After such a showdown, some countries which had originally been planning to seize the championship for the spirit taming division swiftly had their plans thwarted. After all, no one expected that the country ranked all the way at the bottom would abruptly make a complete comeback, rendering them incapable of reacting in time.

Look at those old codgers from China’s side, wearing a profound expression as if the results had been within their expectations. However, their act managed to fool the other countries into believing that it had always been their plan to play the role of the pig to eat the tiger. Now, it was their own fault that they had been fooled like a donkey.

The order of the contest was determined by drawing lots. The next round was naturally to eliminate more contestants. In the end, there were only four countries left. Helun, which everyone thought was most likely to win, was eliminated early after losing to China, the country everyone had underestimated and overlooked in the spirit taming division. The latter was now one of the four countries left.

By now, there was no one who treated the dark-haired youth as a fool. This person had clean and good-looking Eastern features with sharp eyebrows. Anyone who saw it would know he was a gentle and reasonable person.

But when he became your opponent… no, your enemy, he did not hesitate to attack without mercy.

Moreover, his tamed spirit seemed to be following him on its own free will; it obliged no matter what the youth said. This was unlike their own spirits that needed effort to constantly suppress them. Sometimes, they even had to worry about backlash due to carelessness and distraction.

Comparing with others was truly maddening.

Regardless of how stifled they felt, the gentle dark-haired youth finished off his last opponent for the final match. His victory couldn’t be any smoother since he didn’t allow any of his opponents much stage-time.

Thus, the results of the spirit taming event were without suspense. China completely won.

In the original storyline, Gu Yan remembered writing about how China obtained considerably outstanding results in this convention apart from the spirit taming component. Now that the situation had changed, this shortcoming had also been fixed and so, China’s position in the spiritual organization rose steadily. The position of Chief of the spiritual organisation had fierce competition.

This was something that everyone had evidently thought of. This matter seemed as if it would only grow increasingly intense.

But this had no relation to him. After dealing with his last opponent, Gu Yan sat back at his original seat.

The fight to be Chief of the spiritual organisation was completely out of reach for him as a younger generation of divination masters. Although he had officially joined the organisation and even obtained a license, Gu Yan had no intentions of staying for long. After completing his task as a reserve player for his country, he would leave.

The winner of this year’s convention didn’t need to be said. After the grand conference was finally over, Gu Yan wasn’t able to leave until a big celebration like what Grandmaster Wen spoke of before was held.

An evil spirit was still in his hands. Gu Yan had planned to finish up this matter once everything was over but he was being treated as the MVP now and could not leave. He also couldn’t not give these divination masters any face, so after thinking for a while, he agreed.

Since he had already agreed to participate in the convention, he would go through with it and end with a beautiful celebration.

“Our Ghost City has already sent out people to capture all lingering evil spirits in the human realm. Ah Yan need not be troubled by this.” When he heard the youth say he had matters to finish up, Xie Lan didn’t reply with an ‘en’ as usual or an ‘okay’. Instead, he had done something rare and unexpected. He actually disagreed.

After pasting a talisman, the driver couldn’t hear the conversation between the people in the back. Meanwhile, the others sitting behind were all people in the know and there wasn’t a need to conceal these matters from them.

Hearing this, Grand Master Zhao who’d been sitting rigidly without daring to glance sideways, couldn’t help but cast a look in the direction of the dark-haired youth and the ghost beside him. His main focus was the ghost.

Once he’d discovered that the youth who he thought would surely die in the ghost city had safely come back to the human realm, and even dragged the Ghost King along, he suddenly recalled the ‘shocked’ expression of the youth the first time he saw the Ghost King. A hole instantly appeared in his brain and filled it with all sorts of sadomasochistic dramas about past and present lives.

Their relationship wasn’t close enough for him to ask such a thing so he could only rely on the nonsense in his brain. But for him to imagine such a scene from this dog blood melodrama, it must be said that Zhao Huan’s unconventional way of thinking was related to his shifu.

This ghost named Xie Lan had been dead for thousands of years and could be considered the ancestor of ancestors. Meanwhile, the dark-haired youth who could make the human realm’s enemy obediently submit to him was merely 20-years-old. With such a large disparity, how could there possibly have been any sort of relationship between them? That was why Grandmaster Zhao had thought up the ‘past and present lives’ dog blood melodrama.

It wasn’t like he never had any suspicions that this ghost might have other ulterior motives. But having lived for a long time, Grandmaster Zhao was more confident in his ability to observe others, compared to making blind deductions about the hearts of others.

He could tell that the most terrifying enemy of the entire world was truly obedient to the youth. Moreover, he would obey his words as if he was willing to do anything to make the youth happy.

In his opinion, this was the best outcome. With the youth’s lead, the threat to the human realm had been solved. Was there a better outcome than this?

His thoughts were beautiful, but he naturally neglected the possible disaster that might happen if the worst outcome were to happen.

“Since this matter is your responsibility, it’s also mine.” Gu Yan frowned. He coaxed his family’s Qiuqiu and continued, “It’s too boring to stay at home. Catching evil spirits is just an excuse to go out… ah, I can also earn money at the same time to raise Qiuqiu.”

Exorcism and whatnot, there would at least be families like the Shen family who were willing to spend large amounts of money. It was difficult to manage those that were too far away but for those evil spirits lurking within the city, Gu Yan was not able to ignore them since he had the ability to deal with them.

This answer made the expressionless silver-haired officer swiftly lower his eyes. His lashes trembled and by the time he looked up, those pale-green eyes were completely fixed on the dark-haired youth.

The last three words were the key to successfully coaxing him. Xie Lan lifted the youth’s left hand and gently lowered his head to press a light kiss against his ring finger.

Looking at it from another perspective, his willingness to do anything for another person meant that he was capable of doing anything. From a certain angle, the current Xie Lan was even more dangerous than ever.

After leaving the huge manor, they arrived at the banquet place. The pavilion was a place many dignitaries enjoyed visiting in the capital and could be considered quite famous. Divination masters of the spiritual world did not lack money and if anything, disdained it. On arriving at such a place, they wouldn’t care about spending it at all.

In a separate room, Gu Yan was being treated as a hero. His face couldn’t help but freeze when five or six glasses of wine were suddenly pushed in front of him.

“Growl…” The cat-shaped Heidis naturally didn’t miss this small subtle change in expression. It turned its head and narrowed its eyes at those people holding onto a cup of wine. A low rumbling sound could be heard.

The cat in his lap let out a low growl and its body moved as if it was trying to get up. However, Gu Yan was faster. His hand reacted quickly and went out to stroke the cat’s back while simultaneously stopping it from getting up. His other hand lifted the cup and unhurriedly took a sip before putting it down.

In his original world, Gu Yan had a good capacity for liquor. Even if he were to down an entire cup of liquor, his expression wouldn’t change.

However, the reception he enjoyed later on was even more enthusiastic. The MVP of this year’s convention was a fresh junior, so the divination masters couldn’t be any more heated. If this talented junior didn’t already have a shifu, they would have swiftly kidnapped him back to their own clans.

“My master told this disciple not to mention his name.” When asked about his mysterious shifu, Gu Yan took some time to react. Despite being under the influence of alcohol, he still gave the answer he had prepared a long time ago.

No matter how good his capacity for liquor was, faced with so many toasts, Gu Yan’s face would inevitably turn red. His eyes were also gradually losing focus.

They were trying to celebrate the hero, not make things difficult for him. Seeing that the youth was getting visibly drunk, and looking at the time, these grandmasters decisively allowed him to return to his room to rest.

The wine at the banquet was particularly strong. Originally, Gu Yan only felt a little tipsy but now, his mind had become fuzzy.

“Qiu-wwu, Qiuqiu…” The aloof man who had appeared wore a dark military uniform with a face darker than it. Despite his lack of warmth, this man was still extremely beautiful.

In a rare appearance, the youth lying on the bed was intoxicated. The corner of his eyes was tinged red and misty with tears.

Hearing his name, he naturally had to go closer. When he was close enough to hold the youth in his arms, Xie Lan lowered his head to press his forehead against the youth’s neck and snuggled.

Amidst his drunkenness, Gu Yan suddenly grasped a small bunch of silver hair in his hands and used his thumb and index finger to stroke it a few times.

Watching his hair being caressed and played by the youth, the silver-haired officer asked, “Does Ah Yan like my current appearance more?”

Compared to his shoulder-length hair in the past, the youth seemed to like his long hair more.

The drunk youth’s eyes were half-closed, not saying anything. Instead, he held the bundle of hair and brought it closer. Then, right before the silver-haired officer’s eyes, he gently planted a kiss on it.

This made the silver-haired officer narrow his eyes. In one fell swoop, he removed his hair from the youth’s hand and leaned in to capture the soft lips that had kissed his hair earlier.

After he was done kissing, he continued to lick and nibble until his pale lips were teased into a beautiful shade of red. The Heidis was finally satisfied.

“Ah Yan said he would give me a reward.”

Gu Yan’s brain had been slowed down by the alcohol and only gave a low hum after several seconds, allowing the warm and soft feeling to travel down his neck.

The expressionless silver-haired officer, dressed in a military uniform which made him appear particularly cold and reserved, pressed his thin lips close to the youth’s ear. A deep and pleasant voice sounded, “Qiuqiu wants to do it with Ah Yan.”

“Mn.” The rarely-seen drunk Gu Yan seemed as if he would accede to anything asked of him now.

“Do it for an entire day.” The stoic and beautiful face spoke these words. When he did so, he even tilted his head.

Having Ah Yan drunk occasionally wasn’t a bad idea. The Heidis who’d gotten a taste of sweet victory nudged the small trace of tears that leaked out from the corner of his reddened eyes. He retained this idea in his mind.

(Not a rant but just a realisation) This novel is much more difficult to translate than a few other novels I’m working on. Some others I could probably complete in an hour since the words are much easier as I can read and type at the same time, but this one… I’ve gotta read, put it through a chinese dictionary every couple of words, then reformat the entire sentence again. Hurhur, but in any case, we’ve come this far, I’ll attempt to step up on chapter release once my finals are over but bear in mind… this novel is a beast ORZ
