Nie Chi didn’t waste any more time.
The Sui family had a private hospital. Sui Si carried Yu Tang to the car and sent him to the hospital overnight.
Nie Chi handled the hospitalization procedures and when he returned, Sui Si was still sitting in the rest area.
He remained silent, the whole person shrouded in the shadows, with most of his clothes wet.
Sui Si had always had a smooth-sailing life. Except for that one time when his relationship with Ke Ming was blocked by his family, and he had no choice but to take a step back. Nie Chi had rarely seen him look dispirited.
“He has already been sent to the emergency room.”
Nie Chi handed over half a cup of hot water. “It should still be on time.”
Sui Si’s eyes twitched, and he raised his head.
Nie Chi knows that he doesn’t like Yu Tang, but he couldn’t understand why Sui Si’s reaction was so big. He tilted his head and handed over the water.
Sui Si stared at him for quite a while without saying anything. He received the cup of water and held it in his hand.
In the final analysis, Nie Chi was just a manager hired by the Sui family and had nothing to do with this matter.
… …
He was the one involved.
When he heard those words on the phone, a previously nonexistent and sudden concern about Yu Tang’s well-being sprang up, leaving him restless and unable to settle his mind.
Sui Si practically didn’t have time to calm down, to think carefully about why Yu Tang would do such a thing.
These days, Yu Tang’s behavior was quite normal. If it were to be because he was unsatisfied with their relationship, obviously it had been the same these past three years.
Yu Tang has never said that he was unwilling.
“Your new assistant said that Ke Ming has been safely sent to your house.” Nie Chi sat at the side with his head lowered, looking at his phone. “Because he was extremely drunk and was blown in the wind, he had a slight fever.”
Sui Si frowned. “Why didn’t they contact me directly?”
“Your phone was submerged in the water and can’t be contacted.”
Nie Chi said, “They also looked for Yu Tang, but they also couldn’t reach him, so they looked for me.”
As he spoke, he read the messages and scrolled down again. “Ke Ming feels terribly uncomfortable. Your personal doctor has already gone over. Do you want to return to take a look?”
Sui Si could barely suppress his worries and suddenly stood up, but stopped again after taking only half a step.
Yu Tang… wasn’t out of danger yet.
On the way to the hospital, he held Yu Tan in his arms and realized that Yu Tang was much thinner than he remembered.
Back then, they had put on a show, being affectionate and considerate in front of the camera, and they had even embraced each other. At that time, even though Yu Tang was slim, his clothes still carried some soft warmth.
Now, it seemed like there was only a frail skeleton left, swaying and disjointed, with the cold air piercing from the inside out.
It was so cold that it chilled his hands.
Yu Tang was lying in the emergency room. If there really is an accident, then his leaving now would practically be letting Yu Tang throw his life away.
“You have already made it clear, and the clause in the contract was also clearly stated.”
Nie Chi said, “The principle of closeness and distance 1 to be distant with people who have a close relationship with you, and to be close with people who have a distant relationship with you—some relationships are close and intimate while others are distance and alienated , of first come, first serve; Yu Tang understands them very well.”
Sui Si held onto the back of the seat. His anxiety gradually calmed down with time, but his anger rose again. He waved his hands almost uncontrollably. “But he—“
Nie Chi asked, “Do you actually think that he wants to use suicide as a method to keep you?”
Sui Si was just about to answer when he met Nie Chi’s gaze and paused again.
It’s not like Yu Tang didn’t want to divorce.
On his way from the river to the hospital, Nie Chi briefly showed him the materials that Yu Tang had sent: divorce procedures, a public statement and how property division should be done. Yu Tang had done all this like every other thing he had done for him—arranged properly and attentively.
If it were not for the Sui family, Yu Tang wouldn’t have broken the contract, asking him not to divorce for the moment.
It’s not that Yu Tang can’t live without him.
“Then what is his reason?”
Inexplicably, he didn’t feel happy because of this realization. Sui Si tenaciously suppressed his emotions and spoke in a hoarse voice. “Why does he want to toss like this? To let everyone know that I don’t have a heart, emotionally abusing during marriage, forcing my legal partner so that he can’t live anymore?!”
Nie Chi shook his head and handed the car keys to Sui Si.
Sui Si stared at the bunch of keys. “What is the meaning of this?”
“I don’t know,” said Nie Chi, “but looking at your current mood, even if Yu Tang wakes up, he will be frightened to death by you.”
Sui Si: “…”
Nie Chi stood up and gave him a change of clothes. He took the already cold cup of water and threw it into the trash can.
He went out first. Sui Si stood there for a while and silently followed behind him.
Nie Chi gave him the umbrella.
The rain didn’t seem to stop anytime soon. The street lights outside the hospital emitted a really soft, warm yellow light, which was reflected in the puddles and shattered by the raindrops.
Sui Si took the umbrella and held it in his hand.
The umbrella was prepared by Yu Tang. Sui Si had never cared about these trivial matters before.
In fact, Sui Si’s studio largely relies on Yu Tang for its normal operation. That ‘s why it was in a mess today, as it did not have the ability to handle emergency situations.
“Yu Tang is not your accessory.”
Nie Chi walked him to the door and suddenly said, “He is also an independent person. He was first an independent person, and then he met you.”
Sui Si stopped his steps. “What?”
“When he took care of you, you never asked him what his purpose was for treating you so kindly.”
Nie Chi said, “This time he didn’t follow your desires, and suddenly you want to question him about his intentions.”
Sui Si seemed to be shaken by this sentence and stood there.
“Sometimes… when he’s not so busy, in the gaps of serving you,” said Nie Chi, “maybe he wants to be willful for once and do something that he really wants to do.”
Sui Si turned around to look at the red light above the emergency room. His chest rose and fell several times. He finally forced himself to open his mouth and said in a hoarse voice, “This is what he wants to do?”
Nie Chi didn’t answer. He opened the glass door for him and looked back at him.
Sui Si was speechless; he didn’t use the umbrella and hurried out of the hospital under the rain, as if he were running away.
Yu Tang was in a coma for a whole week.
It was as if the final straw had finally pressed down on him. After escaping from danger, he didn’t regain consciousness, and there was no detectable sign of any mental activity.
Starting from the third day, Sui Si would come to the ward every night to sit.
This accident didn’t create any disturbance in public opinion. The tabloids that usually wanted to stare at him to dig up gossip seemed to have been taken care of this time. All the headlines were “The lover of Movie Emperor Sui accidentally fell into the water after drinking.”
Nie Chi roughly investigated and found records and photos of Yu Tang late at night in bars, and possibly flirting with someone.
“What does he know about clubbing and flirting?”
Sui Si mocked lightly, “If someone were to get a little closer to him, he would be so nervous that he wouldn’t be able to move at all.”
When the two of them showed off their affection in front of the camera, Sui Si displayed his skills as a movie emperor. Before he could do anything, Yu Tang was so nervous that he couldn’t move. He just stood there and allowed Sui Si to manipulate him.
If you really want to talk about it, Yu Tang’s appearance may not be as exquisite as Ke Ming’s, but he’s still quite handsome and gentle. Especially his eyes, soft and clear. When he looks at someone while speaking, it always seems to convey a particular gentle determination.
“It’s not important whether he knows or not,” said Nie Chi. “With this news out there, when the two of you divorce, the main responsibility will be on him.”
Sui Si paused while arranging Yu Tang’s quilt. He did not answer and continued to cover Yu Tang.
After staying in the circle for so long, if he were to say that he can’t see through this matter, he is undoubtedly pretending.
He knows the things that Yu Tang did in secret for him. Not only this time but also in the past.
Ever since he married Sui Si, Yu Tang has never slept so peacefully. As long as there is a sudden situation, no matter how late it is, the staff of the studio would always be able to contact Special Assistant Yu as soon as possible.
Actually… if it were not for that unexpected argument, he would have wanted to treat Yu Tang well during these last few months.
The instruments hummed, silently maintaining the patient’s vital signs.
Sui Si looked at it for a while. He stretched out his hand, gently parted Yu Tang’s bangs, and touched his forehead.
“Wake up,” said Sui Si. “When you wake up, let’s not get a divorce yet.”
He and Ke Ming had been walking for so long and had sacrificed too much to give up at the last moment. Yu Tang was swept in. These three years, if there was no Yu Tang, he didn’t know how difficult his situation would have been.
He actually knew that, and it’s not like he doesn’t feel grateful in his heart.
He doesn’t have feelings for Yu Tang, but it doesn’t seem so hard to find a way to be nicer to him.
After all, it will only be for a few months. No matter how much it drags on, once his grandfather’s birthday passes, they will definitely divorce this year.
He still couldn’t figure out why Yu Tang went to see a psychologist or why he did such a desperate thing, but Sui Si didn’t intend to get to the bottom of it.
As part of fulfilling his marital obligations, Sui Si was willing to give it a try, at least learning to treat Yu Tang better during these final months of their marriage.
It was nothing more than acting out a performance again.
“You will come to live in my house and wait until our divorce to move out.”
Sui Si leaned over, just like in those years when he put out a gentle facade, embracing the peacefully asleep Yu Tang. “When we have our amicable divorce,” he said,” come visit me and Ke Ming. We can go on vacation together. And when we have our wedding, you can be our wedding witness.”
He held Yu Tang’s slender shoulders, which were so thin that they were almost painful. Unconsciously, he adjusted his grip, easing the pressure on those disjointed shoulder blades with great care.
Sui Si hugged him and gently stroked Yu Tang’s back, as if comforting him.
“I won’t scold you,” said Sui Si. “Be good and wake up.”
Sui Si touched his forehead and whispered, as if coaxing, “When you wake up, I will treat you well.”
Yu Tang opened his eyes in his embrace.
“System.” Yu Tang asked in his mind, “Which book is this and who is this person?”
