After the test, the class president, with a gossipy look on his face, approached the person he had always considered cold and aloof.

Jian Xie was packing up his stationery and preparing the textbook for the next class.

His ability to suppress his restlessness after the exam and quickly get into study mode was a stark contrast to the enthusiastic discussions among the students around him.

ā€œHow did the test go?ā€

The class president’s question was merely a casual remark since everyone already knows Jian Xie couldn’t have done poorly.

Sure enough, he glanced at him and said, ā€œFine.ā€

ā€œI heard there’s a transfer student coming today, did you know?ā€

The class president glanced at the other students talking and asked curiously, ā€œI’ve never seen a student transfer less than a month before the college entrance exam… Just for that reason alone, everyone in class is curious. What kind of person do you think they’ll be?ā€

ā€œIt’s either a top student or a school bully,ā€ one student joked, ā€œlike Jian Xie who transferred here a year ago.ā€

They hadn’t forgotten that he came to this school in his senior year.

Upon hearing this, the English class rep snorted and muttered, ā€œHe’s not like Jian Xieā€¦ā€

ā€œNo matter what they are, transferring here now will only lead to poor exam results.ā€

Their school was a top-tier highschool, and not just anyone could keep up with their pace.

Besides, their regular review courses have long since ended and they were only doing practice problems and mock exams now. That student wouldn’t learn anything here.

He then realized after speaking that his comment contained a hint of praise.

He had always targeted Jian Xie in the past and was now unsure of how to treat him. He immediately looked nervously at Jian Xie, trying to glean his reaction, only to find that the other showed absolutely no interest in their discussion about the transfer student.

It was as if—

ā€œWhy does it seem like… you don’t look very surprised? Do you know the transfer student?ā€ The class president asked, voicing his inner doubts.

Jian Xie said, ā€œDo I?ā€

Class president: ā€œ….ā€

Was he not even willing to pretend?

Just then, the class bell rang, breaking the silence.

Even with many questions still on his mind, the class president could only return to his seat dejectedly and wait for the next class to begin.

The English class representative, however, felt strongly that something was about Jian Xie.

Although he remained calm and didn’t seem to want to participate in their discussion, the English class rep saw him glancing at his watch several times, as if waiting for something.

Anyway, their teacher was not here yet.

The English class rep simply tore off a piece of paper, wrote down his question, crumpled it up, and turned to throw it at Jian Xie in the back row.

Missed.

The crumpled paper rolled into the aisle.

Jian Xie didn’t notice his actions, or perhaps he didn’t pay attention to it and didn’t intend to pick it up. He continued to read his book with a calm expression.

Never before had he been ignored like this. He was seething with anger, yet dared not do anything to Jian Xie.

The English class representative tore off another piece of paper, crumpled it into a ball again, intending to throw it to him again, but before he could even raise his hand, the paper was snatched from him. At the same time, a voice came overhead, ā€œDo you know him?ā€

This was what he had written on the paper.

The other person read it aloud so casually in complete disregard of him.

ā€œWait, who are you?ā€

The English class representative instantly became furious. He turned around to look at the person who snatched the crumpled paper he had been planning to throw at Jian Xie.

The figure opposite him immediately caught his eye.

It was a youth who looked to be about their age with handsome and arrogant features. Eve without speaking, he exuded an air of loftiness and disdain. His eyes were slightly narrowed as he looked down at him, giving him a sense of extreme pressure.

It was a striking and aggressively handsome appearance that almost immediately caught the attention of everyone present.

Almost no one dared to speak loudly.

The English class rep unconsciously fell silent.

One thought involuntarily surfaced in the minds of the entire class.

This is… for sure a school bully!

At first glance, he didn’t seem like the type to be trifled with at all.

Even though he was wearing a similar school uniform to them, no one dared to believe he was truly a helpful and friendly student. He seemed more like a lawless delinquent who would pick trouble everywhere, break a bunch of school rules, and someone the teachers would give up on disciplining…

He was certainly good-looking, but who would dare talk to him?

Amidst the dead silence, the homeroom teacher finally appeared on the doorway. Seeing the unusually quiet class, he said kindly, ā€œSorry, something came up earlier. Did you guys meet already? This is the new transfer student, everyone please don’t be shy. Have you introduced yourself yet?ā€

The last question was directed at the transfer student.

ā€œI did,ā€ he said leisurely, ā€œEveryone was very cordial.ā€

The whole class inwardly screamed: ā€˜he’d done none of that! Hadn’t even mentioned his name!’

It was all just thoughts, after all.

Nobody wanted to provoke him at the moment.

ā€œOh, then that’s good.ā€ The homeroom teacher felt relieved, then instructed the class, ā€œThis student’s Chinese isn’t very good, so he doesn’t talk much. He’ll be studying at a university abroad and he’s just here to mingle at our school.ā€

No wonder he was so beautiful, turns out he was mixed-race.

ā€œ….ā€

While everyone was distracted, Jian Xie paused, his pen twitching slightly.

Chinese isn’t very good?

Studying at a university abroad?

Why didn’t this evil god just say he was a direct-entry student to Miskatonic University, lives in Arkam, and planned to study mysticism and alchemy?

ā€œChoose a seat for this period, then I’ll take you to complete the remaining procedures at noon.ā€

These words caused everyone’s hearts to jump and their faces to tense.

Choosing a seat? Who would be the unlucky one?

Amidst all the nervous gazes, the transfer student’s purpose was very clear. He slowly walked through the aisle between tables, headed for a certain location.

The class president’s heart leapt to his throat but a thought suddenly flashed through his mind, striking him like thunderbolt.

Wait a minute….

The only empty seat in the class and the one without a deskmate seemed to be Jian Xie’s.

He abruptly looked up, turned around, and saw that the transfer student had indeed walked towards Jian Xie’s table.

A suppressed gasp suddenly filled the classroom.

The transfer student tapped on Jian Xie’s desk, his posture languid, and said with a smirk, ā€œClassmate, can I sit here?ā€

Very pretentious.

Jian Xie replied, ā€œ…Yes.ā€

With permission granted, the transfer students sat down next to him in full view of everyone. His attitude was completely natural without a trace of the coldness he displayed in front of them earlier. It even gave the impression of excessive favoritism.

The others: ā€œ….ā€

Their feelings were slightly complicated.

The class was incredibly agonizing for the others. They eventually endured until the end, and several more minutes passed before someone dared to approach the transfer student and start a conversation.

ā€œAre you from America?ā€

ā€œWhat’s your name?ā€

ā€œWhy did you transfer at this time?ā€

He was bombarded with questions, but he didn’t pay any attention.

Looking closer, the transfer was already slumped over the table. He didn’t even lift his head, completely ignoring their questions.

ā€œ….ā€

This was really drawing a lot of hatred.

Jian Xie glanced at his new deskmate, saying nothing.

Just then, the transfer student straightened up and replied very fluently, ā€œYou’re speaking Chinese, I don’t understand.ā€

Everyone: ā€œ…..ā€

It wasn’t that he didn’t understand, it was that he didn’t want to understand.

However, this scene gave them a strange feeling. That this seemingly unapproachable transfer student was actually quite obedient to Jian Xie?

But they had only just met!

While they were wondering, someone finally couldn’t hold back and blurted out, ā€œYou… weren’t you the one who trended on social media with Jian Xie, the live action evil god who practically stepped out of the book?ā€

ā€œDamn, I knew he looked familiar. But I remember he was a bit older on that trending list?ā€

ā€œWhat book?ā€

A girl exclaimed excitedly, slamming her hand on the table. ā€œIt’s a bestseller! ā€˜In Love with an Evil God: The One Who Can Manipulate Minds’!ā€

Hearing that perplexing title again, Jian Xie: ā€œ….ā€

A bestseller… He couldn’t forget the scene at the monster gathering he had convened, where everyone was holding a copy of this book.

Before he knew it, it had practically become the monsters’ bible. It was hard to say that Wu Qinghe hadn’t done something about it.

After all, he had seen him at the book signing.

Thinking of this, Jian Xie couldn’t help but glance at Qin Zhou.

The culprit of the whole incident was completely oblivious to having become the center of attention, maintaining his aloof attitude towards everyone else.

He just stared at him.

Sometimes, Jian Xie arrogantly thought that he was the only one in this evil god’s world because he had never shown interest in anything else.

This time, the evil god’s transfer here was not on a sudden whim but was his own idea.

Jian Xie didn’t want him to see things merely through his eyes anymore, but feel everything for himself instead. This was one of the most important purposes he had in mind.

Just like how the other taught him how to let go and feel loved.

After the gossiping crown finally dispersed, Jian Xie lowered his head, looked at his homework, and whispered, ā€œAre you adapting?ā€

Living among humans you’ve never cared about.

The evil god had been pulled into the human world, becoming tainted by the mundane realities of life.

Hearing this, Qin Zhou smiled.

It was an extremely rare, heartfelt smile, dispelling the gloom and arrogance in his eyes, freeing him from all sense of distance, and making him look exactly like an eighteen year old boy.

The evil god’s hand reached out from under the desk and tightly grasped Jian Xie’s hand where no one could see. While gazing at the latter’s profile, he answered unrelated to the question, ā€œI like it.ā€

  1. Thank you very much Xena for bringing this novel to us while working! In my opinion as long as the translation is fluent (as in readability) and coherent I like it. Can’t judge anything else besides spelling and grammar anyway. Have a nice break and if it’s summer at your place, enjoy yourself ā˜ŗļø
