Chapter 41 – Husbands’ Lifelong Calendar

1.

A 3 years old Qiao Luo, a 7 years old Fu Zhi Zhou.

Qiao’er OS: This gege is so handsome, too bad his face is so smelly~ I heard that eating sugar can turn it sweet. Since he’s so handsome, I’ll just give him one candy!

Fu Zhi Zhou OS: So annoying. Don’t wanna bother with him….. But that little bean is so milky….. Forget it, I’ll just accept his candy. This is called respect.

Qiao’er OS: Gege took my candy! YEAH~ Luo Luo now has a gege!

Fu Zhi Zhou OS: This piece of candy is so big… Why do I have to eat it? I just want to go up to my room……

2.

A 4 years old Qiao Luo, an 8 years old Fu Zhi Zhou.

Fu Zhi Zhou OS: Can’t believe I’ve already lived here for a year. But I still kinda wish to go back, not sure how grandpa’s illness is.

Qiao’er OS: Zhou Zhou gege’s unhappy, what should I do? I wanna coax him, but I don’t know how, oh how frustrating.

Fu Zhi Zhou’s mood wasn’t the best. He hid in the house, refusing to see anyone, forgoing his dinner, claiming that he was tired.

Qiao Luo carefully brought a bowl of noodles up and abided by the rules, putting the bowl next to the bed. He didn’t dare speak. He moved a little stool over to Fu Zhi Zhou’s bed and stared wide-eyed at his Zhou Zhou gege.

Qiao Luo was incredibly troubled. The older was unhappy, how does he coax the other?

After 10 minutes, Fu Zhi Zhou flipped over exaggeratedly, and spoke with a dark face, “Can’t you just let me be in peace……”

Saying halfway, he then deflated. The little rascal was very quiet, knees together, two hands resting obediently on the knees, eyes looking cautiously at him, as if being frightened by him.

Fu Zhi Zhou extinguished his anger while donning a dark face. After finishing his noodles, he grabbed Qiao Luo with one hand, while the other held the empty bowl. Fu Zhi Zhou spoke with a bad temper, “Go, isn’t your cartoon airing halfway?”

3.

A 7 years old Qiao Luo, a 11 years old Fu Zhi Zhou.

Qiao Luo finally entered Primary 1. He carried his brand new bag, linked hands with Fu Zhi Zhou and skipped to school happily.

Upon returning home after the first day of school—

Qiao’er OS: Everyone asked if the person I held hands with was my gege, yes yes yes yes yes! They all praised my gege for being handsome. Zhou Zhou gege is mine, they don’t have such a handsome gege like mine!

Fu Zhi Zhou OS: Someone actually found the little rascal cute, and even envied me for having such an adorable little brother. Other than having fairer-than-usual skin, slightly big eyes, slightly more obedient personality, and a slightly sweet mouth, how is he cute? Can he not disturb me everyday? Getting sick but still pestering me childishly for a hug. I would rather not have such a little brother.

4.

A 9 years old Qiao Luo, a 13 years old Fu Zhi Zhou.

Fu Zhi Zhou went to his junior high summer camp. When he left, Qiao Luo was still dancing at the Children’s Palace.

Qiao Luo returned home and waited for an entire night, yet he didn’t manage to meet Fu Zhi Zhou.

Thus, Qiao Luo bashfully asked Grandpa Fu where his Zhou Zhou gege had gone.

Old Man Fu’s immature heart kick started and teased the child, “Your Zhou Zhou gege went back home, and won’t come back ever again.”

Qiao Luo was terribly anxious. He spun 3 circles on the spot and his tear glands loosened up. He spoke with helplessness and anxiety, “No way, he can’t do that.”

Old Man Fu hadn’t expected Qiao Luo’s reaction to be this huge and rushed to comfort him, saying that Fu Zhi Zhou would return in 3 days’ time.

Qiao Luo was scared silly and was afraid that Grandpa Fu’s words were just used to deceive him. For the next 3 days, he couldn’t stomach his food or sleep well. Finally, when Fu Zhi Zhou came home, Qiao Luo hurriedly drilled himself into Fu Zhi Zhou’s bosom, saying, “Zhou Zhou gege, can you please not leave me next time?”

Fu Zhi Zhou was smeared with a face full of tears and snot, but didn’t find Qiao Luo a nuisance for once. Instead, he said, “Okay.”

5.

A 10 years old Qiao Luo, a 14 years old Fu Zhi Zhou.

Qiao Luo lazed in Fu Zhi Zhou’s house, refusing to leave, insisting on sleeping with Fu Zhi Zhou.

In fact, Fu Zhi Zhou had plans to play basketball at night and wasn’t free to play with Qiao Luo. Qiao Luo didn’t have the capacity to monopolize Fu Zhi Zhou yet.

Fu Zhi Zhou spoke with a dark expression, “No.”

Qiao Luo rushed forward and hopped onto Fu Zhi Zhou’s back, forcing him to carry Qiao Luo. Qiao Luo clung to the other as he spoke, “Yes, why would it be no?”

Fu Zhi Zhou piggy-backed Qiao Luo up the stairs sporting an unhappy look.

In the middle of the night, Qiao Luo slept in a haze. He kicked Fu Zhi Zhou first, then kicked aside the blanket next.

Fu Zhi Zhou, who was kicked awake, looked at the little milky dumpling next to him with a throbbing head, as he spread his limbs far and wide. Fu Zhi Zhou unhappily tightened his lips into a line as he covered Qiao Luo with the blanket, tucked in the corners and hugged him close, afraid that Qiao Luo would start kicking again.

Qiao Luo thought half-consciously: Being fierce to me is just a pretentious act. Zhou Zhou gege treats me the best.

He stuck himself onto Fu Zhi Zhou’s arm, with even his dreams full of joy.

6.

A 11 years old Qiao Luo, a 15 years old Fu Zhi Zhou.

Qiao Luo fell sick again, kicking up a huge fuss, clamoring for his Zhou Zhou gege.

Fu Zhi Zhou resigned to his fate as he took care of Qiao Luo. He took a wash towel and wiped the little pretty face clean, then carefully fed a bottle of Yakult to Qiao Luo.

Qiao Luo hooked Fu Zhi Zhou’s finger, “Zhou Zhou gege, don’t be angry anymore.”

At this time, Fu Zhi Zhou’s anger had long dissipated, reason being: He was already used to Qiao Luo’s coquettish acts.

Actually, he took pleasure in it. After all, the little brat was only selling meng to him alone.

Habits were truly frightening; Just as he was used to this city life, the friends here and treating his little gramps as his closest relative instead of a stranger.

This change wasn’t difficult. He hadn’t experienced solitary loneliness and sorrow either. That was all because Qiao Luo would always be there, softly rubbing against him.

Sticking to him.

Accompanying him.

7.

A 14 years old Qiao Luo, an 18 years old Fu Zhi Zhou.

Fu Zhi Zhou was admitted to university. His grades were excellent and he entered a fairly prestigious school.

Grandpa Fu was excited, Father and Mother Qiao congratulated and celebrated with Fu Zhi Zhou sincerely.

Only Qiao Luo was unhappy.

Zhou Zhou gege was going to university. Zhou ZHou gege was going to stay in the dormitory. Zhou Zhou gege wouldn’t discipline him then secretly treat him well.

Fu Zhi Zhou was going to be released from the little tail that clung to him everyday. He went into the dorms feeling light but as a result, he could no longer take it after a week.

Without the little guy calling him “Zhou Zhou gege” at every turn during the day, he actually dreamt of the little guy, and to make matters worse, it was a scene of him hugging and coaxing a howling little fellow.

What’s even scarier was that he had a reaction the following morning.

Fu Zhi Zhou: ……

He was used to Qiao Luo sticking to him, but it shouldn’t have been in this manner.

Fu Zhi Zhou started a one-sided cold war against Qiao Luo, completely ignoring Qiao Luo, thoroughly blocking him out.

Yet, he felt his heart ache for some reason. He was even able to visualize the image of Qiao Luo’s aggrieved and dumbfounded appearance, especially that pair of eyes which turned red instantly when he would truly panic.

Afterwards, he couldn’t hang on any longer. He told himself: Fu Zhi Zhou, you mustn’t take Qiao’er’s reliance on you for granted and commit any sort of outrage. You must wait for Qiao’er to hit 18 years old, with the ability to think about his own relationships maturely, then you can chase him.

8.

A 16 years old Qiao Luo, a 20 years old Fu Zhi Zhou.

Qiao Luo entered a vocational high school. Fu Zhi Zhou saw that his little gramps had sent over the news. The corner of his lips were about to soar into the sky. It curled up in a silly way and refused to get down.

Then the little guy’s call came in. Fu Zhi Zhou could only control himself, “What’s there to be so happy about?”

He couldn’t be too good to Qiao Luo. Otherwise, this sort of reliance would continue to entangle, and wouldn’t do any good to their relationship.

But if a person was able to control himself well in regards to emotional relationships, then he could only be termed as a robot.

Fu Zhi Zhou acted like the common folk for a while and struggled with himself for 2 hours. Alas, he picked a book that would be the least likely to cause a misunderstanding as a gift, the most practical “5 years college book”. He then made a trip home.

9.

A 17 years old Qiao Luo, a 21 years old Fu Zhi Zhou.

Qiao Luo and Fu Zhi Zhou got together.

10.

A 21 years old Qiao Luo, a 25 years old Fu Zhi Zhou.

After Fu Zhi Zhou graduated, he was dragged into entrepreneurship by Yu Ziheng. The creative company caused a wild fire in the market, like a phoenix blazing from ashes, making splashes of wave everywhere.

At the congratulatory banquet after their first project, Fu Zhi Zhou had some wine and wasn’t able to drive. He didn’t want to call for a taxi, so he held Qiao Luo’s hand and walked home.

In any case, their destination wasn’t far.

Qiao Luo followed Fu Zhi Zhou, and as usual, he blindly walked with Fu Zhi Zhou, not paying attention to his surroundings. Fu Zhi Zhou’s ability to hook a little boy into following him was top-notch. No matter where Qiao Luo was lured to, he had no opinions.

That was, until Fu Zhi Zhou stopped at the front of a house that Qiao Luo hadn’t seen before.

Qiao Luo tilted his head in confusion as he looked at Fu Zhi Zhou, “You’ve drunk too much, you walked the wrong way! Idiot.”

Fu Zhi Zhou smiled. He wasn’t drunk, but that faint scent of wine made him seem more mesmerizing and tempting. Qiao Luo gazed at him dumbly while Fu Zhi Zhou took out a pair of keys and unlocked the door, “You’re the little idiot. It’s not the wrong way, this is our house.”

The furnishing was simple but the slippers at the entrance belonged to a matching set.

Qiao Luo was stunned. He changed into the slippers and followed Fu Zhi Zhou step-by-step into the bedroom. Inside the room hung a photo of them.

In the photo, Qiao Luo’s smile was both silly and sweet. Fu Zhi Zhou’s gaze was on him, full of unconcealed pampering.

Qiao Luo pointed at the photo and could only release a single consonant, “Ah?”

Fu Zhi Zhou, “This house was bought furnished a year ago and your Ziheng brother lent me a sum of money. I didn’t even take a single cent from this project’s bonus and am still in debt. So silly Qiao’er, do you want to move in with me?”

Qiao Luo pounced onto Fu Zhi Zhou and exclaimed with the same old formula, “Yes yes yes yes!”

11.

A 30 years old Qiao Luo, a 34 years old Fu Zhi Zhou.

Qiao Luo OS: How can a man in his mid 30s still look so handsome?

Fu Zhi Zhou OS: The little guy is already 30 but how could his meng still be so natural and spontaneous, making me unable to hold back?

12.

A 41 years old Qiao Luo, a 45 years old Fu Zhi Zhou.

Qiao Luo: Zhou Zhou gege!

Fu Zhi Zhou: Here.

Qiao Luo: Mom called me today, asking us to go home for dinner.

Fu Zhi Zhou: Got it. Mom called me too. Just nice, Yu Ziheng had given me Dad’s favourite tea leaves so I’ll bring it over too.

13.

A many many years old Qiao Luo, and a many many years old Fu Zhi Zhou.

They both turned into white-haired old men together.

A loving and harmonious pair of old men.

The two moved to another house in the suburban area that was much bigger and bought a rocking chair. Fu Zhi Zhou swayed Qiao Luo from behind the chair while Qiao Luo looked at Fu Zhi Zhou cutely.

He called Fu Zhi Zhou, “Zhou Zhou gege”, for his entire lifetime.

And was now still calling out sweetly, “Zhou Zhou gege, hug me.”

Fu Zhi Zhou squeezed over and the two sat together, shoulder to shoulder, head to head.

The warm spring sunshine was really nice, even if it was dusk, it was still really good.
