18 year olds, not actually a college ! Is it too far away from London? How about driving your black Ferrari?”
He could also drive it along the way.
“You’re not someone who wants to study.” Winston’s implication was that Hunter didn’t yearn for prestigious schools, so why would he run so far to visit Eton College?
“Hey, it was formerly a school for the nobility! Can’t I go there to experience the aristocratic culture?”
“Then don’t go,” Winston answered.
“Oh…” Hunter blanked., “No wonder so many people comment that you have an air of nobility, so it turns out that you’ve received an aristocratic education!”
In reality, he wanted to see what sort of repressive atmosphere Eton College had aside from its supposed extravagance. Such to cause the crown prince of Nepal to go crazy, to educate the Baron Brocket3Charles Nall-Cain, who is the 3rd Baron Brocket, was convicted of insurance fraud in 1996 and sentenced to five years in prison, of which he served two and a half years – wiki who engaged in dishonest work, and Darius Guppy4Guppy was jailed for staging a faked jewel robbery and claiming £1.8 million from the insurers in February 1993 – wiki who committed a scam by faking the robbery of his jewels.
Winston cooly stated, “In your heart, you don’t really want to experience an aristocratic environment, but rather laugh at the so-called aristocratic education, right?”
Hunter choked for a bit.
He suddenly felt a little awful.
Why was Winston Vann the person that actually understood him the most?
“Hey, you still haven’t told when you’ve heard me swear before!? Those three sentences, when did you hear me say them?” Hunter decided to finally get to the bottom of this.
“In a previous lifetime.”
“Here we go again! In a previous lifetime! Your answer is so cursory.” Hunter was suddenly interested, sometimes he felt that Winston appeared to be confessing, even his ambiguous hints of cold humour were intriguing. Also the talk of some previous lifetime and such was actually quite ‘original’, so why doesn’t he continue along the conversation and see what else this fellow could make up!
“Sure, you tell me, when have you heard me swear in your previous lifetime?” Hunter propped his knees, looking at the latter with interest.
The author has something to say:
When frying eggs:
Winston: I’m originally your timeless prisoner, but the place I’ve lost my freedom at wasn’t the Tower of London.
Hunter: Then where?
Hunter: WTF! Where are you touching!?
Fat melon wishes everyone a happy new year and that all is well with the world! Please continue to love me~ Just like how Winston loves… a race car, would be good!

nura: I’m sorry that this chapter took so so so long. I’ve been rather occupied by projects from work and post-sch and am feeling quite overwhelmed by a couple of things irl, so it just got harder and harder for me to focus on this project. But I’ll still continue to work on this, just that I’m begging for this period to let go of me first… QAQ
E/n: fell victim to the flu so this took even longer my apologies ಥ_ಥ
