Chapter 4.1 – I’ll teach you

Early in the morning.

Ling Song had just entered the classroom and sat down when the team leader came over and knocked on his desk, asking him to hand in his homework.

Ling Song calmly replied, “I didn’t write it. Teacher Ma said that I don’t have to do homework these days.”

Ma Guosheng indeed did say so yesterday.

The team leader was very surprised. “Teacher Ma is so indulgent towards you? You don’t have to do homework?”

Ling Song didn’t explain much.

He wanted to do it but he couldn’t do it, and he didn’t even know how to use the pen.

Zhang Yang turned around and asked him: “There will be monthly exams tomorrow and the day after tomorrow. Can you do it? Did Brother Sea say that you don’t have to take the exam?”

“No, it’s not possible right?”

This was indeed not possible.

Ma Guosheng probably didn’t believe him completely, and had to see his monthly exam results first.

Let’s see, Ling Song thought, at least I should be able to do well in Chinese.

Before the morning reading bell rang, Wen Yuanchu was the last one to enter the classroom. As soon as he sat down, he began to write his homework furiously.

Ling Song took a look and thought to himself, maybe this guy went out to steal last night, and came back to do his homework so early in the morning?

Wen Yuanchu suddenly raised his eyes.

Ling Song’s heart trembled, and he quickly looked away.

The man’s voice rang in his ears, “Morning.”

Ling Song, “…”

He stretched his neck, took out a blank notebook, and then took out the Chinese textbook and began to copy.

Forget about anything else, he had to write smoothly first.

Otherwise, everything would be in vain.

After that, Ling Song practiced calligraphy all day.

Now he only hoped to get more marks in the Chinese subject, and he had given up on other things.

He did not rest during the lunch break at noon. The words he wrote became more and more fluent, and he remembered the simplified Chinese characters of common words.

This was much easier than writing with a brush. No wonder people here were used to using such a pen.

Ling Song sighed while copying the book.

“Multiple choice questions can also get you some points.”

Except for the greeting in the morning, the deskmate who had never spoken to him suddenly spoke again.

Ling Song paused holding the pen and looked at him subconsciously.

Wen Yuanchu wrote the letters A, B, C, and D on his manuscript paper and told him, “You only need to choose one of the multiple-choice questions. It doesn’t matter if you don’t understand it. You can just guess. If there are three long and one short, choose the shortest answer. If there are three short and one long, choose the longest answer. If there are two long and two short, choose B. If they are the same length, choose A. If they are uneven, choose C. You can always guess a few questions correctly.”

Ling Song blinked, a little flattered. This man had a face exactly like the Regent, but he was so… friendly to him. He was really not used to it.

“Does that also work?”

Wen Yuanchu nodded. “Yes.”

Ling Song smiled. “Oh-“

“Thank you ah.”

A, B, C, D, this was easy. Ling Song tried to write it twice and learned it quickly.

Hearing the song Ling Song hummed happily, Wen Yuanchu’s pen trembled and he lowered his eyes.

In the evening, Ling Jie, who got off work early, came to the school to pick him up in person.

Ling Song got into the car and saw Wen Yuanchu riding a bike out of the school in a blink of an eye. Soon his figure had disappeared into the rolling traffic.

He stared at them for a while and asked Ling Jie, “Brother, do you know the neighbor next to our house?”

Ling Jie started the car and answered casually, “You mean Uncle Wen’s family? I know them. Dad and Uncle Wen are business partners and old friends. Of course I know them. Why do you suddenly ask this?”

“…Wen Yuanchu is my deskmate.”

“So it was because of that kid,” Ling Jie was a little amused, “Did you two fight again?”

Ling Song had no expression on his face. Did he fight with Wen Yuanchu before?

Ling Jie said, “You two have been at odds since you were little. You like to pester others to play with you, but Wen Yuanchu never pays attention to you. You have a bad temper, so when he ignores you, you beat him up. This has caused your parents to go to the Wen family every few days to apologise on your behalf. You are so shameless.”

Ling Song, “…”

He didn’t dare to hit the Regent.

“I forgot, I don’t know.”

“Forget about the past,” Ling Jie reminded him helplessly, “Don’t provoke him again. He is a good student and will go to a prestigious university. He isn’t like you, who is always making trouble and never quiet.”

Ling Song didn’t care. If anyone provoked him, he would hide from them.

The next two days were the monthly exams, which were also the first exams after the division of arts and sciences in the second grade of high school.

The school attached great importance to it and divided the examination rooms according to the ranking of the final exam of the previous semester. Ling Song was in the middle examination room.

The original Ling Song didn’t like to study, but he was smart and his test scores were always acceptable.

Before entering the examination room, Ling Song met Wen Yuanchu in the corridor of the classroom. He was standing there, as if waiting for someone.

Ling Song pretended not to see him and went to the toilet before the bell rang.

When he came back, Wen Yuanchu was still standing there. Ling Song walked over without looking away, but Wen Yuanchu called him.

Ling Song smiled. “What’s the matter?”

Wen Yuanchu looked at him for a long time before throwing out a sentence, “Don’t be nervous.”
