In order to create a space where they wouldn’t be interrupted, Baal went to the effort of putting down wards around the suite. That way, even if the Mortal Realm erupted into World War III, it wouldn’t affect them.
After setting up the wards, Baal thought that the quiet space would be wasted if they didn’t do anything that wasn’t so quiet.
So he went in to take a shower first and then quickly came out, stood by the bed, and took apart the TV out of boredom.
By the time Wang Xiaoming came out, it was no longer possible to tell the TV had once been a TV.
“Baal?” Wang Xiaoming looked flabbergasted at the skeleton of the TV. “This belongs to the hotel.”
Baal answered, “I know.” If this had belonged to Wang Xiaoming’s parents, he probably would have had more fun taking it apart.
Wang Xiaoming feared that he didn’t understand and continued, “If it’s damaged, we need to pay for it.”
Baal raised an eyebrow. “Who’s going to ask me to pay?” One comes, one dies.
Wang Xiaoming looked at his “I’m the boss” expression and sighed in resignation, “When I get some money tomorrow, I’ll pay it.”
…
If Wang Xiaoming wanted to pay, then let him pay. Worst came to worst, he’d take it back after Wang Xiaoming paid.
Baal decided to stop persisting with this line of questioning. He strolled over to the bed and climbed on, putting both hands against the headboard and crossing his legs. “It’s boring without a TV to watch.”
Wang Xiaoming gave him a puzzled look. “You never liked watching TV before?” He had always spent the night playing on the computer.
Baal suddenly glared at him.
“What is it?” Wang Xiaoming was confused by the glare.
“Where’s the PSP you promised me?” Actually, since Baal’s body was fully recovered, he wasn’t as attached to the idea of the PSP as he was before. What upset him was that Wang Xiaoming had completely forgotten about it.
“Ah!” Wang Xiaoming slapped his own forehead.
Hmph, hmph, finally remembered?
Baal waited for Wang Xiaoming to look remorseful and apologize and try to make it up to him.
“Shoot.” Wang Xiaoming looked like his world was about to collapse.
…
Alright. Though the acting was a bit exaggerated, since he was being sincere about it, Baal decided to forgive the bad acting.
Wang Xiaoming leapt onto the bed nervously….
The moment had come!
Baal prepared himself to be pounced on.
“The tiger is still in the space!” Wang Xiaoming grabbed Baal’s arm and said anxiously, “It’s been so long. Could it have starved?”
…
“Better that it has starved, we can have tiger jerky!” Baal answered with a stormy expression.
Wang Xiaoming noticed the unhappy expression just then and recalled their conversation. He hurriedly added, “We’ll definitely get a PSP.”
“Hmph.” It was too late.
Wang Xiaoming followed up, “But let’s release the tiger first.”
“…”
In the end, the tiger was let out. Along with it came a bat that had been completely forgotten between the cracks of time—Prilli.
The first thing Prilli did was return to his human shape.
He’d spent too long as a bat and had almost forgotten that he could walk on his feet.
But misfortune follows happy times. Prilli had just found his feet and before he even had the chance to find a mirror and clean himself up, he felt a cold gaze staring unblinkingly at the back of his neck.
Baal was very pissed off right now.
Not only because Wang Xiaoming would become so close to the tiger whenever the two met up, to the point of forgetting about everything else, but also because they had an undesired guest, Prilli. Of course, Baal would never admit that he had personally put this undesired guest in the space himself.
“Lord Baal.” Prilli’s attitude was extremely respectful and then he looked at Wang Xiaoming in shock.
His Kindred instincts and smell all told him that the human had already become an existence that even the third generation Elders had to look up to.
“Wang Xiaoming… second generation lord?” Prilli called out softly in disbelief.
Wang Xiaoming turned around and nodded with a smile.
He had gotten used to that term of address during his stay with the Kindred.
Prilli heard his mind explode with a boom. Though he had heard Elder Singh talk about this before, he still thought it was too hard and near impossible. He had never thought that the impossible would become possible, no, become reality.
“Lord…” he called again, as if wanting to verify the truth of it.
Wang Xiaoming scratched his scalp. “Call me Wang Xiaoming.” After all, they knew each other. If Prilli kept looking at him like that, he’d probably have nightmares tonight.
“Not allowed.” Baal finally couldn’t hold it back anymore. He glared at Prilli. “Are you that bored?”
Prilli was still in a daze. He looked around his surroundings and then answered, “Yeah, there isn’t really anything to do.” He didn’t even know where this place was.
“Very good.” Baal removed the ward and suddenly opened the window. “You can leave now.”
…
Prilli looked at Wang Xiaoming.
No matter how it happened, the result was that Wang Xiaoming was now a second generation Kindred and Prilli had to listen to the guy’s orders.
Wang Xiaoming stood up and told Baal, “But he doesn’t know anyone here and isn’t familiar with the lay of the land.”
Baal snorted, “Was I familiar with it when I came?”
…
But he had shamelessly hung around Wang Xiaoming when he first arrived.
Wang Xiaoming thought silently but didn’t have the courage to say it out loud.
Prilli seemed to realize how serious that question was. “Where is this place?”
“My hometown,” Wang Xiaoming introduced with pride.
“Mortal Realm?” Prilli’s scalp tingled.
Wang Xiaoming noted that he didn’t look happy and hurriedly comforted him, “There are lots of delicious foods. I’ll take you on a tour tomorrow.”
“Not allowed.” Baal rejected once again, coldly. Wang Xiaoming hadn’t even taken him around!
Prilli walked silently over to the window and looked in surprise at the traffic whizzing by, back and forth, and the tall, arched bridge in the distance… The scenery, so completely different from the scenes in the Kindred Realm, cut off his last hope. This really was not the Kindred Realm he had been familiar with and wasn’t even anything like the France he had visited twice before in the Mortal Realm.
“You alright?” Wang Xiaoming asked worriedly from behind him.
Prilli’s shoulders rose and fell slowly and he turned around after a long time. He said calmly, “I’m alright, Lord Wang Xiaoming.”
…
Truthfully, everytime he was called Lord, Wang Xiaoming felt like he had traveled back in time, as if there were a constable from the olden times standing in front of him and reporting on cases.
“Uh, you can really just call me Wang Xiaoming.”
Baal didn’t even want to talk anymore. He simply raised his hand and moved Prilli elsewhere.
“Prilli!” Wang Xiaoming shouted, only to see Baal slowly transfer his gaze to the tiger.
The tiger suddenly jerked upright and stared guardedly in Baal’s direction. It slowly lowered its body and acted like it could attack at any moment.
Wang Xiaoming stood in front of the tiger and said, “You can’t toss it onto the streets.”
“Reason?” Baal crossed his arms.
“It will be scared by the cars.”
Baal shrugged his shoulders uncaringly.
“And the cars will get scared by it.” He could also imagine that a lot of zoo employees would run over and lock it up.
Baal raised his eyebrows. When he thought about how, when they were talking about the PSP, Wang Xiaoming hadn’t been reflecting on how much he owed Baal and how he had neglected Baal but rather thought about this damned tiger… and a tiger that glued itself to Wang Xiaoming whenever it saw him, the flames of anger in Baal’s chest refused to go down! Of course, he also had absolutely no desire to make it go down.
Wang Xiaoming saw the fires of anger burning hotter and hotter in Baal’s eyes, as if Baal wouldn’t rest unless he got what he wanted. So he gritted his teeth and rushed over. In the instant before Baal reacted, Wang Xiaoming stood on his tiptoes and pressed his lips against Baal’s.
Lips met lips, like adding fuel to fire.
Baal pressed a hand against the back of Wang Xiaoming’s head and deepened the kiss.
The kiss lasted an entire ten minutes.
Eyelids drooping, the tiger was already preparing to go to sleep out of boredom by the time Baal and Wang Xiaoming separated.
Baal licked his lips and smiled devilishly. “If keeping it makes you more passionate, I can entertain the thought.”
Wang Xiaoming flushed bright red, though it was unclear whether that was due to the kiss or what Baal had just thought. He murmured timidly, “Since you brought it to the Mortal Realm, you need to be responsible for it.”
Baal’s lips twitched. “I’m only responsible for you.”
Wang Xiaoming looked up and said anxiously, “But it can’t survive on its own in the Mortal Realm.” Not unless they put it in a primeval forest. But Wang Xiaoming would really miss it. If they were going to put it in a primeval forest, they might as well not have taken it away from the Forest of Shattered Illusions. At least that was a place with which it was familiar.
Baal said lightly, “I am only responsible for you, but I allow you to keep it.”
“Keep?” Wang Xiaoming blinked his eyes.
“Just keep.” Baal glared at the tiger, as if warning it that it best remain a pet that would come and go at their beckoning and not attempt any affectionate actions toward its owner.
Wang Xiaoming clapped his hands together and said, “Right! We should probably feed it something. It’s been inside the space for so long it must be hungry.”
The sound of a stomach rumbling came from the window.
Baal turned around in vexation. He spotted Prilli sitting on the windowsill and saying in embarrassment, “I don’t know the way back.”
Wang Xiaoming replied, “I think we need several takeout meals.”
WIthout the support of cash, they clearly couldn’t ask for takeout the usual way.
Wang Xiaoming ran to the kitchen, checked out and recorded the exact locations of food, and then relayed them to Baal. Baal used spatial movement to transfer them over, but there were differences between what Wang Xiaoming saw and what he relayed.
So the suite gained a lot of pots and pans, and the restaurant in the hotel received a lot of complaints from the guests due to losing too many kitchen utensils, which caused a delay in serving food and the taste to be substandard.
Baal and the others didn’t know about these things. They enjoyed their meal in the room and the only one who didn’t have such a great time was Prilli. Since Baal didn’t allow a third male creature to exist in the room, he had to stay in his bat form. Specifically because of that, his appetite was 1/100 of the tiger’s. Two bites of steak and his stomach was filled to the brim, and he had to fly around to aid digestion.
