Shen Li flinched. He nodded towards Gu Xingchuan. He thought Gu Xingchuan was going to laugh at him. Embarrassed, he could only continue on. “I always wanted to learn since I was a child. But no matter how I learn, I still can’t..”
Gu Xingchuan’s head felt like it was rammed by something. He stared fixedly at Shen Li, his throat frozen.
His mind kept replaying the image of the first time he saw “Shen Li”, like a neverending movie film.
At that time, he just celebrated his fifteenth birthday. From the Upper east side of his mansion in Manhattan, Gu Shaoyuan was thrown into a small courtyard in the imperial capital [of China], to spend the rest of his life with his seriously ill grandfather, in lieu of the busy Gu Shaoyuan to do his filial piety.
In Gu Xingchuan’s lifetime, other than seeing his grandfather once a year for the New Year, there were no other things to speak about, to say nothing of the deep feelings he had for the other. The moment he left his grandfather’s, he leaned listlessly in the back seat of the car, boredly looking through the car window at the unfamiliar streets of the imperial capital.
The instance he thought about not having any computer, no game console, no buddy to play soccer with, it was like hell for the fifteen-year-old Gu Xingchuan. There was no worse moment than this.
His grayed emotions, filled with unparalleled depression, made the world so dark and dull. Yet, at this moment, there appeared a bike against the sun’s rays. Wind blew the hem of the teenager’s white long sleeve collared shirt, revealing half of the pale waist being brushed by the golden light. A brief moment of passing that left the shadow of the teenager skimming against the car window, as fleeting as the reflection across a river.
Gu Xingchuan’s eyes never left the teenage’s figure. He vaguely saw the metal name plate pinned to that teenager’s shirt – Shen Li.
Heart thumping.
His entire being heated up. The frustration caused by the unfamiliar environment disappeared, and a budding love-like sensation shone above his head, leaving him very much looking forward to this next life.
Later, Gu Xingchuan saw Shen Li at school. As an Omega, Shen Li’s appearance met his aesthetics. And since Shen Li had a lot of people he liked, he simply set Shen Li as his first love.
Even if he did not know what it meant to like at that time, it did not matter. From the time he was small until now, only the best was his – he went to the best school, drove the best car, lived in the biggest house. And therefore, his first love should be with the most beautiful Omega.
Immediately, he pursued Shen Li, logically thinking that Shen Li would agree. Who knew during the halfway chase, there was another nerdy classmate who would also chase Shen Li?
No matter how he looked at Song Yi, Gu Xingchuan could not find anything pleasing about Song Yi. Was he worth being his love rival?
Hence, he always found fault with Song Yi. Purposely deflecting the ball during gym class, smashing it hard towards Song Yi’s body, then commanding Song Yi to pick up the ball. Who knew in the next class, his textbook was stuck back in 502.
Proud without having anyone in his eyes for so many years, this was the first time he met someone daring to fight back. What’s more, this person was his love rival. He thought of ways to make fun of Song Yi, thinking how to defeat this person, to make Song Yi lose with satisfaction. Seeing Song Yi angry would make him happy.
But now, the person he liked was not Shen Li at all. In fact, it was wrong from the very beginning. Then, who was the one he liked then?
Shen Li sensed something was wrong. He trembled. He had never seen Gu Xingchuan with such an expression, like the beginning of a tempest.
“BANG!” The sound echoed.
Gu Xingchuan’s bicycle fell to the ground. He glanced at Shen Li. “You come with me.”
Shen Li hesitated before raising his feet and followed in small steps.
Song Yi narrowed his eyes, feeling helpless. With how this young master’s temper was like, once he knew the whole matter, who knew how angry he would jump to.
Gu Xingchuan took Shen Li to the back of a car, hidden behind the crowd.
Shen Li wiped the beading sweat on his forehead. Worried, he asked, “Xingchuan, are you okay?”
Gu Xingchuan took a deep breath to calm his emotions. He focused on Shen Li. “Who wore your nameplate on October 5, 201X?”
Shen Li froze for a moment, not knowing why he was asking this. He tilted his head in thought. “It’s been too long, I don’t remember.”
In the next second, his neck was firmly strangled, pinching into him like iron pliers. He slammed onto the car door. Shen Li, ignoring the severe pain in his back, panted heavily, struggling to push him away, but he could not shake off Gu Xingchuan at all.
“Think carefully, don’t say you don’t remember.” Gu Xingchuan warned in a low voice.
Shen Li’s lips trembled, struggling to think. He coughed a few times and asked, “October 5, 201X?”
“Yes.”
Shen Li’s eyes were a little strange, filled with either doubt or fear. “I remember that day. Because there was an event in the school, the seniors who had been admitted to a top-ranking university returned to school to give an inspirational speech. The teacher chose me to be one of the volunteers at the venue, but I was not feeling well at that time. So I asked someone who was wooing me to be my volunteer.”
After he finished speaking, he clearly felt the changes in Gu Xingchuan. The muscles of the arm that held his neck tightened, while those fingertips resting on his veins shook terribly.
Both of them knew very well that among Shen Li’s suitors, only one would replace him as a volunteer.
In a trembling voice, Gu Xingchuan asked again to confirm, “Was it Song Yi?”
Under that focused stare, Shen Li nodded with difficulty. “It was him.”
Gu Xingchuan withdrew his hand, tightly clenched into a fist and hung on his side, veins bursting out. It was a very ferocious sight. After a long time, he slowly released his fist and raised one arm to cover his eyes, as if he was afraid of the light. His emotions could not calm down.
It turned out that he had liked Song Yi since nine years ago.
So it turned out to be wrong from the very start. Some items he was initially not sure about were figured out in an instant. Like lightning amidst the thunder, everything was now clear.
How he hated that he could not slap himself twice. In his heart, he recalled Song Yi’s expressive face – his cynical expression, easy-going expression, furious expression, frozen half-closed eyes, each of which impressed him deeply. Why didn’t he didn’t find out earlier?! Yet, he was also annoyed he didn’t even know who he liked, wasting nine years in vain.
The cruelest and most beautiful thing about youth was the same – that is, it could not be rewinded.
Shen Li managed to inhale a big breath of fresh air. He looked up and found Gu Xingchuan’s eyes on him had changed – as if looking at a stranger, indifferent and disgusted. Shen Li felt as if he had said the wrong thing, but he had no idea what was wrong.
The sharp whistling whistle sounded. Contestants who were participating in the cycling tour of the desert lined up in a row. The sun was bright and high, as the roadside was crowded with spectators.
Gu Xingchuan stopped looking at Shen Li. He walked away without looking back, silently picking up the bicycle that fell on the ground.
Seeing him so gloomy, Song Yi was a little worried whether he could ride the bike for so long in this state. “Why don’t we go back?”
Gu Xingchuan strode forward with one long leg and sat nicely onto the bicycle. He resisted the words he wanted to say, and instead, lightly acknowledged those words. He said softly, “Just wait for me.”
After finishing, he pedaled his bicycle, leaned over and rushed towards the scorching sun at a fast speed, galloping away like an arrow leaving the string.
He rode fast, full of urgency. He had never cycled so fast in his life, as if he wanted to catch up with the passing time.
Gu Xingchuan was the first to break through the finish line. His tense muscular calf was trembling, and his ears were ringing because of that strenuous exercise. His short black hair was dripping with sweat, so he casually pushed his hair to the back of his head, exposing his forehead before wiping away the sweat.
A crowd from the competition side swarmed towards him, holding microphones and cameras, making a lot of noise and shouting for cheers one after another.
Song Yi waved his hand in his direction, holding the mineral water bottle. Gu Xingchuan strode over, ignoring everything behind him, moving with definite purpose.
A sharp figure splitting past the human tide.
Song Yi smelled the sun-dried sweat on his body as he smiled. “First place winner, you best go take a shower.”
However, Gu Xingchuan suddenly hugged him tightly within his arms, his breathing chaotic.
Song Yi could almost hear his violent heartbeat, as if it was beating right next to his ear. Worried, he asked, “Are you all right?”
Gu Xingchuan cursed in a low voice. He hooked his hands around Song Yi’s neck and lowered his head, forcefully kissing those lips, with emotions like a flood that couldn’t be blocked.
Song Yi gasped, his eyes widened, embarrassed. Although they kissed every day, this was the first time they kissed in front of Shen Li and Zhou Moquan, in full view of everyone’s eyes.
His head was buzzing, and he was cursing Gu Xingchuan for being crazy. Such fearlessness! But the greater the fire in his heart, the more he could feel the hot and soft lips against his, uncontrollable and menacing, yet gradually softening into gentleness, as tender as love.
When they separated, Song Yi closed his eyes and heard Gu Xingchuan’s anxious breathing, brushing against his cheeks, warming his skin.
Song Yi wiped his lips lightly and opened his eyes, not daring to face the fiery eyes around them. Gu Xingchuan stared directly at him, his eyes dark and shiny, like stars on a summer night.
Song Yi glared at him as he whispered, “What the hell happened to you?”
Gu Xingchuan didn’t move, his emotions uncontrolled and messy.
A few beats later, he turned his neck and recklessly shook the sweat off his head. “Too hot, let’s go back and take a shower.”
Song Yi glared at him. Luckily they were abroad. There were few Chinese people, and there were only a handful of people who knew them. Otherwise, there would be no place to put his old face, and Gu Xingchuan’s wife fans would smash his spine.
Once in the elevator, Gu Xingchuan pressed the lower floor button, then wrapped his arms around Song Yi’s waist. From the elevator to the door of the room, Song Yi’s feet didn’t even touch the floor. And like this, Song Yi was carried into the bathtub.
The white bathtub was not drained after taking a shower in the morning, and there was a layer of water at the bottom, which was rather slippery. Song Yi was startled. He tried to sit upright using his hands to support behind but the bathtub was too slippery, and he slid down instead.
Without saying a word, Gu Xingchuan lifted his shirt with both hands, took off his shirt, simply threw it on the ground, stepped into the bathtub, and approached Song Yi. The distance between the two was nary there.
Song Yi’s face was not too good. He was still frightened by what happened in the bathtub last time, “Have you forgotten the third rule, third line of our agreement?”
Gu Xingchuan looked down, reached out and pinched Song Yi’s soft earlobe, then leaned in for a kiss and puffed at him.”I don’t know about the third rule. I just know that I like you so much.”
Song Yi was shocked. In confusion, his mouth opened, feeling slightly touched.
Gu Xingchuan really likes him?
Gu Xingchuan had wanted to be his boyfriend yesterday. He thought about this possibility, but he didn’t think Gu Xingchuan liked him a lot so he didn’t bother to worry about it. Song Yi was rather satisfied with his performance these days, what should have been there was there.
But to go one step further and position the other party as someone to spend his whole life with, Song Yi was hesitant. Gu Xingchuan was not someone who likes children. He was a child himself, so how could he take care of children?
If they really developed to that stage, Song Yi wouldn’t want to take care of the child by himself.
It would be too tiring to take care of a child alone.
Gu Xingchuan looked at him with earnest eyes. He said seriously, “I want to take you back to Seattle and let my parents see you. This is not negotiable.”
The author has something to say:
#small theater#
The “widowed” parenting that Song Yi was worried about came true, but it was Xiao Gu who was “widowed”.
